ETAP HOTEL BELFAST
NORTHERN ISLAND
The camera fades in to a hotel room if the ETAP Hotel, in Belfast, Northern Island. It shows Mastermind sitting on a chair in front of what looks to be a whiteboard. But its covered by a sheet.
Mastermind gets given the signal that he is now live to the XWF Universe. Firstly, he sighs, then he starts shaking his head.
"I'm sorry that I have to do this, become the school teacher so to speak, but at least my fans know exactly everything about me, so I don't need to school them. So I apologize for having them sit through this. The question therefore is, who does need to be schooled?"
Mastermind puts his face in his hands, and looks like he is struggling to stay calm. He once again looks at the camera.
"BigD, BigD, BigD, how times in passing do I tell you where I am actually from, and how many times do you even take notice of my promos or other opponents promos on what I call myself or they call me?
"It clearly tells me that you have such a bad memory or a very short attention span. No wonder you breeze in and out like gale force winds because you don't retain the relevant information needed to be a major player. That is why you will struggle to become Universal Champion like I know you so desperately want.
"Those who do become Uni champs don't do it with poor memory, they couldn't last if they did. But the strong ones like Robert Main stay champion through not hard work, not only wrestling abilityz but also focus to detail on how they should destroy their opponents in promos leading up to their matches.
"I'm going to Relentless to take on Soldier because I retain enough memory to be able to take you and Peter down before actually proving it in the ring.
"I honestly thought it was going to be tough coming up with information about you in promos but you, yourself BigD have constantly kept yourself open to attacks, and your latest just gave it to me like a silver platter,"
Mastermind smirks and gets up to stand in front of the covered whiteboard.
"I'll say this slowly BigD so that it can register in your idiotic mind, but maybe it won't it's just clear that you don't give a flying fuck. But I'm going to school you all the same, because, well, if I don't then it'll be more fool me wouldn't it?
"So everyone in the XWF who knows me, who has come up against me, knows that I am from New Zealand. Not Australia. New Zealand.
"Yes I know we are basically in the same area. Australasia, some might even say Oceania, but that's it. That's the only similarity between the two countries,"
Mastermind removes the sheet from the whiteboard and it reveals a map. Of Australia, and New Zealand.

Mastermind grabs a pointer and points to both countries.
"As you can see BigD, New Zealand is the smallest and Australia is the largest. What you said in your latest promo is partially true. Australia do have kangaroos and boomerangs that come back but you wasted a whole game on me being an Aussie, as us Kiwis like to call them.
"Noah fucking Jackson is an aussie, and I've just found out that I'll be facing him on the next Savage. What a fucking joke.
"But that's beside's the point. If you had researched like you said you did also in your latest promo, then you would have found out that New Zealanders are called Kiwis, we are nicknamed Kiwis after our national bird. They can't fly. But us Kiwis tend to punch above our weight internationally.
"We are well known for our kiwi fruit, the All Black rugby test team which has the best win loss ratio out of all sporting teams in any code in the world.
"Do I need to go on? Have I made my point? I know I have. BigD you made that referee, and Steve Sayers waste a whole promo about a game or games about Australia. You really should have gotten your facts straight.
"There is a big difference between Kiwis and Aussies, which I'm sure everyone will learn about over the next two weeks. For instance, Aussies are notoriously cockie," cough cough "Noah Jackson, while Kiwis are notoriously supportive and caring," cough cough, "sometimes me,"
Mastermind smiles.
"Before I go, congratulations BigD, I see you have a a match lined up on the next Savage for the Television Title. Good luck for that.
"Maybe the powers that be, KNOWS, that you aren't going to win this match, and have taken pity on you and given you another title opportunity that they know you can win.
"And after the shocker of Savage just gone, with Unknown Soldier, winning the Universal Title off of Robert Main, it seems we have a new x-treme champion at Relentless. Regardless of who it is, I'm heading to Relentless to claim my 4th title. That's a fact! But before that, we'll be back shortly where I'll speak to Peter Gilmour who seems to have lucked into a partnership with the new Uni champ, back soon,"
Previously
After initially thinking that his career might be over because of a bad knee that had got worse, Mastermind thought he better prepare for the future.
We learned that he gave an actual retirement date of 2022, and we also learned that even though he couldn't stay away, his next step was management material.
So he needed a protege.
We don't know the back story yet for this protege, but that's coming.
And now the continuation:
TUESDAY 30TH JULY 2019
ENROUTE TO WELLINGTON HOSPITAL
WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND
I was still nursing my sore knee. Outback Jack, and I had been sitting in silence for the last 5 minutes. Finally it was Outback Jack who broke the silence.
"So it's been years since we last spoke about certain scenarios, but I think I know what you would be good at doing if you had to prematurely retire? I'm not saying you will, you still have some good years left in you. You'll get over this injury,"
I looked out of the window as Wellington city sped by on our way to the hospital.
"I don't think I'd be any good as a trainer at your Training Base. For one, Sydney's too hot to live all year round,"
"I wasn't going to ask you to take over, as Zana will be once I fully retire,"
Zana was Outback Jack's eldest daughter.
"What else did you have in mind then?"
From his pocket, Outback Jack took out his phone.
"I think you would very good at mentoring, managing your protege,"
I suddenly felt I liked the sound of that.
"Go on,"
"Well after your wife rang, I called some of my connections that I still have here in NZ, and was given the names of 3 youngsters who could do well with you as their manager!"
I shot a look across to Outback Jack. He put up his hand to stop me from saying anything.
"Here's the best part. We both know that you have at least 2 to 3 good years left in you maybe 5 at the most. What I'm going to offer you, is while you are in your last few years before retirement, is I train your protege over in Australia like you did when you had injuries setback early in your career, and once I feel he is ready, I'll let you know. How does that sound?"
A smile for the first time since getting in the car, formed on my face.
"That could work, that way I could stay in the XWF longer,"
"Yes,"
"So who are the three that you have chosen?"
"So the first one is from Christchurch. His name is Gary Jaxs. He goes to Christchurch Boys High, and he is the current South Island Secondary School Amateur wrestling champion,"
Outback Jack gave me his phone, and I took and looked at the photo. The kid I saw had potential, but that's all. I didn't feel he was the right fit for me.
I shook my head "He looks like he has potential, but not for me,"
I handed the phone back. I looked out the window. We were nearing the hospital.
"Potential protege number 2, this boy is from right here in Wellington, actually have the NZWC scouts looking at him. His name Stevie McGruff, he is the Lower North Island Secondary School Amateur Champion plus a former Under 14 North Island Secondary School Champion,"
I took the phone again and looked at the new photo. Although he had good credentials and had future champion written all over him, but again, I didn't feel he was right for me.
I shook my head "No, not feeling it,"
I gave the phone back as the car drove onto the hospital grounds.
"This last one he's from the top of the North Island fron what my contact said Na Puhe land?"
"Nga Puhi," I corrected
"Yeah those words. He's very special to them. He's the cureent three time upper North Island Secondary School Amateur Wrestling champion and the defending North Island Amateur Wrestling Champion. His name is Manu Jackson,"
As the car came to a full halt, I took the phone and studied the photo. There was something about that screamed "pick me".
"He looks likely. Why does he look so different to the other two? Apart from the fact he is Maori of course!"
"This is the best bit," said Outback Jack, as we both heard the front car doors open "Well maybe those are the wrong words, but his uniqueness is... he had tongue cancer when he was 10 years old, and well he has lost the use of his tongue. He can't talk. He can communicate though by writing on a piece of paper,"
I looked across at Outback Jack as though I misheard him....

