“Being a night-demon must be a lonely job? That’s what most people would think of the figures that travel through you unconsciousness.

These people are wrong. A night-demon is trained by the order to ensure there is not an ounce of emotion left within there body, nothing that may compromise any missions that are in hand. Within the mind of a demon there is nothing but the job, the mission.
For me though as an apprentice to the demon Nightmare, I still haven’t learned to not let my emotions fully disappear, I still have some emotions running through my mind, anger being the main offender. This is why my master believes he cannot fully leave me to complete any missions on my own. This anger sometimes takes over me which can lead to things being completed in the wrong way, a dangerous way.
My master’s slight negativity towards my ability to control my emotions unfortunately leads to another of the emotions I struggle to control to show itself, frustration. I find myself frustrated quite often when my master insists on being with me on any missions he sets for me to take on. I just need to be able to prove him wrong, to show him I am further along with my development than he may think. I need to show him that he can trust me. To do this I have felt that I may need to break that trust first. That is why I am here.
I am here sat on this rocking chair in the bedroom of our next victim. My master had made me aware of this mission previously. As always he had forbid me to attempt the mission alone without his supervision. He had been summoned to a meeting with the Powers that be and had insisted on me waiting for his return. On this occasion I didn’t. I wanted to prove to him once and for all that I do not need to be babysat anymore, that I can hold my emotions in check and could successfully complete a mission. As I sit her now I fear that it was my emotions that have led me to take such drastic and dangerous actions. I have been a fool and I am sure now I will be punished accordingly.
That being said if I can complete this mission now without any of the mistakes my master Nightmare is convinced I will make, then maybe the punishment will be less severe, or may be not. There is only one way to find out. I need to complete this mission to the quality and precision that my master Nightmare would. Among the brotherhood of Night-Demons he is commonly known as the best. His attention to detail along with his fearsome presence makes him the perfect demon, when a victim see’s that mask in there dreams it is the single most frightening experience of there lives, you look up at the mask and into the eyes and you can see nothing. Nightmare gives nothing away except for your fear, he brings your fear out of you with ease and once he has it he holds it until you are left a shivering wreck curled up on the floor in a pool of your own tears.
My aim as his Apprentice is to be the same as my master. Against his better judgement I feel that I am almost there so this job shouldn’t be a problem.
It is a simple mission where the subject needs to be brought to his knees for the terrible actions he had performed in his life. The targets name is Trevor Willcox. Trevor is a 56 year old Londoner who in his younger days was an enforcer for one of the most notorious London gangsters of all time. Trevor’s job was simple, the gangster needed a debt collected it was Trevor who did the collecting, at any cost.
You see, this gangster ran a section of London known as the east end, Anybody who wanted to set up business there could only do so on his say so. If you were one of the lucky ones you he allowed to set up shop in the east end then you had the pleasure of cutting him in on any of the profits your business made no matter what the business entailed. I didn’t matter if it was illegal or legal this guy had the rights to you and your money. If you were one of the unlucky people who may have had a few bad months on the business front you would inevitable get a knock at your door from Trevor.
You either paid up in full or paid a certain amount of what you owe with the promise that the rest would be coming soon. If it was the former you must suspect there would be a higher interest added onto your original debt value. Sometimes if you caught Trevor in a good mood and you could prove a valid reason as to why you couldn’t pay up he would give you a reasonable amount of extra time to get the money together, about twenty-four hours normally. If you were still short of the debt after this grace period that Trevor and his boss were so kind to bestow upon you Trevor would visit again. This time he would be a little less nice.
He would normally have his knuckle duster buried into one pocket and his “little friend Stanley” (knife) in the other. If you were unfortunate enough to get this visit you can ensure a rough time.
You would hear the Knock at the door and your heart would sink into the pit of your stomach, you could always tell if it was Trevor’s knock. It was firm with a determined sound about it. You knew if you were being visited for the second time that you better have something for him. The people who had the money to pay off there debt need not worry, as soon as you opened the door and handed over the money a smile would cross Trevor’s face and he would remove his hand from his pocket leaving the brass knuckles or knife behind. ”Thank you but try to be a little more prompt next time.” That would be it Trevor would turn and walk away and you wouldn’t see him again until the next month where the process would all start again.
If however on this second occasion you still haven’t got the money to pay your debt, you would find a very different Trevor. He would still come across nice and understanding at the start. ”Oh, I am sorry to hear that, may I come in and maybe we can sort something out to help you.” You knew Trevor didn’t want to help you but there was nothing you could do, it was easier to allow him into the house than it was to keep him outside. Once inside the knuckles would be out and he would proceed to beat on you until you were unconscious. Once unconscious he would rip your shirt off and pull the knife out of his pocket. He would then carve into your chest the amount you owe. He would then leave you unconscious and battered and bloody on the floor of your home for your family to find later in the day. It was scary to think that this was only your first warning. I am afraid to say that many of the houses and businesses in the east end area would suddenly go up for sale, normally after the previous owner had gotten himself into too much of a debt. I’m not saying Trevor got rid of them completely but witnesses would always say the last time they saw them there were getting into the back of a white van with another unknown man and then driven away.
