Creating Characters - Giovanni Ferrari - 11-04-2013

Hey guys just a quick word to you all about creating characters in the fed. I'm bringing this up because of a situation that just occurred with a couple of people who will remain nameless. I figured if I took care of the situation with them, I might as well address it with all of you in a fashion where you all can be informed of an important guideline you should always follow when creating a character. Now it may seem like a good idea to create a sibling, or a relative to someone's character, but always get consent first. You run a risk of making someone unhappy, or uncomfortable, if you just go ahead and do that sort of thing without permission. We all just want to have a fun environment to write in and if people feel like they're being forced into a situation, or imposed upon, then it stops being fun for them. So please in the future, try and keep that in mind. Always contact someone before you do anything with their character and if you aren't given permission, then just don't do it.

Of course that's fine. That's not what I was getting at. This post is only in regards to original XWF characters. For example, if I were to come up with the idea that I'm going to make - Frankie McBride, Michael's long lost brother, I would have to get your permission first. Just automatically making him and saying Frankie is related to Michael, kind of attaches me to your character and story, without consent. Now because of that you're put in a situation where you're stuck with this brother you never agreed upon and that might not be cool with you. I'm suggesting to avoid this, always ask for consent, before committing this type of action. Or really any type of action involving another roster member and your character as well.

Shocked anyone is doing this... surely that's just common sense? haha

Question: Say someone wanted to make a Kevin Nash character. Would they in essence have to get Christine Nash's permission, seeing as though she's his daughter or whatever? Or, since Kevin Nash is a "canon" personality in the world of professional wrestling, does that in fact circumvent this rule?

No, I don't plan on actually doing that, I just like being difficult lol.

Would I have to get permission from myself?

Yes.

Anyone that does this without prior permission, in my opinion, should be lynched and strung up from the nearest tree.

i dont think this applies to me since i just changed my character around..

but i do think we should get permission to use a new character based off someone.. *looks at PAYBACK*

I also suggest keeping GMs informed as to who your alternate characters are so that we're not booking you against yourself by mistake.

And if someone does it, not telling anyone, I'll personally hook them in the gabber m8.

Isn't that your solution for everyone?

Oh and I don't know if this bothers anyone else as much as it bothers me... but people who use the same Pic bases as other people. There's nothing more annoying... I'm looking at you LJ Havok, Sal Van Dam, CM Punk. BLEURGH
