Wednesday, September 17, 2014 – 6:45 AM EST – The Compound, Old Saybrook, Connecticut

Tommy Gunn, the Heyman Alliance's resident meat head and apparently Steve Davids self appointed guardian angel has decided that today was the day he wanted to die. With Steve locked away in the dungeon of The Compound it's fairly obvious that Gunn is here to break his friend out. Unfortunately for Gunn and Davids, this is as far as he will get.

As Tommy and I continue our stare down an entire group of Acolytes as well as a security detail of a half dozen men begin to close in on our location.



ENIGMA: "Let me ask you something Gunn, did you honestly think that you and apparently just you would be able to break into The Compound, free your bff and then get out of here alive?"

TOMMY GUNN: "I'm here aren't I?"

ENIGMA: "Yes you are, and here is as far as you will get."

TOMMY GUNN: "You seem awfully sure of yourself."

"Did you happen to notice the line of bodies I've left behind me?"

ENIGMA: "I did in fact."

"But you see the problem for you is that there are a whole lot more bodies here than you could ever take out. I don't care how good you are."

TOMMY GUNN: "How about we test that theory?"



Tommy takes another puff of his cigar and then takes it out of his mouth and tosses it at me. The cigar hits me in the chest and then drops to the ground.



ENIGMA: "Nice theatrics Tommy."

"I must say, I am rather impressed by what you have done here, and to be honest, I could use someone with your unique skill set."

"However, what you have done here is tantamount to declaring war on The Brotherhood, specifically my brother Sebastian."

"Fortunately for you he is not here right now and that is the only reason you are still breathing."

TOMMY GUNN: "Is that so?"

ENIGMA: "It is."



Gunn is either extremely confident or so tunnel visioned that he doesn't notice the security that has now flanked him. As I see them all get into place I can hear a set of footsteps approaching from behind me. I don't dare turn around as doing so would result in me stupidly taking my eyes off the man pointing two guns at me.



JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "Eric who is this?"

ENIGMA: "His name is Tommy Gunn."

"Former Army Sniper, current muscle for the Paul Heyman lead Alliance."

JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "He works for the XWF?"

ENIGMA: "Nothing gets past you Jacob."

JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "How did he find this place?"

ENIGMA: "I would imagine Paul Heyman gave him the address, or directions, maybe both."

JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "How does Paul know that information?"

ENIGMA: "I would imagine that Paul was here once before and even if he wasn't he is rather resourceful, as well as rotund."

JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "Why is this man here?"

ENIGMA: "Well he hasn't actually told me that yet but I would assume he his here to get his friend Steve out."

JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "Does he not realize how foolish that idea was?"

ENIGMA: "Well Jacob, he's only a few feet away and not deaf, so I would imagine that if he had any illusion that he was going to come in here, bust Steve out and walk away he is probably now questioning himself thanks to your incredible revelation."

TOMMY GUNN: "Who is this asshole?"

ENIGMA: "His name is Jacob."

TOMMY GUNN: "Give me Steve and I won't kill anyone else."

ENIGMA: "I'll do you one better. How about I lock you in the same cell as Steve and you two can continue your homoerotic relationship behind closed doors?"

TOMMY GUNN: "How about I kill you and your friend right now?"

ENIGMA: "Well Tom, do you mind if I call you Tom? Tommy sounds so juvenile. But anyway, what you probably can't see is the little red dot on your forehead from our sniper."

"Nor did you happen to notice the team of security that is standing behind you, all of which have their guns drawn and aimed at you."

"So yeah, you could pull that trigger and probably kill us both but to what end? You will never walk out of here alive. And I think by now you know that."

TOMMY GUNN: "I'm not afraid to die."

ENIGMA: "For Steve Davids?"

"You are really ready to die, here, now, for Steve fucking Davids?"

"Seriously?"

TOMMY GUNN: "I came here to do a job."

"I haven't finished, now, get out of my way."

JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "Is this guy stupid?"



POP!!



POP!!



Gunn fires two shots a few inches from Jacob's head, clearly warning shots but also a calculated risk as the shots alone could have triggered a response from the security team as well as the sniper. I'll give him this much, what he lacks in brains he makes up for in testicular fortitude.



