(song that Zak is playing. :) )

The sound of a baby grand filled the large ballroom, the moons immortal gaze the only light for the man at the piano. His pale fingers dancing across the keys, more emotion poured into a song than words or actions.

It’s called Light and Shadow by Philip Wesley…he’s not a very popular pianist but his skill is remarkable. So much emotion placed in a simple song…It is something of the Unknown should the other two men in my match should appear. I know nothing of one man but the other…The Hardcore Icon I believe he calls himself…A man I used to work with back in another company. He never did much there to impress me, mainly just ran his mouth but alas…that’s what we all do until the day of our match.

The door facing the piano opened, revealing a woman wearing a long, black silk nightgown that seemed to flow down her body like water.

Shouldn’t you be in bed?

The man smiled, “Just thinking.

Never once did his playing stop, it flowed from the piano like a lazy river over river rocks. The woman walked over and gently did she place her hands on his shoulders, one of them slipping down his chest slightly.

You haven’t played since their deaths.

It calms me. Why are you not in bed with Radio?

Micah smiled, “The playing woke me up. I figured it must be bad if you decided to dust off the keys.

Zak sighed and leaned back against his sister, his fingers softly dancing across the keys, “Just wanted to calm the beast before my match.

She bent down and kissed his forehead, tucking some of the hair behind his ear,
You will be fine, brother.

He smiled and stared at the piano, remembering how comforting and soothing it was to the souls that laid claim to his body.

It’s such a fitting song…

For the two of us.

Not just that.

Zak looked up at his sister, confusion written on his face, “What are you talking about, sister?

All of us in this house. Think of all the light and shadows that adorn our souls, even you smelled a demon upon walking into the house when Michael was rambling to himself. You are not one to be taken as a fool.

It would look as if the bond between brother and sister were more than just that but rest assured, before any incestuous comments start floating around, that is not the case. Micah and Zak’s relationship was a bit more than brother and sister but that would be the case with anyone should their older sibling become their Sire.

Go to bed, brother. A night up playing the piano will do you no good. Tomorrow, we will train for the match against Sal and some other person…did you ever catch his name?

Zak shook his head, “Alas, no. I don’t really care about him though…I highly doubt he will show up, he has yet to make his presence known.

He stopped playing and stood, pulling the cover down on the keys and facing his sister. His eyes landed on the scar on her right shoulder and he looked down. He still felt bad that he couldn’t prevent her getting hurt. Micah, knowing the look, covered her shoulder with her hand.

It doesn’t hurt anymore. It’s the past and I am not that worried about it.

She cocked her head and smiled, lying just a bit about her shoulder. Very few things triggered the pain but it was mostly a truth. Zak just smiled and pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly against his chest. He hated when his coven was broken apart, call it separation anxiety for a lack of a better term. Micah took his hand and pulled him across the floor to the doors on the far side of the room.
The manor was split into two main wings. Zak and Ally in one wing with Michael and Micah in the other…not that Zak enjoyed that but he didn’t have a choice. It was the first time Ally enforced the contract by ordering him away from that wing of the house.

Bed, brother. Tomorrow we will train. Promise.

Micah stood on her toes and kissed his cheek before moving across the floor towards her wing of the manor and back to Radio, who was now standing in the doorway, watching the two of them. Zak stood there, watching how Radio held his sister before they went to bed, fighting back a snarl. No…he had to behave…Bigg E and Sal would be the first to see the Vampire’s rage…he just needed to curve the demon until then.
