It's been several months since Father Franklin learned the truth. When my secrets were uncovered and I was asked to leave. A polite but firm request, I respected Father Franklin's wishes, gathered my belongings and left. My secret life outside of the church, might have kept others safe but it was still a betrayal. I know and understand this, I do not deny it and I pray one day, Father Franklin will forgive me for doing what I felt that I had to do. He brought me in, took care of my spiritual education and gave me a home and how did I repay him, with lies and deceit. All in the name of doing the lord's work.
At least, that's what I told myself. How I justified my actions. Because I knew that the lengths that I went to wouldn't be accepted in the eyes of the church. They would be considered crossing a line that a man of absolute faith wouldn't step over. For a servant of Christ would never take the extreme measures that I did. Committing acts of violence, harming others, even if it was done in the name of defending those that couldn't protect themselves, there was no denying the fact that I ventured forth into the night, with purposeful intentions of seeking out and finding trouble. Equipped with weapons, the proficiency to use them and the knowledge of several styles of combat. Studying the light and dark arts, teaching myself incantations and the conjuration of spirits, using my skills to level the playing field in the fight against evil. I took matters into my own hands, time and time again because merely sitting back and praying wasn't enough. I had to do more.
In that understanding, I became a vigilante and so much more. With that self transformation, I learned duality and compartmentalization. There was the mild mannered, priest in training by day and the masked warrior, watching over the city by night. It was very much like I was two separate individuals dwelling within one body but it was a way of life that I adapted to out of necessity. How else could I possibly exist when living in two very different worlds? Especially if I wanted to keep living in both of them. A messenger of divine light, wielder of the word, doing the lord's work in two very contrasting methods.
This was not meant to last.
To this day, I do not know what inspired Father Franklin to search my room, what I do know is that he discovered everything and my plans for the future were altered. Humbled and homeless, I had to find a new place of residence. The requirement, would see me moving in with Axle King and Wylie Sinclair. An adjustment at first, our living situation has produced a rather strong friendship. In spite of our differences. Still fueled by faith, I am no longer studying to become a priest, yet I remain an enlightened man. Bringing illumination to the darkness. It shall always be my solemn vow to be the savior of the innocent. I simply must carry out the lord's will in my own way now. Perhaps this was always meant to be my one true path.
