Guilty Pleasure: Movies - Prof. Bobby Bourbon - 04-03-2024

I was shooting the shit with a few of our colleagues, and came to the realization that Robocop 2 is my movie guilty pleasure. I remember being a kid and watching it a million times because every time I went to the video store and was asked what I wanted to watch (they ran a rent 2 get 1 deal) I would always pick Robocop 2 (IRL named Robert, look at the first three letters of the title, there's a cool cyborg with a big gun going after bad guys).

That brings me to the real question:

What is your movie guilty pleasure, something you know is not a wildly acclaimed film, maybe even a horrible movie by most standards that you could watch over and over?

Four Rooms and Reservoir Dogs

I love Tim Roth's acting, and you just know anything Quentin is involved in is going to be messed up, but in a good way.

But my favorite movie that a lot of people might not have seen is Tucker & Dale VS. Evil -- I especially loved the bonus content where you could watch the whole movie through the eyes of the college students, so you get to see what they saw.  Epic movie with some hot girls and a pretty awesome soundtrack.  If you haven't seen it yet, you can watch for free on Tubi and Pluto and a couple other streaming services.  I highly recommend.

RE: Guilty Pleasure: Movies - LYNN - 04-04-2024

Mortal Kombat
Street Fighter
Beverly Hills Cop 2

Reservoir Dogs is an all time favorite, and I’m not in the least bit guilty to admit that. Maybe I’ve missed something, but I think it’s one of the greatest films ever made… maybe I need to revisit my guilty pleasures.

I have to agree, unless you're ONLY watching the scene with Mr. Blonde and the hostage with your pants off.

Since everybody is posting multiples, I gotta add.

The Greasy Strangler (IYKYK)
Troll 2

The real reason message boards have bold tags, ladies and gents.

Wow, haven't heard of King of the Jungle in forever, it's so sad though, is calling it a pleasure the guilt?

As for the other claim, I love the notion and will take that deep dive. I love expressing how The Rock with Nic Cage is actually the last Sean Connery James Bond movie (search YouTube for that) and how in video games Link from the Legend of Zelda is actually a Jedi (my own malarkey after reading The Jedi Path, which is no longer canon).

I got into movie theories because of Disney and Pixar having so many of them. Frozen Princesses being Tarzan's Sisters which is kind of confirmed. Boo from Monsters Inc being the old Hag from the movie Brave (she carves bears out of wood and is 'lost' but also has a Sully carving hidden in one of the scenes. Just the batteries used in Buzz Lightyear being the same company in Wall E that became the world Super Power.

Then it got into non cartoons more. Michael Myers being connected to the Us movie concept. Titanic being Terminator Prequel. I like that shit..
