Thomas Nixon slams his left hand on the nightstand. He’s wearing his street clothes and sitting on his hotel bed, while he holds his cell phone in his right hand. Thomas Nixon isn’t attempting to maintain his composure, the lines on his forehead are visible. He runs his left hand through his hair, holding his head in frustration.

“I could be taking a shot at Jack Cain on Saturday! I could be winning back my championship!”

“Tom, you know as well as I do that nobody was begging to see that rematch. There wasn’t controversy to the end of the scramble, Cain simply pinned the worst man in the match. You can go back up to Cain and get your rematch whenever you want, later down the road you can do that.” Richard Singer, one of the prominent lizard elders, consoles Nixon.

“That title means a weekly main event on Saturday nights! What made you feel the need to send out Brock? And I’m already questioning your judgement for revealing that technology. I tried to talk you out of it. Do you even understand the optics? We look like some mad scientist cult now! People aren’t going to see us as good guys if we’re popping out clones!”

“Thomas, Thomas, Thomas. You’ve been very successful as a wrestler in the XWF. You’ve won most your matches, you held two singles championships, and you’ve been in the headlines for Savage for quite a while. But there was no buzz. I understand your qualms, but people are talking about us! Nixon, they’re talking about us! Did you see Vice’s headline about us? ‘Did shape-shifting lizards really just clone a UFC Heavyweight Champion?’ We're in mainstream news, Nixon.”

“But you’re destroying the good, honorable image I’ve presented for the last seven god damn months. I’ve been trying to make people like us. Now they’re going to get more xenophobic! Does that get through your scaly fucking head?!”

“What is done, is done. We can’t back track now. Brock made his presence known, and you’re going to be compliant. Team up with the big man, and keep doing what you were doing. Find a way to win. With the buzz of Brock Lesnar, people will be keeping an eye on you two throughout the tag team tournament. Use this first non-tournament match to work out the kinks. You’ll be fine.”

“There’s no reasoning to you, Richard. I try to warn you that this was a bad idea ahead of time, but then you do it anyways. Now you’re shrugging off all my concerns. I’m sick of-“

Click. Nixon looks at his phone, a shocked expression sprawl over his face. He tosses his phone to the side and sighs, as the scene fades to black.

"So this is where I am. I’m heading back to Savage, but this time I’m with a partner. Brock Lesnar, a beast that is out for carnage, is standing on my side of the ring, and he’s fighting for the same cause I am. He clearly isn’t as invested in the goals of the lizard revolution, but he’s still helping us. I may not agree with Brock’s actions, but Richard Singer was right about one thing, he is good at drawing attention. He walked out there at the very end of the show, and the last things the fans saw was Brock nailing Cain with his F-5.

But his eagerness to start trouble at every corner is a weakness. He needs to settle down and focus. The XWF isn’t some sandbox that he can play around in. Sooner or later, something is going to bite him in the ass, and I don’t want to suffer the consequences of his actions. Brock needs to keep the violence limited to the in ring battles. And if he can do that, then the Motherfuckers are going to be in for one hell of a match.

Bearded War Pig and Robbie Bourbon are both impressive in ring talents. Robbie nearly won the Universal Championship a few months back and he put on one hell of a showing in the Deuces Wild Battle Royale. He isn’t old news, Robbie Bourbon can put up a fight any day of the week, and I don’t doubt his ability to get in some solid offense even against an animal like Brock on my team.

War Pig has an impressive resume. He’s been around in XWF putting the boots to his opponents, since the day he showed up here. He decisively won his High Stakes match, and his strengths are only magnified when he has Robbie on his side. He’s a threat, and he has talent.

As much as I respect their ability, I don’t have an iota of respect for the ways they act outside the ring. In the XWF, we aren’t just people, we’re role models for the rest of the world. I always present myself in an honest way, and I’m calculated and reasonable. But Bearded War Pig aired his thoughts in when he was likely intoxicated. That’s the only explanation I have for it because this grown man was belligerent. He didn’t make any sense. He was trying to put points together, but his reasoning was the kind of logic you hear after someone is eight or nine shots into the night.

I take people’s words seriously because a man is only as good as his word. And Bearded War Pig accused me of turning on my fans. Now ask him what I did that was so bad. He thinks I abandoned my fans because I’m now in a tag team tournament. He thinks I’m running away from Jack Cain, when I’ve done absolutely nothing remotely close to that. What makes you think that I won’t ask for my rematch down the road?

