Building a Better World (RP 4) - #MemeQueen Luca Torchwick - 07-25-2013

Act 5: A Chance is Sometimes All We Need

Still no clocks, jackass!

Same place

Still Presumably July 14th, 2013

"Yes, Jared Daniels. How fitting that you two have reacquainted so soon! I mean, in the grand scheme of things, it feels like only yesterday when you sold him out, Mister Arzegotti."

"Yeah Luca, care to bring me up to speed on that plan of yours?"

Luca opens his mouth to respond, but the answer is stuffed by Jared's forearm driving itself into the man's mouth. The restrained man turns his head away from Jared's and spits on the floor. Looking at the puddle on the floor, and back up at Luca's upper lip, one could easily spot the size of the cut that had formed on the bridge of his nose.

"Care to not punch me in the face when I try to?"

Jared turns to him, cocking his fist back for another free hit, when he begins to shake as if he was having a seizure, and falls to the floor. The rest of his body begins to mellow out, except for his fingers that drum on the floor at a breakneck pace.

"Now now, Mister Daniels, Mister Arzegotti here voluntarily joined us! If you wish to take your frustrations out on him, I would have to release him from his restraints. It's only fair, you must understand."

Slowly getting back up to his feet, Jared shakes his head to regain his bearings. From the electric chair contraption, Luca can't help but laugh at his former associate, who now wants nothing more than to beat him halfway to death.

"Yeah, you were always one to favor cheap shots, weren't you Jared?"

"Enough! Both of you! We have much more to do here today then sit around and bicker amongst ourselves! I need both of you on the same page!"

Jared's eyes widen at that suggestion. He angrily stomps closer to the chair to close the distance between the two, closer to the voice recorder that our unknown third party is listening in on the room with. Looking back at our favorite man strapped to a chair, we can't see any sign of rejection to that idea on his face.

"No, goddammit! I refuse to ever have anything to do with this lying little prick that isn't bashing his fucking skull in! Not after what he did to me and the others!"

"Of course, because this doesn't happen with everyone else I lend a hand out to! They think that because I recruited them that they're something special, and don't have to listen to my rules! So, you're so obsessed with upholding your dignity, is that right Jared?"

"You're damn right I am!"

"Your dignity means jack shit! With all that's at stake, and all that will be lost if you refuse this inevitability, let me request that you do something. Stand in the ashes of a billion dead souls, and ask the ghosts if dignity matters."

Jared stands in the place he's been in through the entirety of the man's rant. Completely still, contemplating the situation presented before him. Whether it was to side with Luca, even if temporarily and sacrifice his pride, or not to, and indirectly end the lives of a billion people, as the man had said. Was he lying, or at the very least exaggerating the numbers to fit his goal?

"Very well, you seem to finally be over your foolish matter of pride, we can finally get to business..."

The shackles that covered Luca's wrists and ankles open, allowing him to stand up. Stepping out of the electric chair contraption, he yanks the IV out of his arm, to no resistance this time. He stands inches in front of the thing that held him prisoner, cracking his knuckles and looking at the man who cheapshotted him minutes prior.

"Now, Mister Daniels, could you please exit? Mister Arzegotti and I have things to discuss."

With a sigh, Jared turns toward the suddenly opened door and walks through the open doorway. Out of the corner of his eye, Luca can see him as he disappears down the hallway and around the corner. His eye still follows the man he never did call friend until his fades from view entirely, and then it slowly returns to focusing on the room.

"Now, I must say I'm surprised, Mister Arzegotti. The way you managed to keep your composure about yourself. Not at all like Jared, who let his pride blind him..."

Luca rolls his head around his shoulders, trying to stretch out his neck.

"You can only get blinded by something you have."

"Very well. I won't lie to you, I don't think I will ever understand quite how you all work. Not at this time, at least."

"I heard the anger in your voice, you will before you know it. Just remember, understanding isn't always the best thing in the world. I'm sure you'll learn that soon enough..."
