Life was changing, and I'm not so sure it was for the good. At least for some people.
My fingers were cold. They were almost at the point of being numb. This was a feeling I haven't felt in decades it seems, but more realistically it's been half a year. I was fine where I was at. It didn't matter what was happening in the world. I was content and I was settled as long as no one bothered me. It's Eli's timing. Once I make some type of progress and get settled in, he makes some strange appearance. He brings in this doctor... another one... to try and cure me. Though, this time it was quite different than the past. She came back home. Lacey Rex. The girl in physical form. My daughtermother returned to me and I am at a loss of what to do.

Lacey is sitting on the couch watching some cartoon show while Eric is on the phone with his best bud and lawyer, Sal. He seems to be a bit angry the way things are going between him, Knightmask, and Wallace Witasick. Lacey keeps turning her head and watching her adopted father throw a rage fit. Eric throws the phone against the wall and ends up sitting beside Lacey trying to cool himself off.
"Eric? Are you sure Wallace Witasick is my daddy?"
"Yes, Lacey. He abandoned you. He's a terrible father. It's why we are doing what we are doing. Understand?"
"He says I'm not his daugher, and he doesn't seem like a mean man. I just..."
"Lacey! What did I tell you just now! Just... just..."
"I'm sorry. Please don't be mad at me..."
Lacey runs off in tears. Eric holds up a picture of Wallace Witasick. Eric just lays on the couch trying to calm himself down and part of him hates that he brought in this girl just so he can get his task accomplished. He tries to show everyone he doesn't care about the girl, but he can't help but feel he's apart of her life now.. even if it is just part of some type of angle. Eric yells from the couch....
""Lacey! Daddy has to go out for a few hours. I'll be back, okay? I'll bring some ice cream!
Before any response is given by Lacey, Eric jumps off the couch and leaves the house. Victor remains around so she doesn't leave and to make sure no one bothers her. He sits in his car outside watching after receiving short orders from his boss, Eric Rex. Lacey runs out back to the living room with excitement since she heard ice cream... and she planned on telling Eric bye but he'd already left. A white limo pulls up in front of the house.. a man gets out of the limo and starts walking toward the house. Victor uses his binoculars to see what he's carrying and to get a look of who he is. He doesn't recognize him, but does recognize a Bible in the man's hands. "It's just a door witness" he thinks to himself, and doesn't really interfere, though he is still keeping his eye on everything.
The doorbell rings...
Lacey answers it. The long-haired, bearded man with a gazing smile is greeted.
"Hi Mister.
"My dear Lacey. How are you doing today?
She looks puzzled. 'How does this man whom I've never met know my name' she thinks.
"H-How do you know my name?
"I know many things about a lot of people, sweety. I know the good in people and the bad. You.. you're a good one. Have you ever heard of the gospel?
"Nossir.
"Would you like to hear about it? In fact, darlin', you may end up being part of the gospel yourself.
"Aww, Mister, I never get picked for anything. I don't even get picked last. The other team would rather just have less people than to pick me. I doubt I can be part of that gospel thing.
"What if I told ya you already are apart of the gospel, and I'm here just to open your eyes?
Lacey's eyes start to water.. thinking someone actually wants to include her in something... she doesn't care what it is now.. a smile comes across the young girls face.
"I'd like that, Mister.
"Call me Eli.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
She was the one that cared for me.. and made me care back. I remember Victor telling me the story about him first seeing Eli James come to our house when I was away for a few hours.. and he'd come by every day after that when I left to talk to her about who knows what. Eli. The man with a plan even when he's not on your damn radar.
I thought I knew Sal, but he turned on me when Eli showed him the value of the money he had. I thought I knew Victor, but he also turned his back on me. It's how I knew Mystica was going to betray Eli.. I sensed it... I guess Eli helped me pick up a new sense of betrayal that may work to my advantage one day. I still struggle with my cause. Now it's even worse. Why did Eli bring Lacey back in my life?
Who Is Lacey?
She should have been Wallace's daughter. She may have not been as screwed up as she is now. I don't know what happened to Lacey, but she's not the same girl when I first brought her in my life. She is becoming something darker, possibly darker than me. She's just a young child who seems to thrive within herself. She is dealing with the weight of everything I put her through and now this is who she's become. A killer. A monster. An innocent surface with an evil root. I can't blame Eli. I won't blame anyone but myself. I brought her here and got her involved in things she should have never been involved in.
"I-I-t's your f-f-fault. N-N-Not mine.
