THE RETURN OF THE LEGENDS
Earlier on in the year, the XWF saw the return of the legendary James Raven. I did not know who this guy was and what made him so Legendary.
But Senior Management and Senior members of the Roster who had been here longer than my 4 years did.
They put him straight into a management role because that was how legendary he was. This guy apparently had done it all in the early years of the XWF.
He was a multi time, multi champion. Now that was how legends are made.
Management made him head of talent relations or some gobbledygook role like that.
Did that make me want to challenge him? Not really. I mean a little part of me wanted to, but the rest of me knew I was too far out of this guy's league it wasn't even funny.
But then he put the call out to past talent to come back and try their luck at the modern day style of the XWF. He even went so far as to create a PPV for returning legends. He called it. XX. The twenty year anniversary of XWF.
Only returning legends and senior members of the roster who had been around a long time could take part.
Did I want to take part? Sure after all it was an XWF show after all.
Was I miffed that I got looked over? Um maybe a little bit. But that's okay. If I'm still around in another ten years maybe Mr Raven might put on XXX. The thirty year anniversary. I'll definitely be in for that.
Anyway moving on, so strong was Raven's legendary status, and then pulling power, James brought back guys like Famine of the Vile, Fuzz, K Money, Chasm, Steve Jason, Zac Rizza, Trent Gein, Big Rigg John Gambino, and Centurion to name a few. Even the former boss of XWF, Shane
made a return.
Now I wanted to know to what extent made these guys legends, so I invested my hard earn money into coming up with much needed research, and dossiers on certain individuals and what I came back with was outstanding information.
These guys were well and truly legends in their own right. No wonder most of them made the XWF Hall of Fame.
These guys were multi time champions, with multiple championships.
These guys were World Champions, X-treme Champions, Television Champions, Hart Champion and also Tag Team Champions. Titles like those. I must say, very, very impressive.
I was told back in their day it wad hard to stay champion, as contenders had most of the so called 'luck' on their side.
Not like today where the strong champions, are able to prevail because they we have the advantage of staying one step ahead. Times are different sure.
Yes you heard right. I countered myself in being the fortunate champions of today's climate. Come on I did make it 129 straight days as Television champion, making it to outright second on the outright list. I DESERVE THAT RECOGNITION SURELY.
Granted, I may have had some 'fortunate' help go my way in the early stages but that what happens in order to stay ahead. Take advantage of being the fortunate champion.
Why am I talking about myself you must be wondering when I started talking legends? No I don't class myself as being a legend.... yet... maybe not at all with my horror overall record but it all comes down to mindset.
Mindset... and wanting to prove oneself... prove myself....
I saw one name... one name popped up on my dossier that peaked my interest. It wasn't James Raven... it wasn't Famine of the Vile, he scared me too much, it wasn't the iconic Steve Jason, it wasn't even Fuzz, even though I was put in a match against him early on in his come back.
Don't get me wrong... he was a returning legend.... he was a former multi time champion over multiple championships... he was someone to aspire to... to look up to....
That was until he enviscerated me.... and continues to do so along with his 'son' Noah Jackson, and that was after Sarah had chewed me up, spat me out, and continues to regurgitate bits of me.
Am I looking for a pity party? FUCK OFF... HELL NO...
Am I looking for a way to exonerate myself with these people? No I wouldn't even try because they will be bullies.
Do I need to follow their lead and become a bully myself? No because that's not me, I would be just fooling myself.
What about becoming a nuisance factor instead? Oh hell yeah. Push me to far, of course. The same could be said about everyone else. Everyone has buttons that can be pushed and I found my button.
Which brings me now to the subject of my promo. Thank god I hear you all say. It took you long enough. Too fucking bad I say. Kive with it. I needed to build up the back story so to speak, and I'm here now.
When the mighty legendary James Raven brought in the returning Centurion, he took him under his wing.
At that stage, Centurion reminded me of myself.
Rich, sophisticated, had a history of being family orientated, and at first glance someone who seemed timid, like myself.