ENIGMA: "That was very foolish of you Mr. Gunn."

"You are extremely lucky that your body doesn't resemble swiss cheese right now."

TOMMY GUNN: "Maybe now you see just how serious I am."

ENIGMA: "I never questioned your seriousness Tom, just your chances."

"So here is what I am going to do, and understand that this is a one time offer."

"Turn around, walk away and never look back."

"Your friend Steve will get out eventually. He doesn't know that but I promise you, his story doesn't end in the basement of The Compound."

"I can't guarantee you that Sebastian won't come after you for this, in fact I would say it's a pretty safe beat that he will, so be prepared for that."

TOMMY GUNN: "I came here for a reason, and I am not leaving until I have accomplished my mission."

ENIGMA: "Mission? You may think this is a battlefield, and you may very well have started a war here but I am not in the habit of ordering security to blow away a guy simply because he wants to save his friend."

"In fact I find what you are doing rather admirable but you have to know, that you can not win here."

"And as I understand it your little nephew, I believe his name is Christian, he has a match against that piece of shit Peter Gilmour. I would hate for you to miss your chance to cheer little Christian on."

"Turn around and walk away. This is a one time offer. No one will think less of you. You came in here, killed a few guys, blew a hole through our outer wall. You've done more damage than most and lived to tell about it. Be proud of that."



I just stand there, my eyes darting between Tommy Gunn and Jacob. Tommy is silently weighing his options. My hope is that he isn't completely brain dead and realizes that no matter how good he may be he is in a no win situation and that walking out of here alive and maybe slightly ashamed is better than not walking out of here at all. As I study Tommy's movements I can almost picture the rudimentary gears turning in his head. A few moments later and Tommy holsters his two pistols and takes a step towards me.



TOMMY GUNN: "This isn't over."

"If Steve Davids is not released within one week I will be back here and I will bring some of my army buddies with me. And if you think what I did here today was bad, you have no idea what me and my friends are capable of."

ENIGMA: "Off you go. And be sure to tell Paul hello from Enigma."

"I'm sure we'll see each other again Tom. Tell your nephew I'm rooting for him."



Tommy reaches into his pocket and pulls out another cigar, he then pulls out a small silver cigar cutter and cuts off the end of the cigar. He pockets the cutter and then pulls out some matches and using one, lights the cigar. He then tosses the burnt match on the ground, turns around and begins his trek back back out of the grounds of The Compound.



JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "Why did you let him go?"

"We had him dead to rights and he knew it."

ENIGMA: "It's called loyalty Jacob."

"I know that is a completely foreign concept to you as evidence by you trying to kill Sebastian a few weeks ago, but those of us who believe in loyalty aren't so quickly to dismiss those who show it."

"Tommy Gunn, while perhaps not too bright upstairs came here to save a friend. I can respect that."

"That's why I let him walk out of here."

JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "Sebastian is not going to like that."

ENIGMA: "Well then Sebastian can go and take care of him but as far as I am concerned Tommy is no longer my problem."

JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "And what of his friend down in the dungeon?"

ENIGMA: "He'll get out when Sebastian is ready to release him."

JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "Gunn gave us a week or he said he will be back."

ENIGMA: "Yes Jacob I know, I was standing next to you when he said it."

"I'm not terribly concerned with what Tommy Gunn had to say."

"Something tells me that this won't be an issue a week from now."

JACOB, THE MESSENGER: "What makes you say that?"

ENIGMA: "Just a hunch."

"Now, if you don't mind, I need to get some rest, I have a long day of training with Cain."

"You might want to do something about all the dead bodies splayed out around the yard."

"I doubt Sebastian would want to come home and see that."

"But that's just another one of my hunches."



I gave Jacob one last look and then headed back into the home. The plan was to get some sleep but at this point I'm a little too wired to possibly go to sleep now. It was a valiant effort by Tommy Gunn. Ill advised but valiant. It is my belief that when Sebastian talks about Brotherhood that the actions of Tommy Gunn would be a prime example of what it is he would consider to be true loyalty and respect.