So needless to say Trevor had not been a very nice person throughout his life. Now he is retired and living in a very nice house with his family outside of London in Reading. He had left that life behind and now just enjoyed the profits he had made from it.
So here I am now sat in Trevor’s bedroom as he lies asleep in his bed. He is alone. His wife has taken there sons to see there grandmother in Newcastle for the weekend so there should be no unnecessary interference when I begin Trevor’s nightmare.
My master Nightmare had previously briefed me on all knowledge that is required with regards to the victim. Although my master does not expect me to be here without him he would always give me the full information required. I know that Trevor’s biggest fear in the world is water. No not just a cup of water or whatever but the sea or being in any form of water where his feet cannot touch the ground.
At a very young age Trevor had an experience in which he almost drowned in a swimming pool. His family were on holiday in Spain. As a seven year old boy Trevor was bored, he was sat on a towel next to the swimming pool, his mother was reading a book and father was reading a British news paper. He had an older brother and older sister that had wandered off to the shops on there own. Trevor was just left sat here getting ignored. He wanted to play in the swimming pool but there was nobody to take him in, is mother had forbid if from entering the pool on his own as he had not yet learnt to swim. He didn’t care though he was bored, bored, bored. He begged his mother and father to take him in, they just ignored him and carried on reading the respective for of literature. Finally the young Trevor gets to his feet and makes his way to the edge of the pool. His mother hadn’t noticed him move so just continued to read her book oblivious to anything else. Trevor sat on the edge of the pool and dangled his feet into the water. A group of kids were playing with a ball in the pool, laughing and joking around with each other. There was a stray throw from one of the boys and the ball landed in the water just in front of Trevor. The boy’s beaconed Trevor to pass them the ball back but he could see it was out of reach for him. The boys carried on “Hey, Kid pass us the ball.” Not wanting to disappoint the older boys he got on top his hands and knees on the side of the pool and stretched his arm out to reach the ball that was floating on top of the water. He stretched a little more, and a little more, finally his finger tips touched the ball just enough to push the ball back towards the older boys who turned away and continued with there game, they didn’t hear the splash as Trevor lost his balance on the edge of the pool and fell in. He splashed around for a while but it seemed so quick that he was soon sinking to the bottom of the pool. It felt as if stars where flashing in his eyes as he swallowed more and more water, he was drowning and nobody was coming to help. Suddenly he could see a bright light and he felt himself begin to get peaceful, he was no longer moving just staring at people’s feet kicking in the pool. Some arms suddenly wrapped around him as he saw his older sisters face under water with him. She kicked to the surface then suddenly Trevor felt the warm sun as his older brother reached over and pulled him out of his sister’s arms and onto the side of the pool. He began to cough and splutter as all the water he had swallowed made his way up his throat and out of his mouth, he could hear his parents and sister crying as his bother helped him cough up the water. He doesn’t remember anything after that, nothing else about that holiday but the feeling of drowning has stayed with him and is the cause of his fear of water.
Now I am sure you will agree that this is a terrible thing to happen to a seven year old boy. However this was not a catalyst for Trevor to make the life choices he did as a grown man, this had know baring on the lives he had ruin in his older years so he still has to pay, and unfortunately for Trevor this is his one fear so this is where we will strike.
The Apprentice gets up out of the rocking chair and slowly makes his way towards Trevor’s sleeping body tucked up cosy in bed. He spares a thought for his master Nightmare who has a match with Neil Capra this Saturday. This is all he needs while trying to prepare for that, me going against him. The Apprentice quickly pushes those thoughts out the back of his mind and continues on towards his victim.
He reaches the bed and then reaches out towards Trevor. He slowly and carefully places his hand upon the head of the sleeping victim and then closes his eyes himself.
The Apprentice opens his eyes again and he can see that his plan had worked. His hand was still resting on the head of the sleeping Trevor but they were no longer in Trevor’s nice warm bed, they were sat on a small boat out in the middle of some ocean.
The Apprentice removes his hand from the head of Trevor, as he does this Trevor’s eyes open and he quickly jumps back when he notices the hooded masked man staring back at him and the fact that he was not in bed but on a little boat with the waves crashing the edges all around him.
He looks all around and can’t see and land, none at all, where is he.
The Apprentice begins to talk.
I am The Apprentice, It has been chosen as your turn to be punished for all the wrongs you have committed.
The assaults, The murders, The extortion and the drugs.
You will be punished for all of them by me a demon of the night.
The brotherhood of demons, know all about you.....Trevor Willcox. Most importantly we know your one fear and we know how that fear came about. We will now use that fear to punish you and our hope is to fix you, return you to the time before you found the life of crime and deceit.
Are you ready for your Nightmare to begin?
Before Trevor can answer the question The Apprentice kicks him in the chest causing him to topple backwards into the ocean. His head goes under briefly but as it comes back out above the water again he searches all around him for the boat and the apprentice but they are nowhere to be seen.
The waves seem to get stronger as a bolt of lightning hits very closes to where Trevor finds himself before a rumble of thunder and a full on storm begins.
[B]The Fear sets in...Its time to panic!