This guy was a former world champion, heavyweight champion, xtreme champion, television champion, you name it he won it.
He intrigued me. I wanted to test myself against him.
So I approached him:
"Mr Centurion, you are a legend, someone I look up to, someone who I inspire to be like. Can we please have a match?"
"Sorry mate I'm too rusty.. I appreciate the kind words though. I need to partner Raven so I can get rid of the rustiness."
Oh I totally got it. I totally understood. BUT:
1ST CHALLENGE: DUCKED
A few weeks later I ask again:
"Mr Centurion, you are starting to look good, can I please have that match against you now?"
"I appreciate the kind words again, mate, but I'm still not quite ready yet for one on one!"
Again, I kinda understood but:
2ND CHALLENGE: DUCKED
Then a month later, James joins Drew Archyle and Robert The Omega Main, and so too does Centurion, so in passing, I ask again:
"You must be ready for your match by now, Mr Centurion? You are in one of the biggest stables going around the XWF!!!"
Now his reply was:
"I'm busy now Mastermind, too much going on!"
Well I never..I see now....
3RD CHALLENGE: DUCKED
Is anyone starting to see a trend?
Then the final time I was in an asking mood was when we were in a crowded room full of people discussing things.
I see Centurion and make my way over to him. I didn't have time to open my mouth, he saw me and said:
"Look mate I have a whole list of people wanting to take me on, get to the back of the line and wait your turn.
I watched him walk off. I was like a stunned mullett. Here was this go, not so long ago I looked up to him, as he was a returning legend, but after him ducking so many of my challenges, he now tells me to go to the back of the line. I was totally flabbergasted.
4TH CHALLENGE: DUCKED
I was now pissed off more than ever, and then something happened which tipped me over the top:
WEDNESDAY NIGHT WARFARE - 9/4/19 Said:Mastermind stands over the body of Peter. He looks across at Soldier and yells at him to do the right thing. He then shockingly goes for a cover.
1.......
2..........
It's over surely.....
Nothing, no final 3rd count
Mastermind looks up from his cover attempt and sees Soldier errily smiling back at him before giving Mastermind the fingers......
HEATHER: "No way he just did that,"
As Mastermind gets up to confront Soldier, all hell seems to break loose when James Raven and Robert 'The Omega' Main hit the ring. The fans go beserk.
PIP: "Oh my god Heather, look it's APEX PROPHECY, they weren't even suppose to be here tonight,"
HEATHER: "Obviously it is Payback for what happened on Saturday Night Savage. This is going to be good,"
Mastermind steps backwards to avoid the big showdown. It's his first time in the ring with APEX PROPHECY he's quite taken a back.
Unknown Soldier looks at Mastermind's reaction and of the loud cheering from the fans, that he turns around quickly, and his smile disappears when he is punched in the face by Main who quickly puts him in a headlock.
No one hears a timid "No..." coming from Mastermind
Raven steps forwards, picks up the injured Peter Gilmour and helps him to his feet. Still no one hears another timed "No..." from Mastermind.
FLIGHT OF THE RAVEN. What a move from Raven on Gilmour.
PIP: "Wow, what a move from James Raven, that's obviously Payback from Savage,"
Before Soldier can force his way out of the headlock Robert delivers......
THE DEAD MAN'S HAND
HEATHER: "Now that's obvious payback for Savage,"
Mastermind is shocked at the events he has just witnessed, which has rooted him to the spot, meanwhile on the outside of the ring, BigD spots his small window of opportunity, and scampers into the ring, and gets to Peter and rolls him over on his back, he then looks at Main and yells at him to do something., and makes the cover on Peter.
Main looks at Raven, shrugs his shoulders as if to say why not, and pulls the downed Soldier over towards Peter and the covering BIGD. He uses Soldier's hand to make the 3 count...
PIP: "Surely this isn't legal?"
HEATHER: "It has to be it's the official hand of the official referee,"
The count begins...
1.......
We hear a louder 'Noooo' from Mastermind
2.........
