Mystery (RP #2) - Shawn Steele - 07-20-2013 |-| Mystery. That’s what Ricky Desmond is to the X-treme Wrestling Federation. Though that word, mystery, is a bit of an understatement when it comes to Ricky Desmond. Most everyone is a mystery when they arrive on the scene. No one knows anything about the often mentioned “rookies” before their first match. But that’s where it stops for most of these rookies. They don’t make a scene. They remain, for the most part, quiet. Biding their time before they attempt to make their mark. To make an impact. To force every single person in the X-treme Wrestling Federation stand up and take notice. But Ricky Desmond took an entirely different path. The mystery man hasn’t even had a match yet, but he’s already made his impact. He’s already a well known name in both the XWF locker room and in the fans that fill those arenas every week. That’s because Ricky Desmond is a man that knows Money equals Power. And, of the few things we know about this Ricky Desmond, chief among them is the fact that the man has money. A lot of money. And it would appear as though he has used that money to make a power grab in the X-treme Wrestling Federation. An impressive power grab at that. Ricky used his money, and one would figure his admirable skills as a businessman, to convince four established XWF Superstars to join his cause. Probably even managed to convince them that it’s “their” cause, not just his own. Whatever it was, be it his money or his apparently impressive skills of persuasion, it convinced “The Tornado” Andrew Morrison, Nightmare, “The Barmy Brit” Andrew Aldway and, of course, “Mr. Wrestling” John Austin. It’s an impressive group, to be sure. No point in denying this. It’s not even a matter of a question. But what is questionable, is Ricky Desmond himself. No one has seen him in the ring. In action. In a fight. But they will this Monday night on Madness, live from the O2 World Arena in Berlin, Germany. When he steps into the ring with a man who is determined to destroy Ricky Desmond’s “Connection” before it can even truly begin it’s ascension to the top. |-| [ .. Fade up XWF logo .. ] [ .. Fade out .. ] Shawn Steele: I told you, I don’t care what it costs! GET IT DONE! The picture is still pitch black when we hear the voice of Shawn Steele, clearly agitated at whoever he’s talking to. The moments it takes for the picture to come to life, there’s silence as we finally see that Shawn, dressed in black gym shorts and white undershirt, is holding his cell phone to his ear, listening intently to the person on the other end of the call. Whatever he’s hearing is clearly frustrating as he sighs before speaking again. Shawn Steele: That doesn’t matter, Sarah. She deserves better than this. I don’t care what it takes. I want it done. And I want it done .. Pulling the phone away from his ear, he begins it down to hold in front of his mouth as he screams. Shawn Steele: NOW!!! Grunting in frustration, Shawn presses a button on the screen of his phone before tossing it aside where it lands with a thud on the table. It’s at this point that we see that we’re again inside of Shawn Steele’s condo in Portland, Oregon. This time it looks to be his bedroom, the table where his phone just landed sitting beside his bed, where he happens to be currently sitting. Also on the table is a pack of cigarettes which are quickly grasped into Shawn’s hand as he lifts them up, smacking the pack into the palm of his left hand three times before he pulls a single cigarette out before tossing the pack back on the table. Pulling the cigarette up, he places it between his lips but doesn’t light it. Shawn Steele: It’s like a fucking parallel universe. My life. What I do in the ring, and out of it, are two sides of a coin. And that’s why I’ve been watching you Ricky. You and I, we’re a lot alike. I can tell. We both live lives where money is no object. If we want something, we buy it. Even if it’s not for sale. We can still buy it. We both choose to be in this business, because we want to. Because we crave that competition. Because we enjoy hurting people. Those are some decent similarities we have, Desmond. But that’s where they end. Because unlike you, I don’t need to flaunt my excess. And unlike you, I don’t need to hire a bunch of lousy underlings to do all of my dirty work so I can work my way up that XWF ladder. I do my own dirty work, Ricky. And that dirty work includes you. Reaching over to the table again, Shawn grabs a zippo styled lighter, using it to light his cigarette before tossing it aside again. After taking a single drag, he pulls the cigarette from his mouth before standing and beginning to walk from the room and into the hallway. Shawn Steele: Like I said. It’s nothing personal. I have nothing against you. Or even the majority of your Connection. But you .. even with all of your proclaimed business savvy .. you made a grave error when you invited John Austin into the fold. Because Austin and I, we have a history. A history of luck. I’m not going to insult the people and call Austin’s victory over me one of luck, but John Austin got lucky that he caught me on an off night. And me .. I got lucky that I had an off night. That night in London, when John Austin slammed my head into the canvas and picked up that victory, that was my lucky night. That .. that was the night that will go down in history as the luckiest night of my career. Turning the hallway corner, Shawn enters his kitchen as he takes another drag before opening the refrigerator to grab a bottle of water, taking a quick drink before continuing. Shawn Steele: I’ve made no secret of the fact that it’s been a lot of years since I last stepped into that ring. And after the Battle Royal, I was arrogant. I made that mistake. I made that mistake of thinking I was back. I wasn’t. Not yet. And that loss to John Austin showed me. So for that, I’ve got to thank you John. And for that same reason, Ricky, you’re going to grow to despise John Austin. Because what happens this Monday night in Berlin, that’s his fault. What is about to happen to you is all because of John Austin. Because I got lucky and my arrogance was shoved back into my face, just as my face was shoved into the mat. But that’s all done now. I’m back, Ricky. And I’m back to hurt people. Starting with you. And your Connection. You made your statement, and now it’s time for me to make mine. And my statement .. my impact, Ricky, is going to reverberate throughout the X-treme Wrestling Federation. I’d tell you to enjoy it, but you won’t. I’ll see you soon. Shawn turns and heads back around the corner as the scene fades away. [ .. Fade up XWF logo .. ] [ .. Static .. ] |