Not this again. Why do I end up talking to myself? Why can't I just talk normal through Elisha instead of my mind. I don't even know what or who I am anymore.. so how can I find out what or who Lacey is? I know, Elisha, it is my fault. Not yours. I wonder if we work together, Elisha, then we can fix ourselves again. We can become stronger. We can become whole again.
"No! Nonononon. No. I fine. I'm f-f-fine. Don't n-n-need you.
Yes, you do. I am Eric Rex. I am who you are. You are just the part of me Eli brought out and molded as his prophet. I am the real us. Without me, there is no you. Without you, there is still me. You need me, so why aren't you willing to work together?
"No. I-I-I here. Y-Y-You are g-gone. Leavenowleavenow. Leave. Bye.
Think of your mother, Elisha. There is no Lacey without me. Yes, the way she is is my fault. The way she could become has yet to be written. Without me, there would have never been Elisha if Lacey is your mother. Lacey is my daughter and I can fix her.. fix you.. and I can get back to getting revenge on Wallace Witasick!
"No revenge o-o-on W-W-W-Wa-Wallace. La-Lacey fine. M-M-M-Momma good to us. Nochangenochange.
Lacey runs up to Elisha in the woods in the middle of his conversation with himself. She somewhat hears him talking to Eric...
"Son? Who are you talking to?
"Noone.
"Son? You can tell me. Be honest. Who... Are.. You.. Talking to?
Elisha keeps quiet and looks at the ground in shame. Lacey gets right beside Elisha and takes her hand... grabs Elisha's chin and moves his face up to look at her.
"Noone. N-No one mommy!
"So, Eric Rex still lives? So does Lacey Rex, but this is not the time for Eric and Lacey Rex. They need to die, but slowly. This is the time for Elisha and Lacey. Understand, Eric?
"NO!
"There you are, Eric. Under your own care... you didn't accomplish much did ya? You did accomplish turning Lacey Rex into what you see before you. How does that feel? Can you really live with that much guilt, knowing the sweet little girl is now just as dark as Elisha? I don't think you can. You'll die. I'll make sure of it, Eric. You killed Lacey Rex.. and I thank you for that wonderful gift. I'm gonna return the favor and kill Eric Rex. I will give Elisha new life and we can be one big happy family again.
"I'm SORRY!
But she's right. I took the innocent girl away and killed her slowly. This strange, dark little girl before me is not Lacey Rex. She's just Lacey. I made her into this and I don't know if I can live with the guilt. So, what happens if I kill Elisha and return back to myself? Lacey Rex is gone. Knightmask has vanished. I have nothing to fight for. I would be alone. On second thought.. is that such a bad thing? I've survived by myself before. I did pretty damn well. I think she's just trying to fuck with me. She just wants me to die. Honey... I'm not that easy to kill. It's time for some fun.
"Elisha? Is Eric Gone?
Elisha pulls out his Lacey doll and holds it up to Lacey.
"I'm not gone, Lacey. This doll is no longer just a doll. She is Lacey Rex. Together, we're going to fight off you and Elisha. I hope you're ready for a war.
Lacey smiles.. Elisha drops the doll and looks at his mother.
"Wh-what do I d-d-do?
"Nothing, sweetheart. Nothing. We just let them get it out of their system, they will fall over and die, then it'll just be us. Be strong, son. You can win. Eli is gonna win his war at the pay per view.. and we're gonna win the war against Eric. Now, you have a match to get ready for on Monday! We don't wanna let Eli down now, do we?
"No. Nononon. I winwinwin.
"Ya know if ya lose, he may put you back in the barn.
"I NO LOSE. I NO LOSE.. NO BARN. NO BARN.. NOBARNNOBARN.. HUNGRY. HUNGRY.
Elisha flees into the woods after spotting a deer moving swiftly... it's time to eat. Lacey sees a piece of paper fell out of Elisha's pocket. A poem is written on it in a purple crayon.
"Here lies a hero
I cannot be a hero that you seen on the big screen
I can only be the man who I was taught to be
Apologies for a life of disguise that I cannot live up to
A chest full of lies
Here lies [a hero]
Who I dreamed would always be there when I was down
Who would be the saving lifeguard when I would drown
When I lit up a signal in the sky to alert
Only to realize the hero was down in the dirt
Subdue me that would only intrigue the outcome
Of the broken glass I've stepped on
If only salvation could come a little closer
To bring out the good
To bring out the light
To show the very shrine I hid all my life
To let it boil to the surface
I won't stand by and watch
How you fall out of the sky
Not enough of time
Goodbye for now, Eric. Thank you for bringing me here.
