(The scene opens with Kitt, who is dressed in his Organization 931 shirt, black athletic pants and black steel toed boots, sitting at his desk in his study, watching the television mounted on the wall as the news report on the Witch Doctor’s spree of pestilence and murder has made the top story. Kitt eyes the television intently, focused on every detail of the mayhem and carnage that has taken place.)
Innocent lives…people’s family…all taken out because of the common bond that they had of cheering on their favorite XWF superstar. Fans…innocent fans that had nothing to do with this new-found rivalry from one of the newest men on the roster….and for what? Fame? Attention? Fear? He has gained his fifteen minutes of fame…he has without a shadow of doubt gained my attention…but fear? No…no fear. I fear no man…I back down from no man. Anger…hatred…that’s the emotions that have been unlocked. Pain…suffering…are the actions that have been brought forth. Johnathan and his father…Jacob Kelley…everyone that has fallen due to the actions of this coward will be avenged…their deaths will not go unpunished. When you push a man to his limits…you break a barrier that is there… a barrier that is not there for their protection of what is deep down inside of them…but rather for your’s.
(Kitt shakes his head and reaches for the remote that is laying on the desk. He turns the news report off and tosses the remote aside. He leans back in his chair, placing his hands behind his head and he closes his eyes.)
…you can see it, if you just close your eyes…
There comes a time Kitt, when you have to let the monster inside out…let it roam free to do what it does best…right the wrongs and injustices that have been committed. Those people didn’t have to die…uncalled for…unnecessary…but yet he took it upon himself to decide who is worthy to live or die based on their personal choice…who does he think he is…God? No…far from it…he speaks in riddles and tries to strike fear in the hearts of the people…he’s nothing but an imitation Riddler and you are his Batman…standing up for what’s right…avenging those that no longer have that opportunity. The key to it all lies deep inside Kitt…festering…waiting to be unleashed once again…there’s no reason to fight it…let it go…
(Images from the past begin to flash through Kitt’s head. Two men dressed in black rush a woman in the backstage area of a DIWF show. They grab her, hoisting her up onto their shoulders as they run towards the door. She kicks and screams as they carry her out of the arena to an awaiting van that speeds off into the night. Inside the van the men bind he hands and feet together, taping her mouth shut with duct tape. After she is secure the men remove their masks to reveal Kitt Kennedy and Chuck Conry as the abductors. Chuck is smiling and he reaches over and smacks Kitt across the chest lightly.)
Chuck: We did it! We got Genesis’ wife! This should get his attention now shouldn’t it.
Abduction of another man’s wife…binding her up so she can’t escape…making her scared for her life…how does this make me any better than the Witch Doctor?
You made sure she was always safe…you protected her when others wanted to harm her…you stood up to ensure she would be returned safe and sound.
(Images of Kitt unlocking a door and entering a small room where the woman is being held flash into his mind. He brings her food and water which she hesitantly takes.)
Kitt: It’s going to be okay. Nothing bad is going to happen to you, that I promise.
(She looks at Kitt and he smiles a genuine smile. Chuck walks into the room and Kitt looks up at him as does the woman.)
Chuck: What the fuck Kitt? Treating her like she matters and shit?
(Chuck goes to grab the food from the woman but Kitt quickly grabs Chuck and slams him against the wall.)
Kitt: Don’t…touch…her…got it?
You made good on that promise Kitt…you have always been the one to protect those that have meaning in your life by any means necessary… You have to go deeper Kitt…you haven’t scratched the surface yet…you still don’t understand…
(Images again flash through Kitt’s head. Kitt is walking down a corridor from his dressing room. He has just been signed to the DIWF and is prepared for his first match. As he walks down the hallway he sees a large, burly man who has a young petite blonde cornered next to a vending machine and is giving her a hard time. Kitt looks concerned and heads over quickly.)
Kitt: Hey! Is everything okay over here?
Man: (turns towards Kitt) Get outta here, this doesn’t concern you.
Kitt: Why don’t you leave her alone and get out of here.
