FADE IN

8 AM Tuesday Morning

There is a café lies on the corner ahead, it’s painted beautifully, with bright orange and lime paint. Being in Mexico everything is painted bright and full of color just like the people. The paint on the café is glistening from the first golden rays of sunlight. Robert can see the rare rain drops that cling to the bare rusted metal sign that reads café in Spanish. The outside sidewalk that usually bustles in a few short hours is very quiet, the smooth stone walk crumbling away at the sides, cracked and broken from the oblivious to whether. It’s always hot here! Robert slowly smirks passing the flower planter to the right, she is quite beautiful, with long dark hair, as black as night. Her skin kissed by the sun. She glances at Robert for a moment with her beautiful dark eyes and smiles. She then quickly starts tending to the flowers she was starting to plant give passer bye’s flashes of sunny yellows and vibrant oranges through the hot springtime. Robert stops walking and just listens he can hear the heartbeat of the city. By the front door there is a small wooden bench carved from driftwood. Robert takes a seat looking out into the city lighting a cigar leaning back up against the colorful café. He’s wearing his new black XWF tank top, it’s black with a white omega sign that looks like it was splattered on with white paint. He continues smoking his cigar taking in the amazingly beautiful city and all around great day to be alive. He looks at his gold Rolex checking the time. The café doesn’t open for another 10 minutes. This café has the best coffee in all of Mexico.

Robert had seen Graves’s latest two promos. Funny how things can be going one way one second and suddenly change for the worst in the next few seconds. Graves was living large. His confidence at an all-time high. Peter had the same amount of sky high confidence going into his match Saturday night at Savage. But what went worn for these two men? Was it overestimating their own talent? Or was it their ego’s that clouded their thoughts. Both went in and lost in spectacular ways. Take Peter for example this is a man who demands respect and takes it. He stated several he was not only going to go into his match and win the Heart Championship, but he was going to put the reigning champion through hell he has never been through before. Peter fell short literally, crashing through the glass table. Cutting him to shreds and losing his prime opportunity to become a champion yet again. The common theme with these two men is one played out often over the past few years. Combine what they have won together and you’d possibly hit double digit wins. Then you have Graves a man who almost promised to walk out of Savage with the Universal Championship in hand. He was going to do to Chris Chaos what so many others couldn’t get done. What happened? The same thing that always seems to happen. Chris pulled out all the stops and put a dead halt to Graves dreams. Graves fell short now he’s looking at Lethal Lottery to be his second chance at Chaos. Robert has other things in mind. Graves had his chance!

In life when you fail you always seem to need or want a second chance. Graves has had many chances over the years. Warfare he has yet another chance. Robert though will not let this one get away from him. He will not allow a man like Graves or a man like Peter to move forward. Why should they? What have they done to deserve such an opportunity? Fail continuously. The time for reprieves is over. These two have one thing in common they might not be at wits end with each other. But when all the marbles are on the line! They both seem to drop the ball. The failure that has been following these men is like the rain could in the cartoons. It follows them, raining down on their thoughts their dreams. Showing them both they are nothing like they used to be. These two over the past few years have been wrestling on borrowed time. Living off of their names not and past glories. These things alone will not defeat Robert inside the ring. Robert has outwrestled the numbers game before and come out on top. He looks at this no different. In this Lottery Robert has been placed with two partners who are very quiet. Not showing much in the way of words. As long as they do decide to show up and fight. Robert will get behind the wheel and drive them to victory. Though it has become tiresome to carry them men to victory. Robert will keep on doing so until he reaches his ultimate goal! The brief case! That’s all that matters in this who thing. That case could change Roberts’s life forever. But right now he cannot think about the brief case he has to focus on Graves and Peter! Beat them two and move on to the second round.

” You know Graves, it’s funny how you and Peter for that matter seem to bounce back and forth between respecting me and then at the end of the same sentence put me down. I’ve began watching everything in slow-motion trying to figure out what in the hell you two are trying to get at! Confused is an understatement. I did the unthinkable last week in beating Gabe Reno and Chris Chaos? No, Graves, I did exactly what needed to be done. I won the match. I laid it all out on the line and won. I understand though why you might thing I did the unthinkable though. Through your eyes beating Chris Chaos is unthinkable. You cannot fathom it. Because you fail in the ring against them men don’t mean I will follow in the same footsteps. It may be an unthinkable process for you. Something you just cannot get finished up Graves! Me on the other hand. I’m a winner. No matter how it happens or where the chips fall man! I’m a damn winner. Yes I did do something a lot of other people didn’t expect me to do in beating them. Should that change their minds? Don’t really care. You two are making those same mistakes Reno and Chaos made. You’re following just like a bug to a bug zapper. Blinded with who you are, or were to see what is actually right there in front of your face. If you would open those lazy eyes you’d see clearly. The end is right in front of you! Two huge losses in a row for the two of you? Where will you go after this? Hide underneath a rock someplace for a while like in the past? Come back out after a few months?