OUTSIDE THE TITANIC MUSEUM
BELFAST SHIP YARD
BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND
The XWF camera fades in to find Mastermind standing outside the Titanic Museum at the Belfast Shipyards. The Museum was in the shape of the infamous Titanic that sank in 1912 due to being hit an iceberg.
"This is a great place to start my attack on Peter Gilmour. See Peter you've proven my exact point that I have been making this entire time. You can't win a match between, you, me and BigD by yourself. Especially against me, because, you never will.
"In fact like I have also said you need to team up with other people, to use them to be able to beat us.
"You joined forces with Unknown Soldier to spectacularly take down Robert Main on Savage, by riding in on a bloody Pirate Ship of all things. You won't admit it Peter but we all know Soldier could have easily taken Main down all by himself. He really didn't need your help, I'm sure he will admit to that, yet you won't.
"You need Soldier very badly to somehow think you have a realistic shot of winning our fatal 3 way elimination match. You don't have a fat chance in hell. I know that, BigD knows that, and I'm sure Unknown Soldier knows that too. He's just placating you. And Peter if you don't know placating means then look it up,"
Mastermind clicks his fingers and the camera fades out..
OUTSIDE THE EUROPA HOTEL
BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND
The clicking of fingers again has the camera fading back in, and this time shows Mastermind standing outside the Europa Hotel which has been recognized by being the most bombed hotel in Europe during the time of the I.R.A.

"During the time that the Irish Republican Army was in full swing, they use to bomb this hotel alot. It became known as the most bombed hotel in all of Europe. And it still stands all these years later.
"But I'll tell you who wont be standing come the end of our match on Warfare, and that will be you Peter. I'm going to make absolute sure you get damn well eliminated first, because I'll give you fair warning right now Peter. If you use Soldier to interfere in our match then I'm sure BigD won't have hesitations teaming together
to get rid of you, and then things can get back to normal. And then it'll everyone for themselves.
"You started this Peter, the moment you thought you couldn't win and sold up by teaming with Soldier. It just goes to show how cheating can continue to be in your d.n.a. Soldier will only take you so far before he's had of you. I can certainly see that. You are a fucking fool if you don't,"
Mastermind clicks his fingers and the camera fades out.
THE PEACE WALLS
THE GREAT WALLS OF BELFAST
Another set of the clicking of fingers has the camera fading back in to show Mastermind standing in front of the Peace Walls known as The Great Walls of Belfast.
"After all that violence these walls have all the names of the victims killed by the violence. I'm sending this peaceful message to Unknown Soldier personally.
"You had your fun on Savage at the expense of Robert Main, you are now Universal Champion, and for some unknown reason you are still X-treme champion. All I want from you is to referee our match fairly. Because the moment you start to team with Gilmour, and thats very unwise and I'm sure you even know that.
"I wouldn't moan if you refereed and Peter even one but him doing that is not realistic. Just do what's right I implore you.
"Last message to both BigD and Peter. I'm winning this match because I'm the strongest. I don't need to copycat anyone BigD but you seem to want to, and Peter, joining forces with a double champion is only going to come back and bite you in the butt.
"BigD and Peter. I AM WINNING THIS MATCH and I am then going to go to Relentless to become the 4 time x-treme champion, and I won't MasterMIND that at all,"
Mastermind walks away and the camera fades out.