3........
What does this mean?
BigD gets up celebrating....
So then I figured if others were able to get away with things like that, then I should be allowed to, too. So this is what I did.
SAME WEDNESDAY NIGHT WARFARE Said:Centurion gets to his feet to start celebrating. Suddenly the lights go out.
PIP: "Now what?"
HEATHER: "I've got a bad feeling about this,"
The lights come back on to reveal Mastermind behind Centurion holding a steal chair. Sensing someone behind him he slowly turns and is his hit with the chair not once but continiously, even after collapsing to the ground.
Mastermind is really angry still. Centurion is seen with blood on his face.
Mastermind grabs a microphone, and looks up the ramp.
"Yo SBW get your fat ass out here, NOW. Or I'll continuing beating your number 1 Hart Contender up,"
Suddenly James Raven and Robert 'The Omega' Main appeared onthe ramp. They were here to help their stable mate, but just as quickly "Just the good old boys" by Waylon Jennings stops them in their tracks.
Smoking Bob Williams walks out onto the ramp and tells Raven and Main to head back to the locker room, which they have no choice but to.
SBW: "You've got my attention, Mastermind. Now tell me what you want?"
"I want justice Bobby, justice. I was screwed out of the X-treme title. With Centurion here becoming number 1 contender to go to Relentless, I've been screwed out of a match with him that I so badly wanted at Relentless. So here's what I want. I want Centurion, one on one on the first Warfare after Relentless."
SBW thought for a moment and then smiled.
SBW: "I can do you one better but you must stop all this craziness now!"
"Let me know what you have in mind, and I'll consider it,"
SBW: "You can have Centurion one on one on the first Warfare after Relentless, but here's the best part. If he somehow becomes Hart champion at Relentless, you will be his first title defense but only if you stop this crazyness, and you can't attack Centurion from here on out until you meet him next Warfare. Do we have a deal?"
Mastermind looks from SBW down at Centurion and drops the chair and smirks his infamous smirk at his bloodied face.
"Your ass belongs to me next Warfare,"
So after years of not standing up for myself when I wanted things badly enough, and just accepted things, I took it upon myself to do something about recent events, and well I enjoyed doing it.
Half the roster does this kind of thing, but yet when I do it everyone says I'm a baby and I'm just throwing my toys out of the cot. Well I say to that.... fuck off.
It's my turn to stand up for things which goes against me for a reason, and I'm tired of not doing anything about it. It's a new era for me. Like it or lump it.
Blame Centurion for the new me. He was the one who had a hand in making the old me come to a conclusion that enough is enough. He AVOIDED me one time too many.....
THE HOME OF MASTERMIND
WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND
The XWF cameras fade into the mansion of Mastermind, and in particular his thinking room. It show's his well known seat that he loves to sit in when he's home, and does promos from.
Today the back of the seat is facing the camera, but Mastermind is definitely sitting in the chair itself, facing the wall. It's one of the rare times he has started like this.
"By ducking ALL of my challenges to date when I've asked him for a match... I have proven that the new Hart Champion, Centurion is... SCARED.
"Yes you heard me right. I've proven that you Centurion, the legend that you are, the former multiple champion, is actually SCARED of little old me, Mastermind.
"But not only are you just SCARED of me, Centurion, but by ducking my challenges, not once, not twice but four times shows me, and tells me that you are also RUNNING SCARED of me like the coward that you are!"
Mastermind starts laughing and he turns the chair around to face the camera.
"And you have the audacity to think by DUCKING me FOUR times you think you could escape my pleas and leave me in the past.
"Just by turning a deaf ear and a blind eye you thought you could make me tired of asking for a match and then I would have given up and moved onto someone else?
"Your mistake was not giving in to your ego and just giving me a match the first one or two times that I asked.
"Also granted I gave you the lee way of passing that first match because of your so called 'ring rustiness' that you had by just returning. But like I said you should have taken the chance to beat me in your first few weeks because now.... I'm going to make you pay for your mistake.
