The hum of the plane's em fines gad lulled the Child of Cain into a deep slumber. He laid his head back on the pillow, still exhausted. He'd woke up at seven this morning and went straight to the gym for a training session. Then, it was onto lunch with Shelly, his personal interviewer and newfound friend. But what really took it out of him was the match that night with Joey Hawkins. The two men had fought with all their hearts for the fans, and in the end, (REDACTED) had come out ib top. It was a sheer battle of wills between a veteran superstar and a young rookie.
Like his father though, Darkwynd was more than just a "pro wrestler". Long ago, he had been created in the image of Cain. Only smaller and faster than his "father". He was a product of the world's first murderer and a kindly young nun, so the confusion in his head, in his soul was great. The confusion was so great sometimes that other voices came out. Like good and evil were trapped in his soul, clawing to get out. But he had a hold on his demons. He knew how to control them. He'd never murdered a man who didn't deserve it.
He slept soundly. Until....
Boom!
He was startled awake by the sound of a loud explosion, the plane itself rocked by the vibration. The plane began a downward spiral as he dug his fingernails into the arms of his seat. He glanced around for a moment, and blinked as he realized that he was the only one on the plane. Suddenly, the lights in the plane dimmed, and he felt a cold chill wash over his entire body. He looked up, and noticed that in the door to the cockpit, there stood a huge figure. He instantly knew who it was. How could he not?
"Father?"
His Father stood on his feet as if the plane experienced no turbulence whatsoever. The grin on Cain's face was dripping with venomous evil, a reflection of his poisoned soul. Darkwynd worked at the seatbelt as his murderous father edged closer, alarms sounding from the cockpit as the plane plummeted toward the ocean below.
"I've heard what you've said about me, "son.""
Darkwynd narrowed his eyes in hatred. He didn't expect to be in the situation, but the sad thing about it was that he was stuck between a rock and a hard place. He was pretty much fucked right now, considering that the simple fact was that he and his father were the only ones who could truly kill each other. He gasped and his eyes went wide as Cain's talons dug into the seat on either side of him, Cain's sneer was frightening in itself, plus this descent was taking forever. Cain spoke slowly.
"You are to forget my name completely. Do you understand? Donating my genes to create you was the biggest mistake I have ever made. But since you are of my blood, I am considering letting you live. So, forget me, "son".
Just then, that same sarcastic smirk crossed the face of Darkwynd.
"Damn, dad. Have you ever heard of Listerine? Your breath really IS like a dragon's!"
A low growl came from the chest of the last son of Eden.
"You DARE speak to your FATHER like this?!"
"Well, "dad" mom always told me to tell the truth."
"Fucking god-loving whore."
He felt the rage well up inside of him at his father's comment, a fire burning inside of him. Sister Alice Nicole was a saint of a woman who died a virgin. Never touched by man. But she had raised Darkwynd from infancy. No, he wasn't a goth. He was a man we it a black mark on his soul who chose to use the power he was gifted with to save lives rather than take them. She had raised him to be honorable. But with his father about to kill him, he had no choice.
"Fuck you!"
He quickly raised a foot, right into the crotch of his dad. Cain doubled over in pain. That was a weakness of every male. As Cain laid there, he pulled a small blade out of his pocket. He quickly cut the seatbelt, and stepping over his father, made a run for it.
"Screw you, dad!"
And he ran. And ran. And ran some more. It seemed as of the farther he ran the further the emergency door got away. Suddenly, our young hero was stopped in his tracks as the very floor of the plane became as gooey as marshmallows. Try as he might, he could not free himself of the sugary confection, and he watched in horror as Cain once again neared him. He had never felt this feeling before. It was new to him. His father's Corey red gaze sent chills down his spine as he shivered. Cain cackled.
"You cannot run from me. Noone can run from me, boy. I am as old as time itself, and no man can escape what I embody. No man can escape death, James. Not even my own blood."
Not one to beg and plead, the young Darkwynd stood fast against his father. He swung at the first murderer, the force of his punch causing Cain's jaw to vibrate and crack a bit. But still, Cain stood like a statue so James swung again and again. Every hard blow struck true, but none even affected the demon. Cain laughed the entire time.
:Hahahahaha this is rich, boy! You want to TICKLE me?! No, son...the time for games is over. Evolve or perish, son. There are no two ways about it."
"I won't be like you, father. That cannot happen! I won't let it!"
Cain sighed and turned his back on his son. Sharpening his claws, he looked down at the floor with a frown.
"What? A minute ago you spoke of me forgetting you exist, and now you are telling me to evolve? That makes no sense. What do you want from me?"
"A son that I can be proud of?"
Darkwynd stood there in awe of his father's response. He tilted his head. First of all, he had bo idea for the life of him why his father was just toying with him. Secondly, he thought his father wanted him to forget him. Yet, here he was, and he spoke of evolution. Suddenly, James noticed a smaller figure out of the corner of his eye. A young boy, no more than ten years old stood there, in a little sailor's suit. He rubbed his eyes, and upon closer inspection, noticed that it was him. He shook his head as "Jimmy" stared back at him.
"Don't do it, DW."
The confusion had gotten worse.
"Do what, Jimmy? Join him? Never."
"The darkness in your heart is strong. I can feel it...I know his hold on you is becoming stronger. But fight it...don't do it. Please don't make us be bad. We're good boys!"
Darkwynd fell to his knees as the voices grew louder. There was his father's blood, calling out from inside of him. Then there was his mother's spirit, the benevolent Jimmy. He began weeping into his hands, and felt something viscous on his palms. He thought it was facepaint at first. But as he opened his eyes, he noticed that this was blood. He cried tears of blood. Cain sneered down at him.
"You're a fucking failure. Look at you, James. Crying just like your human bitch mother. It's too bad you're so worthless. I didn't want to have to kill you. It was supposed to be YOU who killed me! But what do you do?! You cower before me! You're no son of mine. You need to grow the fuck up and realize what you are. Come on. Do it "
"Wake up, DW!"
He felt a soft hand on his shoulder, and Jenny's voice suddenly became that of a woman. Suddenly, he heard his name...over and over.
"James?"
"James? Wake up, hon. We just landed. Wake uuuuuup!"
However, he did not move.