I’ve thought long and hard after Savage about some of the things I had to say about you. You have come right out and said you are not a legend by any means. The more I see. The more I realize that I did over speak. I was giving you more credit then you rightfully deserve. I thought it might be respectful! Glass half full! Now that the glass is empty I see you Graves, as something else. I was more than wrong when I called you a legend! I’m sorry if I helped your already larger than life ego grow more. You’re no legend by any means or any stretch. You are honesty lucky as hell your even in a main event match at all let alone even be on the card. You are mid card at best! There are guys below the mid card that would stomp a mud hole in your ass then walk it dry. You state your career is far from over. You have a long time to go. I’ll see if I can change your mind come Warfare. Graves, in order to have a career you have to win something here and all of your wins seem to be in the far distant past. Imagine having the chance to become the Universal Champion and failing. Then you get another chance a few days later? Then you fail once more. That’s going to sting a bit Graves. But that familiar sting you’ve become so used to will happen once again, I will knock you two out of this thing! I hope it’s hard for you to sleep at night knowing you let every great chance slip through your greedy fingers. I’ll have someone on suicide watch! You did in fact give me some credit in beating Chris Chaos. But you blame my victory on a chair shot! Chair shot, act of god. Me being the better wrestler. Put whatever you want behind it. The fact of the matter is this Graves. A win is just that! A win! I think what grinds your gears is I did something you here lately can’t seem to do. Get a win over a top guy. I have pinned Chaos, in the past 30 days! Have you? No you lost like the world knew you would. You choked! Let’s just be honest here! A win is a win a loss is a loss no matter what happens around it. Like I said Graves, I’m a winner. You just seem to be a washed up loser. Clinging to day’s gone bye!”

Robert knows Graves and Peters heads are not in the right place. After both them losing a shot at becoming a champion whose head would be? It’s a rough spot to be in. Then your next match you are staring down the barrel of a 45. Their failures though being what they are isn’t Robert’s problem at all. He is going to use their emotions against them. Looking at these two both seem to be very emotionally unstable. One more huge loss and these two might just pack up their things and go home for good. Peter and Graves continuously hit Justin with hard words. Demoralizing him all along the way. Treating him like he was half a man. Graves and Peter both claim Robert isn’t good enough to carry the weight of the load. Knowing full well Justin isn’t a wrestler. They are both foolishly mistaken! Though Justin might not be a wrestler he is a man and every single man can fight! Fight he will! Graves has said he is going to win the whole damn show. Sadly he couldn’t be further from the truth. More or less lose the whole damn show.

Robert gets up from the bench flicking his cigar into the street before walking into the café. He is quickly taken back by the smell of cream cheese smoked salmon bagels, coronation chicken baguettes, the warm aroma of fancy coffee, lattes, espresso and hot chocolate all mixed in the air as one. Square metal tables with glass tops the menu smartly hidden under glass tops, to prevent them from being ruined from the untimely spill. Robert looks towards the ceiling and watches as the slow turning ceiling fans above moves the aroma right out the door. In the background a very light classical music can be heard. He then looks at all the very large picture windows giving a breathtaking view of the sun rising up over the horizon. At each table a small vases of red and white carnations sits quietly inviting guest to take a seat and enjoy their coffee. He glances over at the specials on a chalk board at entrance before walking towards a table in the corner by a window. He cannot help but notice the terracotta rustic tiled floor with each step. As he sits down he is greeted by a few waitresses smiling telling him to make himself at home. Robert takes a seat looking out the window.

” Isn’t it funny Graves? No I mean really? Let’s go back in time a week or so ago! Round one. Who came down to ring side in my match? That was you! You are such a hypocrite Graves. It’s okay for you to do something but not so much when the shoe is on the other foot! You reap what you sew! Karma came back around full circle. Feeding you a lethal dose of your own medicine! Hurts don’t it? Graves, you are the one thing that I have never been! You are the second best in the business. I have never been second best in anything I have ever done in my entire life. I’ve always been the very best at what I do! You on the other hand not so much! You are always going to be nothing more than a runner up getting close but never reaching the top like you one did! Disaster for me and Justin? Given your most recent track record Graves and you to Peter. I highly doubt that. You two are the very definition of losers. Webster’s dictionary is taking the word loser out and replacing it with your faces! Running around spreading false claims! Lies? Graves, nothing I’ve said is anything but the truth. Come down from your ivory tower princess and stop the crying. This woe is me attitude is killing us all listening to you rattle off how pissed you are and crying about your loss all in the same sentence. Warfare the only you are going to accomplish is losing another big match to a man who you both know you cannot beat any day of the week. I’m the better wrestler always will be. You just don’t know it yet.

