“I don’t remember much from before. Before the Director found me. It’s…odd. There are so many lapses in my memory. I fear I may not even know who I was had he not reminded me. I am Cierra Imogene Xavier, but most just call me CIX, like the number. I guess technically it’s also a roman numeral, but nobody calls me 109 lol. Hell, if I didn’t know any better and looking in the mirror seeing this banging young body, I’d say I feel at least 109 years old some days.”

“Mr. Director calls me Agent CIX, even though I don’t personally know of any other agents. He gave me but one important directive. Find XXXVI. Report back once you do, he told me. He gave me clues, like bread crumbs to find this elusive person, who always wore a mask. Director seemed to know who he was behind that mask, but he would not tell me. It was about two years ago now. The details around why he donned the mask or took on the moniker were unclear, but it was a recent thing. All part of the plan, he said.”

“Project infiltration, he called it. Find XXXVI, get close, make him trust you. No why, just instructions. I am the type to ask questions, but I’ve learned, Director is not one to give answers. He offers only the information he deems necessary to get the job done. This was not my first job, but it did seem more important than the others.”

“I don’t always wear the mask. I like just being Cierra sometimes. Director insists that I wear it. I do when I’m sure he’s watching, when he has his little birds about. He was in Cambodia when I found him. You know I always wanted a holiday there. Anyway, I went to this temple. There were a bunch of monks walking around in dark robes and then there was him. Taller, slender, still in robes, but that pearl mask, hand painted with a beautiful crimson pattern. He was special. I could tell by looking at him. But once you got to know him, he would be the first to tell you he is not special. He is but a man trying to make his way through a cruel world. He was then and he remains…a beautiful soul. I was sent to find him. Mission accomplished. I was sent to report back to the Director as I have. What I didn’t expect was to fall for him.”

Behind the mask

“My name is Rat. Oh, no, it is not, but that moment still sticks with me in the promo from Messenger. Is he still a part of your coven, Preston? With all the comings and goings within the Black Rainbow, I really can’t keep track. Then there’s Sarah Wolf, who just took me to my limit and earned a win against me on Monday. “Undefeated legend, huh? Tell me how you achieve that without ever stepping inside a ring for yourself? Now that’s rich. So I know for sure I’m contending with Atara Raven, but beyond that, I won’t know which one of your goons will be taking your place, right? It could be Briggs Wellington, the strong silent type, Dashford Luxe, the brash influencer or the vicious Regan Vale. Who’s to say all three won’t want a taste of this alphabet soup?”

“The reality is, it doesn’t matter which one steps in for you, Preston. You’re all uncomfortably dull and boring. I’ve seen so many iterations of your spoiled rich wrestler ilk come and go and they all did it better than you. Not only that, but they actually wrestled. You come in here with all this pomp and circumstance and you hope that it will hide the fact that you are utterly inconsequential and forgettable. Even if you stick around, you’ll never be recognized if you don’t do your own dirty work. So, prepare your best equipped stooge to fight. Likely it won’t be enough. Should they win…it still isn’t your victory. Stolen valor at best.”

“Then there is Atara, a mainstay of XWF for years. You made your own way as Atara Themis before marrying XWF legend James Raven. You have done a lot, but lately, well you held the X-Treme title for a moment before losing it to Gorgo. You seem a bit lost, dove. I harbor no ill will for you, but I wonder, what is it you’re seeking? Do you have a path to Relentless? Me, I already have a shot at the Revolution title. Should I speak with Scoops McGee, I could form a partnership, or even with Ms. Wolf. Mrs. Raven, have you found your Tribe? The younger Kline extended an invitation after Aidan Collins beat you and you seemed reluctant. Is that in the cards for you? A club? A family?
