OOC: This RP takes place during the same time period as “The Prodigal Son Returns…sort of.” and before NAZI's RP....Oh Shit...

It’s Isabel Jacob’s first day at Pryce Industries, she showed up yesterday for an interview with the CEO, going in she thought that she was a longshot, sure she had a formidable educational background, as well as some but not a lot of real life experience. Of course it sounds crazy but people are passed over for jobs all the time for being “over qualified”. It seems like the most ridiculous thing ever, overqualified? What does that even mean anyway? Let’s check.

over•qual•i•fied
adjective \-ˈkwä-lə-ˌfīd\
: having more experience, knowledge, or training than is needed

Since when is having more of anything except for perhaps Zeke’s Aids considered a bad thing? Seriously. Isabel Jacob’s is uniqually overqualified for the job she was just hired to do, but here she is. 8 am on her first day at Pryce Industries. In fact she actually arrived 30 minutes early. She was so excited to begin her new life that she couldn’t sleep the night before. At 5:00am she was running her daily 10 miles on her treadmill, after that it was a shower and a nutrition shake and then out the door. Currently Isabel drives a 2009 Honda Civic but now with her new job and her new lofty salary of $65,000 a year the hope is that she can afford something nicer, something that speaks a little more to her new position in life.

At 7:30 Isabel arrived at the underground parking structure of Pryce Industries, gave her name to the Security Guard who seemed to look at her for a few seconds more than he really needed to, to verify that her face matched the ID badge she was wearing. After an awkward couple of seconds the guard pointed to where she was to park, a spot specifically labeled “Mr. Pryce’s P.A”. Car was parked and now Isabel took the elevators up to the Executive Floor where her new office was. There were already a handful of people at the office. As Isabel makes her way down the hallway she can hear Erica Rayner, the Executive VP of Operations in her office yelling at someone. She has yet to meet Ms. Rayner but chances are pretty good that she will in the very near future and Isabel is hoping against hope that her first impression does not see her on the receiving end of one of Ms. Rayner’s famous yelling matches.

After spending roughly 20 minutes setting up her office with various personal items as well as organizing the items that were given to her, laptop, pens, desk calendar etc she makes her way over to Theo Pryce’s office, greeted first by his secretary.

“Hi Linda, is Theo in yet?”

“Yes he is. Go on in.”

“Thank you.”

Isabel knocks on the left side of the double doors of Theo’s office before pushing her way in. Seated at his desk is Pryce Industries CEO Theo Pryce. As Isabel starts to make her way into the room Theo glances up to see who it is and then goes back to reading whatever was on his screen, unphased by his new visitor. Isabel tries not to take it personal, Theo is a busy man and probably in the middle of a really important email or something of that sort, yeah, that's what she will go with, he's busy.

“Good morning Isabel. Good to see you. I take it everything went well with your new employee paper work yesterday?”

“Yes sir, everything went great.”

“I told you yesterday, call me Theo.”

“Yes sir…Theo. Yes Theo.”

“Have a seat Isabel, there are a few things I would like to go over with you briefly. I have a phone call that I need to take in a little bit so I don’t have a whole lot of time but I definitely want to spend some time with you to go over some of the important things.”

“Of course. Do you need me here to take notes during your phone call?”

“Notes? What? No, that won’t be necessary. But now that you mention it, for certain calls, that might be interesting to have you here taking notes. Less for me to remember. Excellent idea Isabel. Your predecessor never did that.”

“I’m sure they would have if you asked.”

“He absolutely would have if I asked him to, but you thought of it yourself. That’s the kind of on the toes thinking I need around here. As for my call later, are you familiar with professional wrestling.”

“Not really the sport so much as individual people. Hulk Hogan, guys like that.”

“Of course, everyone knows the Hulkster. Nice guy. His son’s a bit of a shit bag and his daughter a bit odd, but when Hulk Hogan is your father I can see how those things would happen. Anyway, in my spare time, of which I don’t have an abundance of, but what time I do have I spend working for a company called the X-treme Wrestling Federation. I assume you have never heard of it?”

“That’s correct. But I can do some research on it if you would like?”

“Sure, do that. But in regards to my call later, it is with the X-treme Wrestling Federation and the business I do for them, so needless to say you will not be needed to take notes for that call. I won’t waste your time on, shall I say, non company business.”

“Are you sure? I don’t mind at all.”

“No that’s ok. Plus I am fairly certain that my sister would prefer that I not have anyone here spend their time doing work that does not pertain to Pryce Industries.”

“Your sister?”

“Ah yes, probably some more information you need to know. Erica Rayner, have you had a chance to meet her?”

“No I have not. I saw her in her office earlier but she seemed to be engaged in a conversation at the time.”

“Now when you say engaged I assume you mean she was yelling?”

“Yes she was.”

