"The art of living is more like wrestling than dancing."

~ Marcus Aurelius

The sound of bare punches echoing against flesh.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

The quivering of the voice, pleading for him to stop.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

"Finn?"

Much like the previous video, Jon's voice brought Finn right back to reality. Rubbing his sore eyes, Finn noticed it was the dead of night as he sat on his couch in his apartment. The sound of the crickets outside reverberated around the apartment as the faint glow from Finn's laptop shone on him.

"Were you asleep?"

"Might have dozed off for a bit," Finn yawned as he sat up straight. "What's going on?"

"Woke up to use the bathroom and I saw the light shining outside my room. Really, I should be asking what's going on with that."

Finn looked at his laptop again, seeing the face of Doctor Psycho plastered in it as his face triggered Finn to remember what he was doing so late up on the laptop in the first place. "That fucker Doc Psycho cut a promo on me. I didn't want to be behind the game, so I figured I might as well check up on what the crazy j0bber's up to."

"Oh?" Jon asked, raising an eyebrow. It was clear his interest was piqued. "Mind if I have a look?"

"Sure," Finn responded, turning the laptop towards Jon, causing him to shield his eyes. "Not much to really see though. More or less the standard 'I-may-be-shit-but-you-still-shouldn't-overlook-me' bullcrap. Well, maybe not quite, considering the bastard thinks he's even somewhat decent in the ring, but you get the gist."

"Uh-huh," Jon responded. "I'll be the judge of that. Play it back for me."

"Yeah, yeah, as you wish," Finn said as he rolled his eyes while pressing 'play.' "Bunch of bullshit in this promo really, this guy has no idea what he's talking abo-"

"Shh!" The hushing noise cut through the air like a knife as Finn stayed quiet throughout the duration of the promo. While it was playing, seemingly having enraptured Jon's interest, Finn's mind wandered for a bit about the deranged doctor. It was almost comedic to the Young Lion that Herjavech was considering himself a serious threat. It was clear however, that at 'Psycho Castle' - fucking gag me - the news reception there clearly wasn't the greatest as Psycho's facts were merely wrong. Finn had barely interacted with James Raven for starters- to refer to him as an 'enemy' was iffy at best. In addition, to say that Herjavech had done more than a rookie who hadn't even had his first match yet was laughable, what the fuck did he expect?

Herjavech implying that Finn was a coward was the icing on the cake. The attack on Jack Cain was merely to send a message that Finn was ready for Warfare-- of course these attacks wouldn't be commonplace. But most of all, Finn was most certainly no coward. He was more than willing to meet any opponent worth his time in the ring, which was precisely why he didn't want to bother with Psycho in the first place. Finn knew, the fans knew, the wrestlers backstage knew, hell, maybe even Herjavech himself knew that Finn was walking out of this match victorious. Perhaps this was a last-ditch effort by Herjavech to convince people that he had what it takes. Maybe this was just a ploy to pad Finn's stats as he got set to face Jack Cain in whatever stipulation the GMs had for him this upcoming Warfare. Maybe, just maybe...

"Well, that promo certainly was... something."

"I know, right? This guy is just proving my point at this rate, he's a bumbling buffoon. Come Savage, this match will be an open and shut case."

"I'm still worried, dude. This federation is a whole 'nother ball game than what you're used to. Sure, the money is gonna be nice and all, but if you get injured, all that is gonna fly away. And if you got permanently damaged while I just sat on the sidelines and watched, I don't think I could forgive myself."

"Dude, get real. This is Doctor fucking Psycho. The day I get injured and lose to him is the day I fucking die. Hell, even if he manages to kill me, he still probably couldn't beat me, this dude is that bad."

"Dude, no shit. I see the shows with you all the time. But freak accidents happen. My brain is telling me that I should stop you, no doubt."

"And what about your heart? What's that telling you?"

"My heart..?"

"..."

"Well, my heart says to trust you. If I can even consider myself your friend, then I have to supoort you 100%, even if this does look like a bad idea. You're an adult of course, and you can make your own decisions, but--"

"Then trust your heart, man. You've seen me in a fight. You know I can handle this federation full of jokers. You know I'm a champion lying in wait."

Silence.

"Fine. I'll believe you. But if you get hurt, there's no second chances. I don't want to see you end your life over a chance that'll slip away."

A cocky smile slipped onto Finn's face. "Trust me Jon, I won't need a second chance."

"Anyway, I picked out the tickets that'll get us to the LA International Airport, and from there we can get to Universal Studios for Savage either by Uber or by taxi. But there's a small problem..."

"And that is?"

"There's no reservations for hotels. It seems that Hollywood and LA around this time is paradise for tourists, all the hotels in the city are sold out. Unless if we're gonna make camp in a fucking park or something, I dunno what we're doing."

Jon clasped his hands together as he was deep in thought, not sure what the two roommates could do. Finally, after a few seconds of silence, he said, "...Well, there is my Uncle Carter."

"Uh, you sure about that? Last I asked about him to your parents, they told me your Uncle Carter was a fucking moron who had delusions of grandeur."

"Oh come on, he's not that bad. My parents are just angry that he was the favorite between him and Mom when it came to their parents. Besides, you two are quite alike," Jon chuckled.

Carter Williams-- an eccentric, idealistic man who always had aspirations that were bigger than him. He was always considered the oddball in his family, but he put that special kind of creativity to use in theatre, putting on star performances in his younger days, but ultimately the smaller setting wasn't ideal for him. He was always the favorite to his parents like Jon had previously said. This had led to Carter getting an overwhelming share of the inheritence when his father- a wealthy investor- died from cancer complications after battling the disease for nearly 15 years. While Jon's mother got a fair bit which she used to somewhat increase the quality of living for herself, her husband and Jon, it ultimately wasn't enough to move out of Brooklyn, where Jon continued to have a mostly rough upbringing alongside Finn. Carter, meanwhile had gone off to pursue a career in acting, purchasing a home in Hollywood and chased after his dream with minimal success.

Ultimately, Jon was right-- both Carter and Finn were almost too idealistic for their own good, they wanted more out of life. They wanted to live in the lap of luxury financially while proving to themselves that they were worth it as they got the most out of life. If Finn was to live with roommates in a new area almost completely unknown to him, he might as well do it with his best friend and said best friend's uncle that happened to be remarkably like himself.

"Well, I guess that could work in terms of living accomodations. But we'd have to factor in moving costs, we'd have to get used to a whole new area..."

"To be fair Finn, if you're wanting to take a chance on this whole wrestling shit, we're gonna have to take more risks."

"Fair enough," Finn nodded. "And you're sure Carter will accept?"

"Well..., I'm not sure," Jon said sheepishly while rubbing his arm. "Whenever I saw him as a kid, he was always so kind to me and happy to see me... but that was then, this is now. I have no idea how well he's doing, and I have no idea if he's willing to take on roommates."

"Well," Finn yawned, "We can ask him tomorrow. Our airline tickets are set for tomorrow at about noon anyway, we should get at LA around six and be at the arena in time. We can worry about accommodations after the show. Fair?"

"Yeah. Fair," Jon nodded.

"Good," Finn yawned. "In that event, I'm heading to bed, we got ourselves a busy day tomorrow."

As Finn hopped up after closing the laptop with a thud, Jon responded, "Yeah, same. G'night."

"G'night."
