An Anderson Township man had been charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct late Friday night at a local establishment.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was called to O'Neal's Tavern on St. Rt. 125 at 1:30am. Witnesses report that Jon Thompson, 26, had been drinking and causing a commotion. 3 Guards at O'Neal's Tavern attempted to help Mr. Thompson out of the establishment, when he lashed out at them. Witnesses say that Mr. Thompson and the guards fought into the parking lot. Two of the guards were seriously injured and police were called to separate Mr. Thompson and the guard.
Upon arrival, Mr. Thompson neglected to heed the warnings of the officers. The officers, Lt. James Denton, and Sgt. Kevin Hoover, tried to detain Mr. Thompson. The officers efforts were in vain, as Mr. Thompson disarmed both patrolmen.
Back-up was called, and extra force was used. Two officers used tasers to subdue Mr. Thompson. He was apprehended and released on bail early Sunday morning.

Friends of Mr. Thompson tell the Enquirer that he is retired Marine veteran Gunnery Sergent Jon Thompson, of the Iraqi hostage incident of 2009. Details of the situation are limited, but a battalion of 25 Marines were ambushed and 15 died during the fight. Mr. Thompson, along with 9 others, were taken hostage. Again, with limited details, the Marines were tortured and some killed on camera. Three escaped, one being Mr. Thompson. Sources close to Mr. Thompson say that he suffers from chronic Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It's likely that the three guards spurred Mr. Thompson into an episode.
The two guards were taken to the local hospital with sever injuries. According to sources close to the situation, no charges will be pressed against Mr. Thompson.
