PPV Update - Paul Heyman - 07-13-2013

Anyone that knows how I run Madness, knows I like to get things done as quick, and as complete as possible. There's still lots of work to be done yet, but you can expect some results tonight.

It's currently 4:24 AM where I live and I work from 7a to 7p. You can definitely expect something tonight.

I have options for you. I could post them match by match as I get them done... I'd brought this up to some other GMs that this would be something different. As if you were checking on ppv results on Wrestlezone or something.

OR

I could post it in 3, 4 or 5 parts like other do when they post pay per views.

Tonight, after I get home from work I'll check on this thread and see what the majority of you think.

PPV Update - Alex Shawn - 07-13-2013

I like the posting of a match at a time because it makes it more like a match just finished and Now we have to wait a little while for the next one to happen. That's just me though.

PPV Update - Ricky Desmond - 07-13-2013

Definitely a match at a time. It will encourage people to read all of the results rather than just their match.

PPV Update - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson - 07-13-2013

Match at a time. But any matches involving Rocky should be written in giant big pink letters :-)

PPV Update - John Msdison 2.Faggot - 07-13-2013

id do 3 parts since ppvs are usually 3 hours

hour 1, hour 2, hour 3

PPV Update - "Loverboy" Vinnie Lane - 07-13-2013

You could always do the "live results" style that them boys used to do back on the old XWF site where you just post it as you write it. Pretty much a match at a time like you said. Like reading the results of a live ppv as it happens and updates get posted online...

It's fun too because then people can comment in character after each match/segment and it's a really fun way to kill time and talk some IC trash as the stuff goes up.

What do I know though? I'm just a stupid dong. Tongue

PPV Update - Paul Heyman - 07-13-2013

Ok, I'm home now and I have some guest judgments in and waiting on some others.

All updates will be contained IN THIS thread.

As much as I respect Maddys opinion, I'm going to try the match by match thing.

Expect the first of the results to be coming shortly.

PPV Update - Peter Fn Gilmour - 07-13-2013

Match by match is fine

PPV Update - Lightning - 07-13-2013

GO TEAM!!

PPV Update - Paul Heyman - 07-13-2013

That's all for tonight folks. Expect more coming between 7 and 8 tomorrow evening. Eastern US time, of course.

PPV Update - Shawn Steele - 07-13-2013

I loved this style of results. The constant interaction of everyone was a great added bonus. Well done.

PPV Update - John Msdison 2.Faggot - 07-13-2013

Wouldn't it be cool if we ran our angles in between matches, as the show is running?

Like say you attacked the X-Treme champion after his match and pinned him, he'd have twelve hours to kick out!

Or you just attack someone backstage. Give the victim a couple hours and they can respond to the attack somehow.

I donno, just off the top of my head here.

I second that. Gives the ppv a unique feel and much less intimidating to read. Props!

I like this idea too, I'm just not sure how well it would work. It could be done with a PPV or a special show, where the majority of the matches and such were written beforehand as opposed to as the show is going on. Post a match, give a couple hours of interaction, post the next match, etc. It might be difficult to pull off, but it's an intriguing idea.

PPV Update - Neonero - 07-14-2013

I love this style of results, but theres a tiny problem. As i went to bed last night there were two matches up. This morning there are several more up, but because people comment on th parts, they arent in order (kid ant vs table i mid way up the list for example). if you numbered the parts or stickied as you go this wouldn't be a problem.

PPV Update - Paul Heyman - 07-14-2013

Good idea, Nero. I will do that moving forward.

PPV Update - Peter Fn Gilmour - 07-14-2013

I gotta wait to see my team retain the trios titles? FAAAACK!

I have wanted to do something like that for a long time. The closest I've come to a way to realize this dream would be to have an event that we bill well in advance as a whole "weekend event" both IN character and OOC.

That's basically how we'd have to do it but we'd have to span it over a weekend. The show would HAVE to begin on Friday night at the VERY latest and then we'd space out each match that we post by anywhere from 1 to a few hours, depending on how many people are actively trying to get involved and all that.

It CAN be done with more thought and more tweaking. Occasional WEEKEND shows that span Fri, Sat and Sun... giving all of us time to actually interact and mess with each other between matches and backstage segments. I want to have this be a reality before the end of the year!

Numbering is a great idea. Stickying wouldn't fix it though... It would just mean the stickied threads all jump around at the top in their own little group, still in the order of most recent reply.

Just wanna expand on this...

In order to keep things orderly, we could say that you can only initiate one attack per event unless your attack goes unanswered. And that once you've been attacked, you're pretty much blocked from attacking anyone during the rest of the show.

So if you beat someone up and they don't respond or no one comes out to help them, then you're free to keep on attacking. It's not until you've been attacked or counter attacked that you're unable to keep attacking people.

And then I'd say just have a new thread included with the results which is titled "backstage happenings" where people can cut promos, run stories, attack people, or whatever.

I don't really think it would take an entire three days. But I can see a Saturday and Sunday event being fantastic. When I was running feds(admittedly ten years ago), I would have the entire show written out, in detail, at least one day before the RP deadline. Just write out the matches how you think they'll go, and if you're wrong, you just add in another few lines at the end of the match. If we put together a writing team to get the matches done and sent in on say, Friday night, then we can start the PPV early Saturday morning.

We'd need a set time for each match to be posted, and stick to it. Two or three hours between segments should be plenty of time to allow for us to interact. Then, after those two or three hours, that thread would be closed and we move onto the next one.

The problem with this would be keeping the timing straight. We could be onto the third match, then someone posts something in that thread that would be happening after the second match. I think we should keep ALL happenings in the same match (segment) thread.

PPV Update - "Loverboy" Vinnie Lane - 07-14-2013

The reason I'd want to span it over 3 days, starting on a Friday night with the beginner/early card matches, is because we'd plan on certain hours being "peak hours" where there's a faster pace. I don't know, maybe off the top of my head we'll say Friday night at 6pm PST will begin the PPV and it will be considered peak hours until maybe midnight or maybe even 2am. During peak hours, matches go up at a quicker pace and a lot of people would be online to interact because they would have known well in advance what the peak hours for Friday are.

Saturday, same idea... people can reply to match threads with comments and threats in character but actual interacting isn't going on so much during the day. Maybe one match would be posted during the off hours. Then Saturday night when peak hours hit, we go back to the faster pace of matches every X amount of hours. We'd probably get 3 to 5 matches covered during peak hours on each of the 3 nights.

Today for example I'm looking forward to the next part of the PPV. I know tonight will be fun because a lot of others are waiting too. We've pretty much got our peak hours for day 2 of a weekend PPV starting right here in a few hours.

PPV Update - Ricky Desmond - 07-14-2013

Everyone needs to get on Skype for when results are live and money in the bank!!!!!

PPV Update - Peter Fn Gilmour - 07-14-2013

Won't make it

PPV Update - Paul Heyman - 07-14-2013

Results pages are now numbered for easier navigation...

I really am happy most everyone seems to enjoy the match by match thing. I've wanted to try it and thought this event would be the right time to do so.

Day two of Leap of Faith will begin shortly.

PPV Update - Paul Heyman - 07-15-2013

I'm home and beginning to get my final judgments in for the US title and King match. As soon as I get those in, I can get the US match up. After that, I'll be writing the main event. There will be a bit of a delay between the two as I have the King match started, but not even close to completion.

However, come hell or high water, they will both be posted sometime tonight.