You had a champion beaten? That’s what you’re going to go with Graves? HAD? That’s all you have to brag about now days is had! Might have had the champion beaten but he walked out with his championship. Then you blame the management around here like they have it out for you Graves. They have it out for the almighty Graves. Give me a break. You will look anywhere to find a scape goat won’t you. What’s next? You didn’t have enough water and you were too dehydrated to compete. You going to sue the company like that moron Blackcoat? They somehow mistreated you? They didn’t give you what you deserved. They have discriminated against you? If that were the case then why in the hell was the odds stacked against Chris? Why where you given a Universal Championship shot? You were handed anything and failed to take full advantage of the opportunity. No screw jobs. You didn’t like Kato out there you should have done something about it. Whining about it now will do nothing but show us how much of a sore loser you actually are! Graves, you show each and every time you open your mouth how dumb you are. Come at me and Justin, with all this built up anger and aggression. I welcome it! That same grit and determination will not get the job done against me either Graves! I will smack you down with no outside interference.”

The waitress stood in front of Robert’s table with what looked like an I pad ready to take his order. As we spoke she tapped the screen to send the order to the kitchen. Then she beamed at him with the enthusiasm of someone who loved their asking if Robert needed anything else. Robert nodded and ordered a black coffee cream and sugar along with his already placed Salmon and egg whites breakfast. The two locked eyes for a moment smiling at each other. Robert has a big place in his heart for exotic women. They love him and he dose likewise. The waitress slowly backs away from the table to fetch his coffee while Robert sits quietly.

Graves and Peter don’t realize the nightmare they are about to be living in first hand. No matter which path they take it always will come back to the hangman's noose in the center of the ring. There was only one way out. On their backs. These two will remember this night for the rest of their lives. They will recall how their bodies jarred with each blow, how the pain seared their skin and took away every feeling of safety they have ever had. In that very moment they both will have realized they no longer knew how to feel. They will be numb to the core, yet somehow in agony. Longing to be free of the pain and suffering from the beating. They will try for years to burry this deep inside their souls. But it will not work. This match will forever change all parties involved.

”Came into this red hot? Yes I did! I’m going to continue that way as well. There isn’t going to be any fizzling out Graves! The only thing that seems to keep fizzling out around here is you. At first you do actually come off strong then towards the end you peter out! I don’t need to bring anything to the ring besides my god given skill. What makes me think I can beat you guys? I have been beating guy like you two my whole career. Here Japan. I smell like smoke for a reason Graves, because I have been through the fire. There is nothing in that ring that you can do to me to make me give up. Nothing you can hit me with to get a three count. I win no matter how this plays out. And if for some reason I would happen to lose for some unlikely reason. You’ll never hear me bitching and crying like you have. Take your loss like a man no matter how bad it hurts and move on. I’ve seen little girls on their period act more like a man than you have been! This damn thing is mine to win! It is my time. You two guys have had chance after chance after chance. I cannot help you have screwed those chances up time and time again. It’s time for the world to see better wrestling. Better champions and better men than you two clowns.”

The waitress stops and hands Robert his cup of coffee. They smile at each other once more before he takes a slow sip. He then sits the coffee down realizing it isn’t the coffee he ordered. He looked down into the smooth, brown milk created a contrast with the mug that lay on the table. The lustrous texture, topped with chocolate crumbles outdated the effect created by the coffee beans which placed themselves outside the mug, begging to be crushed! The vibrant aroma seemed to have extricated itself from the thick, cream coating over the surface, penetrating deep into Robert’s nose. He motions for the waitress to come back over. She walks over with a smile. Robert motion’s the coffee isn’t his. She smiles mentioning she had made something special for him. Robert Nods and ask if she would like to leave with him. She smiles and takes her robe off and sits down next to him. He places his arm around her and picks the coffee up once more and takes another drink.

”Graves and Peter I want you to listen to me. Wednesday night. I will walk out to the ring and I will beat you two. Weather I’m facing the crybabies. Self-proclaimed god. Legends or want to be legends. Kings of Xtreme! No match who walks down that ramp! I will beat your asses. I will win this match with or without the help from my partner. Graves, you asked a simple question why do I think I can beat you two? I have a simple answer for you! Because I am better. I am a winner. That’s why I will beat you two. I’ve heard all the talk I can stand. You’re going to do this and that. Both of you have made some very bold claims. Now let’s see if you can stand by them! Let’s see if you can enforce them. After this match you will be doing what you’re both good at. Losing to a better wrestler. The better man will win this match and that better man is me! Afterwards I’m sure you’ll be crying like a bitch!”

The scene ends with Robert and the beautiful Mexican waitress getting up from the table together.
