The Rough - Ned Kaye - 06-25-2019 In his now cramped looking office, Ned Kaye sits, a lot of papers neatly stacked next to him. Many cardboard boxes are seen piled upon each other behind him, barely visible in the darkness. He looks down, a complex expression, somewhat vacant, covering his face. The light is dim, illuminated only by a weak desk lamp. His voice is soft, appearing to be as encompassed by the surrounding night as the rest of his office is. "You know, people are waiting for the day I crack... I think it comes with any form of celebrity status, unfortunately. That you meticulously put yourself on the line, week after week, but it's deemed unimportant next to the very concept of witnessing someone's collapse. And after my defeat at the hands of Chris Page, after my incredibly apparent inner problems, there are quite a few out there who view that as my next logical step. Well, I have a message to all of you anticipating my fall:" The lights flash on, showing Ned smiling humbly, his voice becoming more powerful in the light. "I'm not going to crack. Yes, it's true that my life has been a living hell in some regards, but I didn't gain support from thousands of you out there because I'm ready to call it quits when the going gets tough. And I sure as hell didn't get approached by the XWF because I'm willing to quit when fortune doesn't favor me. When I said that I embody the climb of this business, I meant it. Certainly, it's been difficult, but to back down now after years of my blood and sweat have brought me here would be against everything I stand for. Whether my problems wear me down or not, I know who I am at the end of the day. I know why people dismiss me and I know that those dismissals build the flame essential to powering me. So, please, those who doubt me, continue your assessments because you are fueling a flame that can engulf you entirely." The Notorious One stands, sighing as he rests his hands the table. "However, the expectations of my most skeptical critics are not the only challenge I face going into this next edition of Warfare. If anything, they'll be a cakewalk compared to the man I'm facing in that ring: Mastermind. Someone I hold intense respect for to the point that he was my first choice for a teammate at War Games. Because I know what Mastermind is capable of. I understand the danger he poses to an opponent who underestimates his innate skill." Ned pulls out a folder from his desk, the labeling concealed by the camera angle. "Now, Mastermind, I hold a file on every competitor I've worked alongside or against in that ring and in my hands I had the file of my greatest opponent: The one I must overcome at all costs at Warfare if I'm to remind the XWF Galaxy why I am Notorious." He lifts the folder up, showing the label clearly. Quote:Notorious Ned Kaye "You see, MM, I know how you operate because we're very similar in a few of our approaches, but I want to prove a point. I want to show these people that this isn't an upcoming battle between a weak will and a contender for the Television Championship Title. This "I Quit" match is an unstoppable force meeting an unmovable object and I don't have any plans on budging. So much so that I want to send you this file Mastermind. I want you to read my every weakness and strength as I know it and memorize every last detail. And then..." Kaye smirks lightly. "I want to see your face when you realize it doesn't matter that you know me like the back of your hand. See, Mastermind, I know you're preparing to get in there and finish me as quickly as possible. I'm looking to fight you until the end of time if that's how long it takes you to quit. And I know you might very well be capable of lasting that long. The fact is that you're facing me at a very disastrous state of being. At one of the worst times of my life. And I almost feel like a dog being backed into a corner, with only two goals set on my mind: Facing Sarah Lacklan at Leap of Faith and proving to myself that I'm not what some people presume of me." Ned stares deeply into the camera, pushing the folder to the opposite end of his desk. "And so, here I am. Dog backed into a corner by circumstance. And you're on the unfortunate recieving end of my fangs, Mastermind. Be careful, for your sake." The scene cuts. |