"I've seen it, and others have commented about it too. You have changed since those first few weeks. Gone is the meek mild manner Centurion that drew me to you. Gone is my admiration of you. I do not see myself in you anymore because you have become way too cocky for your own good.
"Don't get me wrong. Your change in attitude didn't start when you aligned yourself with your good friend James Raven, or even when you guys joined Drew and Robert to becone a damn good stable, but it started in the last few weeks after Robert lost his title, and Drew, James and Robert lost their tag team titles.
"After you guys took on Ned, and then the stable seemed to implode from the loss of gold and what did you do, Centurion?"
Mastermind sits forward in his chair as if he wad preparing to jump at the camera.
"Just before the PPV you set up a charity event, that would help the Bahamas get through the destruction that it had received. A noble cause indeed.
"But it wasn't noble was it Centurion? But it became a smokescreen to put in place your own agenda.
"When you saw your own stablemates looked like they were done, after they lost their tag team titles before the PPV, and Robert losing his universal rematch at the ppv, they were done mentally, so you quietly prepared to move on."
Mastermind started tapping the side of his head and then made the 'I'm watching you' sign.
"But I can see right through you, and your bullshit Centurion. Your attitude changed before the PPV to a pompous pratt. If this was you at the height of your success back in your first go roundin the XWF, then by all means I applaude you. But its like a metamorphosis. A Caterpillar changing into a Butterfly.
"I thought you were always someone like me having to constantly prove themselves, but no. You took it to new heights.
"You change allegiances as soon as things start going down hill. You see the next best opportunity and align yourself with it. That's being a bastard if ever I saw one. You betray people to get ahead.
"While that might be the nature of your game, it's not mine. That's why I don't join stables, I trust no one.
"But in saying that, I do respect people. I can 'work' with certain people, and those people know who they are without having me mention their names outright.
"You had my early respect, Centurion but you don't anymore.
"Let's get back to what I said about your 'charity'event being a smokescreen to your personal ambitions. You used the charity to lure Noah and Vita to participate.
"Once they took the bait, you then put them in a match against one another, and hoped they would destroy one another or even distract themselves long enough to put your plan into action.
"The fact that they weren't taking the match seriously really pissed you off didn't it Centurion? Well then you put the plan into action more so.
"You aligned yourself with the Queen B herself. Sarah. Of all the people you could align with, it had to be her. It was like you sold yourself to the devil, but only worse.
"You distracted Noah, and Vita, she was then able to attack them fron behind with Kenzi.
"Don't get wrong, normally I would like nothing more than to see Noah get beaten to a pulp but not this time.
"This time you sold out. I hate sell outs and I will make you pay for being a sell out when we meet next week. Why are you a sell out I hear you ask?
"You aligned with Sarah to help take down her two biggest, and your two biggest compeitors. You continue to ignore my challenges. And then you go and challenge someone who hasn't had a match yet. Melanie Childs. One of the new misfits.
"Fortunately she saw right through your bullshit and put you in your place like you so needed.
"So you challenge newbies? You align yourself with Queen Bitch Sarah, and you help take out Noah and Vita, yet you duck me four times? How fucked up is that?"
Mastermind smirks his infamous smirk, and sits back a bit.
"I did what I did the Warfare before Relentless, because you left me with little choice. I have proven today that you are scared of me, and I have also proven that you have also changed personality wise, and not for the good.
"How's your head now? How's your face? Are you over it yet? You must be, because you seem to be avoiding me.
"Your short time as Hart champion is coming to an end. Go on, continue to ignore me, belittle me all you want when you eventually have to respond to me,work your so called mouth of yours, twist things your way but at the end of the day I have shown that:
A) You ducked my challenges
B) You are scared of me
C) You also are RUNNING scared of me
D) You sold out
E)You've changed.
"And I am going to be the next Hart champion, so I wouldn't MasterMIND that at all!"
Mastermind starts laughing sadistically, and as the camera starts fading out, he turns his chair around again to face the wall.