The fact of the matter is I’m still performing for my fans. I’m still showing up to Savage with my cause front and center. All of the fans that believe in the lizard’s fight for rights will still be able to watch me fight for their basic lizard rights. They stood with me when I battled with Michael McBride, and I wasn’t Television Champion then. They have cheered me on ever since I stepped into this company, so why would competing in a tag team bout offend them?

The only reasonable explanation is War Pig was a little under the influence. At least I hope so, or else he suffered a lot more brain damage in the war that anyone expected. How else could he ramble to such random conclusions and make this outrageous accusation?

Then War Pig made another huge mistake. He didn’t give much respect to my tag team partner. See, I’m not a fan of the decision to clone Brock Lesnar, I felt that I did a perfectly fine job as a freedom fighter on my own. But this is Brock Lesnar! He’s a monster! He’s beaten the snot of everyone he’s crossed paths with. But for some reason, War Pig is taking a laugh at him. Did you see the way that Lesnar threw Jack Cain around? I’m not sure if you’re aware, but he tossed him like a ragdoll, and Jack Cain is no small man. I don’t approve of his behavior, but nobody is buying that Brock will be ran over. Even you two won’t put him away without a fight, and it’s just the plain truth.

You’re making the same mistake that Brock is. He has no respect for his opponents. And when you do that, you give your opponents more chances to take advantage. You treat them like a joke, and you give them an opening to come back. And if you get the upperhand on myself or Brock, you better cling onto that advantage for dear life. The way you’re shit talking us makes me believe that you’ll make a crucial mistake. And that’s all it takes for me to pop you with a knee or for Brock to toss you on your head.

Robbie didn’t do himself any favor when he decided to share some choice words about the tag team match. Bourbon has so much talent and potential, but then he uses his spare time to make jokes with no substance. Come on, Robbie. You could at least show me some decency and get creative when you make fun of me and everything I believe in. But you made some standard lizard jokes, the ones that fans have to hear every week, when my opponent decides to open their mouth.

But a mad scientist? Is that what you think I really am, or is it just a convenient punch line? You and your partner know that I didn’t summon Brock Lesnar out of spite. I didn’t make him target Cain, and I didn’t even create Brock. Everybody saw me walk out to the ring and try to get Brock away from Cain because that’s not how I do business here. I tried to get Brock to leave Cain alone, and if I wasn’t there, Lesnar might not have stopped the beatdown. If anything, I came to Cain’s defense, so don’t accuse me of being a bitter loser. None of the fans buy that bullshit lie, and I’m not going to stand here and let those accusations go by unnoticed.

Not only that, but Robbie denounced my people. He thinks the act of cloning is despicable and inherently un-American. But Robbie doesn’t understand the context. There is a group of people that are completely overlooked and neglected in our world. They aren’t accepted for who they are. In order to be able to hide their identities and prosper in our cruel society, they’ve had to explore science in ways that make people uncomfortable. They played with clones and they played with other life enhancing medications. They’ve discovered things from their good intentions. It gives them intellectual capital. It gives them value. Very few powerful men know for a fact that lizard people are real, and their scientific strengths are what keep their society from being blown off the face of the Earth.

So accuse of them hubris, but I accuse you of ignorance. You don’t know a damn thing, but that doesn’t stop you from pretending that your some savior to humanity. You don’t understand that all lizards want is equality. They just want to fit in, but you declare that they’re villainous. Why? They broke a law, technically. Nobody cares when you spend every day being oppressed and being labeled as a monster by people like you. It’s men like Robbie Bourbon that demonize their enemies, but hopefully people can see through his charade this time.

I promise every one of you that this isn’t some powerplay for global control. This was an action out of necessity. You can toss around insults and act like we’re evil, but you don’t understand what my lizard friends have been through. That’s the reason I have to fight for my cause with passion. Because if I can’t put my heart into my matches, then why would anyone believe that I’m being serious in my activism?

All I want Robbie, is for you and Pig to calm down. I want you to watch your mouth before you stir up hatred towards my people. I want you to treat me and Brock like your common man, just like all the fans should open the arms to the lizard people. And I want you to bring your all on Saturday night because I want to steal the fucking show.

Kick back and have a drink, think about what I said. Because there’s no reason that The Motherfuckers need to denounce my tribe. You don’t have to be part of the problem just because you’re on the other side of the ring. It’s your choice.”
