Part of me knew it would be a bad idea. Father only knew of me dead...not as alive. Explaining to him as to why I was full grown when I should only be seven would be interesting but Uncle had forged several documents to make sure no one questioned anything. Only he, myself and now my father knew the truth. It would be best to keep mother out of it.

My eyes snapped towards the door of the small coffee shop I had picked out. My father stood tall, though the fighting within himself and the physical fights had taken their toll on his body. I wasn't exactly planned...just one hot summer night when two barely legal adults succumbed to lust. I knew my mother would love my father until her dying day...just as Father would love her...why he couldn't swallow his pride and succumb to his instincts shocked me.

His eyes finally landed on me and he hesitated. Not that I blame him...I would be hesitant to meet my dead, now alive, supposed to be 7 and is now 27 year old son. Shits complicated in out family.

Damien made his way inside and stood next to the table, looking down at the man. There was no possible way that was him. Damien sat down across from the man and spoke.

"There is no way in the world you are Kain." Damien swallowed hard. "Kain died when he was four. How the hell did you find out what I called him?"

Damien glared at the man.

Papa...Uncle was my surgeon and I told him to watch over Mother. You called me your fallen angel because I was just that. Mother was engaged to Riley when she found out she was pregnant. She let him claim me but you and her both knew the truth. I remember you calling me that...even after Uncle failed to save me. You stood in the morgue, begging for me to come home...you said I had fallen to far this time.

My voice trailed off and I stood, pulling my shirt up to show the scar of the once fatal wound. That piece of steel from the car accident had pierced the lower part of my heart and I bled out on the table.

Uncle wasn't the same when he came back...he looked and smelled as he does now...he injected me with an almost pearl like liquid and the next thing I remembered was waking up looking like this. Uncle said he only gave me enough to heal and cure any illness...that if I had any powers, they forced my body to mature to stay alive. Please, papa...Uncle did this for you and Mother...yes, Uncle has made some mistakes but he went back to bring me back...this counts for something right?

I lowered my shirt and sat back down, my hand resting against his, the matching scars on our hands meeting perfectly. Papa tried teaching me how to cook...the knife won.

Damien looked at their matching scars.

"Kain.."

He looked lost and confused.


"A lot has happened since you've been gone. So much. Your mom has found someone new. She loves him. They had twins together. Zak, made your mom, like him. She changed, quite a bit actually."

He didn't know what else to tell him. He looked down, angry that he couldn't save him when he was four.

"Had I known, you wouldn't have perished in that wreck."

Damien shook his head.

Call it Fate, papa. She always has a way with changing the cards at the last minute. The past is the past. We can only move foward now.

Slowly, I stood and looked out the window towards the mountains.

Uncle's mind is slowly deteriorating. He loses control of his abilities and soon, there won't be much of any soul. He'll be power hungry and care for nothing but blood. It was better when he was with Nova. Do you think Auntie would be happy to see me? Perhaps you can come with so she has someone there who knows the truth?

I smiled and cocked my head, staring at my father.
