Click. Tape recorder is on. It's April 19th, 2010.
"State your name."
"Cain Arkham."
"Birth place?"
"I was born in the Garden of Eden."
"No..." she defies his untruthful answer. Sometimes Miranda had to pull him back to reality as is the case with split personalities. "...please state the name of the place you were born, Mister Arkham. Not the original Cain."
He hesitates for a moment.
"Tombstone, Arizona. I was born on a reservation. My father was an assembly line worker named Johnathon Arkham. He was Native American. My mother, well, my mother was a hostess at the casino. She was a white lady."
"And what happened to your mother, John?"
"I...I killed her. My own father disowned me and had me sent here to Pennhurst."
"But you know it wasn't you, right? Surely it was the original Cain. The spirit who you claimed to possess you at the time? The original murderer?"
Cain sighs.
"Doctor Barnes said that he is just a figment of my imagination and an excuse for my mother's murder. He says that I created the ...what would you call it?"
"Psychic Id."
Definition Said:1id
\ˈid\
noun
psychology : a part of a person's unconscious mind that relates to basic needs and desires
"So in a way, it was you. The Id is a part of our subconscious that is created by our needs and desires. Somehow, your "condition" had caused your Id to become the most powerful part of your personality. So powerful in fact that when triggered, it takes over and fulfills your deepest and darkest desires. See, while you believe that you are the original Cain, you are actually just a man manipulated by his demons "
The plot unfurls as we listen to these exclusive tapes. So many questions raised from the session from Doctor Miranda Morgan. She was a criminal psychologist, but also an expert in the occult. We suddenly hear Cain once again.
"Yes. The demons. Judas. Alister. All of them wanting me to do his bidding. Lucifer. I have killed so many people over these millennia and all in the name of Lucifer."
The papers are heard rattling.
"Says here you're only eighteen, Cain. You've been with us for ten years now, ever since you killed your mother. You killed the orderly, but that is the only other you have ever killed."
"That was my Id, right?"
"Yes. You understand. Your mind is HEALING, Mister Arkham."
"Yes...I almost killed my little brother James though."
"Yes, but somehow you stopped yourself. Chances are, it SAS likely your "Super-Ego" taking over. The super-ego can be thought of as the part of the personality which punishes the mind for it's misbehavior with feelings of guilt. Right now, you are passive. Your ego is in control. Which is why I am not worried about any trouble."
"Yea doc. I really don't feel anything."
"You can thank the medication for that, Mister Arkham. Though it's an experimental drug, it's worked wonders. You haven't cursed or threatened anyone's life since it was prescribed and as long as you keep taking it, you are not a danger to anyone."
The medication indeed had worked wonders for young Cain. He had actually been able to suppress his murderous urges caused by his powerful Id. His Id had even named itself. It'd called itself "Abel".
"Where...where's Abel?"
"We've been through this, Cain. Abel doesn't exist outside of your mind."
"He talks to me though. I see him in the restrooms a lot. He tells me to do things, but I resist his hold. I guess it's the medicine, Doc. It's really a life saver. Hey Doc?"
"Yes Mister Arkham?"
"When I get better, can I go see wrestling?"
"As in pro wrestling?"
"Yes! I want to see Sebastian Duke wrestle, he's my favorite!"
"I'm afraid that won't be possible, Mister Arkham. I'm sorry. We have to keep you safe here at Pennhurst."
"Oh...well..."
"Besides, you know wrestling isn't a real sport. It's fake."
"It is not fake! Take that back!"
We hear a thump as if the recorder has bumped against something, such as the floor or another table. The next sound we hear is gurgling, and screaming. Then we hear a buzzing sound and a door sliding open.
"Quick! Get him off of the doctor, he's choking her!"
Indeed he is as the doctor gurgles and screams. The trigger for Cain's Id was his anger, and the man always had a huge hair trigger on his temper. We hear a struggle and more screaming, this time from security guards. Finally, the sound of electricity pulsing through a human body is heard and a large crash as if a body had crashed through furniture. The last thing heard on the tape was...
"Get this monster back to his cage! He's killed to of my best men!"
"He can't help it, stop!"
You heard Cain grunting as if his ribs and stomach were impacted by something, the Messiah of Pain letting out a huge sigh as the breath left his lungs.
*The Last Promo*
"I always find those session tapes entertaining. My doctor was always encouraging to me, but then the bitch got on my bad side. She called my livelihood fake as if the pain and suffering I have inflicted isn't real. I have suffered pain as well. Almost as much as I have inflicted. So...yeah.."
"Oh, I'm in complete control now. I was gonna kill that bitch in the shower this morning, but I stopped myself. Rather he stopped me. Was it remorse? I guess. That "Super Ego" the doc always told me about. For a long time, I was gone and so was this "Super Ego", but hell...I couldn't fail a drug screening before my big tournament match, now could I?"
"Goat Face Killa, you need to understand something before you and I step into the ring tomorrow night. I am a man with a fragile state of mind and I now understand that I never know who may be in control in the ring. Maybe it'll be me, and I will murder you. Maybe the "Super Ego" will take control and I will feel remorse for ending your career. Maybe "Ego" will show up, and I'll led you live and keep your career. See, that's the problem."
"The fear of not knowing "
"However, I stand by my convictions as an XWF Superstar. I stick by every word I've said no matter which of my personalities are in control. Mother fuckers, I told Justin Sane I would beat him and I did. I'm telling everyone from Doctor Dville to fucking Ricky Desmond that I am not coming into this match to lose. Not coming into this tournament to walk away empty handed."
"Belt or blood, something will be on my hands tomorrow night. Win or lose."
"As for a session with you Louis? Doc, I don't know if you want that. The last doctor I had didn't end up in a good position."
"Congratulations on your Universal Title win, by the way. One has to wonder though, is your involvement in the Intercontinental Title Tournament truly necessary now? I'm all for more competition but it seems redundant. I'm sorry if you took what I said as a threat, it was out of line. Once again congratulations, Doctor."
The glimpse of Super Ego was just that. A glimpse of a facet of Cain's personality. He growled at the camera.
"You were my favorite, Duke. I grew up watching you on TV. Every match, every decisive victory I saw. I find myself feeling differently about you since your harsh words. Harsh, disrespectful words toward a man whom you know can beat you. I'd love nothing more than to leave you a broken, beaten shell of a man. I'd like to end you, Duke. I've killed men before, but never a legend. It would be grand!"
Cain cackled.
"Either way...I am bringing that title home to my Attie."
"You all can just deal with it."
Cain ended the promo on that note. Honestly, he felt he'd nothing more to say concerning any of his opponents. He honestly felt a weight lifted off his chest as the tape, found by an anonymous staff member, had explained a lot. His instinct started as murder but now it seems that his instinct had changed. He'd developed a basic desire and instinct for one goal.
Winning.