“Yeah that is sort of her thing. But anyway, Erica is my sister. Half sister actually. Her bark is far worse than her bite I assure you. I may be the CEO but she pretty much runs this place, you would do you well to remember that. Try and get on her good side, trust me when I tell you this, being on her bad side is probably the last place on Earth you want to be.”

“I’ll keep that in mind. Any tips on how to stay on her good side?”

“Yell at me.”

“What?”

“Scold me, don’t give into my bullsCENSORED, and believe me, there will be bullsCENSORED. And when there is, give it right back to me. Stand up for yourself. You do that, especially in front of her and she will defend you until her dying breath.”

“That’s….I don’t know, that seems kind of unprofessional.”

“Yeah, in a way it is but it works. We fight like your cliché brother and sister but at the end of the day we are family and that’s all that matters.”

“Family is extremely important.”

“Do you have any siblings?”

“I have a twin sister.”

You can see the gears spinning in Theo’s head as he processes his next thought….”A twin, that must be fun.”

“Yes and no. It’s better now, growing up it was tough but there is something to be said for having a built in best friend so to speak.”

“Sure. What does she do?”

“She is an Oncologist in Cedar Sanai in Los Angeles.”

“Cancer? That’s no fun. That hospital is Non Profit Research Facility is it not?”

“It is.”

Theo presses a series of 3 digits on his phone which then triggers an interoffice phone call. After two rings a male voice comes out over the phone speaker.

“This is Jim Davis.”

“Jim it’s Theo.”

“Theo great to hear from you. What can I do you for?”

“I’d like you to cut a check for $50 million dollars to Cedar Sanai Hospital in Los Angeles, make sure it's earmarked for Oncology Research.”

“Did I hear you right, you said $50 million?”

“Yes you did. Feel free to take it out of my discretionary account.”

“Very good.”

“And please have it overnighted there.”

“Would you like to include a note or something with the check?”

“Yes I would. Have it say. “Thank you for all that you do.””

“Will do.”

Theo hangs up the call and looks back at his new P.A, who seems somewhat shocked at the course of events that took place.

“That was so thoughtful. I can’t believe you just did that.”

“What good is having money if you don’t spend it on things that are important?”

“Absolutely. That was so sweet. I am sure they will be so thrilled. I can’t wait to tell my sister what you just did.”

“You don’t have to. I didn’t do it for recognition. (No he did it for far more primal reasons, but Isabel doesn’t need to know that.) I did it because I can.”

“Well it was extremely thoughtful of you. I am so fortunate to work with someone so charitable as yourself.”

“Well thank you. Back to my sister real quick, you will probably notice in rather short order that she doesn’t really recognize the need to let me know ahead of time that she is stopping by for a visit. In fact, 90% of the time she just bursts into my office and when she does she usually isn’t happy.”

“Theo!!”

“Speak of the devil.”

Isabel’s head swings around so fast you would think she pulled a muscle doing it. Isabel stands up as Erica approaches Theo’s desk, before Erica can get her next thought out Theo preempts here with an introduction.

“Erica, I would like you to meet my new P.A, Isabel Jacobs.”

Erica glances quickly at Isabel, her expression remains unchanged. “Charmed.”

“Isabel, if you will excuse me, it appears Erica and I have some business to attend to. I will call you later if I need anything.”

“Thank you.”

Isabel walks out of the office, a little quicker than she probably would under normal circumstances, as the doors close shut behind her Erica launches into her tirade.

“What did you do?”

“That’s a pretty vague question Erica. What did I do…”

“To Nathaniel, what did you to do Nathaniel? He’s been pissed off for the last three weeks and when I ask him why he says to ask you. Last night we had a huge fight because I tried to get him to talk to me but he won’t open up at all.”

“Well Erica, and this may come as a bit of a surprise to you, but Nathaniel and I don’t always see eye to eye on things. I guess you could chalk that up to the pitfalls of being a genocidal narcissist with delusions of grandeur. “

“Are we talking about him or you?”

“That’s cute. I’m talking about your boyfriend. Look, it’s like this. He and I no longer have a working relationship. That was partially my decision.”

“Partially?”

“Well yes Erica, it is possible for more than one person to be at fault. I changed the terms of our working relationship, your boyfriend did not agree to that change and thus we do not work together anymore.”

“That’s it? He’s pissed off over a stupid work squabble?”

“Well it’s slightly more than a work squabble, but that is the general picture, if you want to paint with broad strokes. Would you like me to speak with him?”

“No, thank you. You’ve done enough.”

“Alright then. But if you change your mind, just let me know. And also, if you could, I would really appreciate it if you could stop by Isabel’s office on your way out and introduce yourself. You and I both know that you would prefer that Isabel’s first impression of you not be of you busting in here fuming.”

“Sure, I’ll do that for you.”

“Thank you.”

Erica exits the office and Theo immediately picks up his telephone, presses a 10 digit sequence, the phone rings once and a voice answers…

“Hello.”

“It’s me. We have a problem.”

Fade out.