(The man snickers and quickly punches Kitt square in the face, dropping him to the floor on his back, blood spewing from him mouth and nose. The man laughs as he turns back to the young woman who has a look of fear on her face as she locks eyes with Kitt. Kitt’s face contorts into a scowl as he gets up on his elbow and wipes the blood from his mouth. Kitt looks down at it before he jumps to his feet and grabs the man from behind, smashing his head into the glass of the vending machine repeatedly, the glass turning bright red as the shards cut deeper and deeper into the man’s face. Security quickly pounce on the two men and separate them. Kitt backs away as the man falls to the floor, bleeding profusely from the wounds on his face. Kitt turns back to the young woman.)
Kitt: Are you okay?
(She nods. Kitt extends his hand to her and she slowly reaches out to take it, clearly shaken by what just happened.)
Kitt: I’m Kitt…Kitt Kennedy.
Woman: I’m Kelsey.
I got suspended that night for my violent outburst. Delayed my debut for two months.
But you used that anger…that fire…to right the wrongs of others…embrace it Kitt…it’s your most useful weapon…
It’s what puts me in trouble. It puts me in situations I don’t need to be in. I got fucking suspended for that shit.
But you are in a different environment now, Kitt…one that won’t condemn your violent nature…won’t judge you for doing what you do best…you still aren’t connecting the dots Kitt…go deeper…you have to find that missing link…when did you let the monster completely out…when did it feel…right?
(It all clicked. Like a bolt of lightning hitting him the scenes whirled thorough his mind….the night he attacked Jack. Vivid images of the razor and barbed wire Louisville Slugger smashing into Jack’s body, blood splatter hitting Kitt as he rips the cold metal out of his victim and brings the malicious bat back down to strike again. The shouting…screams…all flooding through Kitt’s mind. It’s all so real that he can almost touch it. The image of Kitt standing over Jack’s motionless body as the pavement is slowly being covered with the crimson stain of blood flowing from the multitude of cuts left from the attack. That feeling of justification rushes back over Kitt just as it had that night. Kitt’s face scrunches as if he is fighting against an urge….and then suddenly he appears at peace.)
Jack lived. I didn’t kill him…I should have but I didn’t. He paid the price for what he did…paid in full…the rush of adrenaline…the feeling of satisfaction that he knew I wasn’t going to take his shit.
Yes…you finally see what has been there all along. The violence doesn’t have to be repressed, Kitt. The urge can finally be quenched. The Witch Doctor “preaches” to the masses….trying to twist their brains and control them with his scare tactics…nothing but smoke and mirrors…it’s time Kitt…time to eradicate the XWF of this nuisance…it’s time…
(Kitt’s mind goes blank…no thoughts…just darkness. A small pinhole of light pierces the darkness and slowly grows larger. Out of the light steps a figure whose is silhouetted so that all you can see is the outline and the figure remains dark. As the figure slowly walks the outline of Kitt’s custom Louisville Slugger can be seen in it’s right hand.)
You are the Savior of the XWF Kitt…yea, as I walk through the valley of the shadow of death….I will fear no evil…because I’m the baddest motherfucker in the valley!
(The figure flashes quickly and then zips forward, leaving behind darkness. Back in the study of the Kennedy mansion the camera focuses in on Kitt’s face, still at peace. His eyes suddenly open, a look of intensity and violence burns within them. Kitt slowly leans up in his chair and looks at what lies before him on the table where his whiskey decanter and glasses are…his bat. Kitt gets up and crosses the room to pick it up. It felt good in his hand. Kitt smiles as he slowly walks towards the doorway. As he walks, Kitt begins to sing but the song isn’t the same…it’s slower, creepier…almost chanting the lyrics…)
Kitt: I told the Witch Doctor I was in love with (brings the bat to eye level) you….I hear the sounds he’ll make when I introduce you two….Ooh, eeh, ooh, ah, ahhhhhhhhh……
(Kitt exits the study and walks out of sight as the camera fades to black.)
