ooc// Sorry for lack of color. Had to write this on my phone.
I didn't know what I wanted to eat today for lunch but I was feeling something meaty. Maybe a burger or some ribs. I wouldn't mind some fowl. I did have some food back at my place of business but since this morning. I've felt like I was being watched. That's why I wanted to go out for lunch, to see if I still got that uneasy feeling and sure enough as I was walking down the sidewalk. I felt it. Like daggers sticking into my flesh, but I didn't want whoever or whatever was spying on me to know I had caught on. I wanted to know how it was going to play out. I found a burger place and went inside, got some food and ate it. The whole time I kept my eyes and ear open. Nothing, yet I could still feel someone watching my every move, as if I was being studied. I didn't like it one bit. It could be anything. Being alive for so long, I've made some enemies here and there. After letting the food settle. I made my way out and walked back to my shop. As soon as I walked in. I felt a pressure come over my body. It was rage. Pure rage. It took me a moment to regain myself. That's when I heard voices. I looked up and saw my worker Lisa talking to a tall Indian woman. She was in a blue dress that wrapped her body in all the right places. I've felt this rage before, only once in my life. Seeing that the woman was Indian. I had a feeling who it was. I walked up to the two ladies and smiled.
"Oh Boss, this woman has been here waiting for you to come back from Lunch. She says you two are old friends."
Once I got a look at her, I knew who she was. Her name was Kali. The Hindu Goddess of Death, Time and Doomsday. I ran into her a few hundred years ago. Helped her get back one of her swords that another God had stolen. That's the rage I felt all those years ago but what I wanted to know was why she was here, in my place of business. Why did she go out of her way to find me. I hadn't had a single clue.
"Ah yes, Kal. How have you been?" I didn't say her full name. Lisa didn't' know who I really was and I hoped by calling Kali, Kal. She'd get the hint and hopefully she didn't get pissed for calling her that either.
"I've been well Jake, I needed to talk to you. Could we speak in private?"
"Yes, of course. Let's go to my office. Thank you Lisa. I'll take it from here. Just watch the shop, you know. Do your normal stuff."
"You got it boss."
With that, Kali and I went to my office, I shut the door behind and sat in my chair behind the desk. Kali sat in the other one across from me. She smiled as she sat there. She truly was very pretty, beautiful in fact. No wonder she was associated sexuality but I knew behind that smile. She was a force to be reckoned with. I never wanted to see that side of Kali. I wouldn't make it out alive.
"So, can I get you anything to drink?"
"No thank you. I'm just stopping by for a moment. I wanted to ask you for a favor."
"Oh? A favor? From me? I doubt I can help but I'll try to if I can."
"Every five hundred years, the many Gods and Goddesses of this world hold a tournament and a choice a champion to represent us and I want you to be mine. I remember the time you got my sword back. I remember your skills of a warrior and I wish to use them again."
"Wow, umm okay. I'm taken back by that, thank you. I don't know what to say, I don't wanna upset my Gods. Wouldn't they get made if a viking warrior fought for a Hindu Goddess?"
"No, I have asked Odin, he will be hosting the tournament and thus can not enter it. He said he would be fine with my asking you but you have to give me a yes or no."
"Depends. What kind if tournament are we talking about?"
"It's. As the mortals say. Right up your ally. You will be in battle with others."
I wouldn't mind that one bit. I always enjoyed a good fight.
"If I do say yes. What would I get in return?"
"If you win. Odin will grant you whatever your heart desires but as it is me asking you to fight for me. I will reward you. If I can grant you what you wish. You shall get it. So. What will your answer be?"
I sat there for a moment and thought it through. It's be some time since I've been able to unleash my warrior side. So why not? If I die. I die and get to go to Valhalla.
"Alright. I'll fight for you. You have my word as a shaman."
Kali smiled warmly.
"Wonderful. I shall return when the time is right. Be ready."
"I will be. You have a wonder day Kali. Til we meet again."
She nodded and left my office. I sat there wondering about who I would be fighting. I couldn't wait for it. I wanted to be in Battle at this very moment but i couldn't be hasty. I needed to prepare. Get focused and train. I wanted to be ready.
