”I took Chris Chaos to the limit. Say whatever you want about my win-loss record, but I stood toe to toe with the champ, and I had his number. It was like a modern reimagining of the movie ROCKY. The supposedly past his prime never-was got his chance at the champ, and the title was on the line. Did our protagonist need to win the title, or was going the distance victory enough for our hero to feel accomplished?

Hell no, I wanted that damned belt!

I brought everything that I had into that ring, and I left it all there by the end of the match. When the title match between myself and Chaos was first set, nobody thought twice about it. It garnered about as much attention as Chaos vs Drezdin might have. I’ll give credit where it’s due. Colten Kato did a hell of a job selling that match.

Leading into Savage, I blamed Chris Chaos for underselling the match. I said that it was his own fault that management felt the need to stack the deck against him. I said that he had undersold the match, so Heyman and Kato set the stipulations in order to give people the slightest reason to believe that I could walk out of Savage as champion. Kato needed a hit for the Main Event. Something huge, and on paper Graves vs Chaos, a perceived squash match wasn't going to cut it.

Kato was forced into booking the match by Chris Chaos. Sure, Kato runs Savage, but as champion, if Chris Chaos wants something, he gets it. The problem was, for Kato anyway, who cared? Who was going to tune in to see Graves, a man that people liked, get destroyed by Chris Chaos? Not only in Kato’s eyes the match was destined to be a dud.

So Kato played his games. First, he made our match an Iron Man match. Feeling that wasn’t enough, he decided to give my fans a reason to believe that I had a shot, despite not having won a singles match since December. He told Chris that if he couldn’t beat me by at least two falls, then I would win the match, and thus the title.

Chris was fuming. He came out on Savage and threatened Kato. He claimed that he would interfere in every match, ruining the entire show, unless Kato dropped the 2 pinfall stip. Kato called his bluff, and Chaos proceeded to pro that he does no bluff. So what does Kato do next? He changes the stip… to 3 falls! Now Chris Chaos must beat me by at least 3 falls, or I win the belt.

Kato knew what he was doing. He was creating drama and controversy. He was giving fans reason to keep their televisions locked on Savage. It was a smart play, credit where due, right?

Here’s the problem, when the bell rang and I stood toe to toe with Chris Chaos, I was no longer the Micheal Graves that lost to Thaddeus Duke. I was no longer the Micheal Graves that forgot that he had a match on Warfare and lost via no contest. I wasn’t even the same man that had all but taken the Hart title away from Robbie Bourbon. On that night, standing in the ring across from Chris Chaos, I was better than I had ever been before.

Twenty minutes into the match, I gave up the advantage. Chaos had earned those chair shots from me, and I didn’t need a 3 fall advantage to beat him. Over half way through the match, I was up 2 to nothing. I was giving the champion the fight of his life and everyone could see it. Chaos made a comeback, though, he fought hard, but with less than a minute left on the clock, I was obviously going to walk out Universal Champion.

And therein lies the problem. Nobody expected me to put up such a fight against Chaos. Nobody thought I had a snowball's chance in Hell of walking out with the title. So when I showed up ready to kick ass and win that gold, it became time to scramble. There’s no way that Kato can allow Graves of all people to win the biggest prize in the XWF right?

Well, tell me something Kato, who in the Hell are you to judge who should and shouldn’t be champion around here? What gives you the right to bring your lanky unkempt ass into MY ring, and lay your slimy hands on ME!?

You claim that it’s just business, that you needed ratings. Yeah okay, like the underdog fan favorite taking the title from the hated asshole Chris Chaos wasn’t going to boost ratings! You know damn well that ending would have boosted Savages ratings more than the fucking screw job ever could have! That would have put Savage on the map Kato, made it must see TV. I had the ability to make Savage a show where anything could happen, but because of YOUR actions, Savage remains the B show. I will get another shot at Chris Chaos, but it won’t be on Savage. It’ll be somewhere that matters, maybe Warfare, maybe a Pay Per View, but not Savage.

Bind Graves and Chaos together for the benefit of the XWF? You’re right Kato, the XWF wants to see more of us killing each other in the ring, but there is no way that you knew that Savage. You couldn’t have possibly seen the ratings until Monday morning at best. What really happened is that you thought CHRIS CHAOS was ratings, he’s MONEY. You knew that I had some fan support, but I can’t draw, I can’t put butts in seats, not like him. Then… THEN… you got a look at the ratings. Chaos was causing pandemonium on the show, and the ratings doubled with each segment, but what happened when I gave that interview backstage? I tripled his numbers!

My fan base was already nothing to laugh at, but now you had everyone from little Timmy to Grandpa Joe wanting to see Graves take that egotistical piece of shit down and shut him up once and for all! I was primed and ready to do it too. I was ready to usher in a new era here in the XWF, but the fact of the matter was that YOU didn’t believe that I was the guy to do it! You had me written off as soon as the match was booked. I wasn’t worthy of the Main Event in your eyes, and you were pissed that this match was going to take place on YOUR Savage. You were happy to have Chris Chaos, but CHAOS versus DREZDIN, versus RANDOM, versus SNOW, versus GRAVES… All the same to you, all crap match ups that have obvious outcomes. You wanted CHAOS versus RENO, versus GILMOUR, versus TRAX… Something with some star power, something that would bring all eyes on your baby, Savage.

Now I’ll admit, I don’t know what your game is booking us in a match on the Main Event of Savage this week, but I’m sure you plan on screwing me somehow. It’s just another attempt for you to put yourself, and by proxy, your show over at my expense. Well heed my words, Kato, it’s not fucking happening this time! I hope for your sake that you have some mighty fine tricks up your sleeves, because I have a week's worth of pent up disappointment and aggression, and Micheal Graves is about to get fucking Savage!”
