Anybody? lol - "Loverboy" Vinnie Lane - 03-11-2018

Ok so after some talks and hearing some feedback, I just have to reach out and see who here is actually a current wrestling fan AND is able to wrap their mind around the prospect of real wrestlers being used in an e-fed and being able to interact with the vast majority of created characters?

For those of you who are opposed to such ideas, are you willing to share explanations as to why? And are you open minded enough to hear the responses that address those concerns and put them to rest, or are you dead set in your ways?

All comments and feedback welcome in either direction!

We don't stifle creativity.

Imo that includes real / dead wrestlers being allowed.

Anybody? lol - Peter Fn Gilmour - 03-12-2018

get adam cole and kevin steen here NOW!

Anybody? lol - "Loverboy" Vinnie Lane - 03-12-2018

I'd mark out if they showed up on warfare and attacked you

Anybody? lol - Cadryn Tiberius - 03-12-2018

I'm with Graves.

We pride ourselves on being the most open minded fed out there.

Plus I think it would add a whole new element to our shows to see something like

"Engy and The Rock vs Apex"

It would be fun to see how some of these guys are able to portray big names like that, etc.

Anybody? lol - Mad Dog Valley - 03-12-2018

I'm use too playing real wrestlers. Truth be told this is my first fed experience with a CAW. I think it'd be neat, but I feel newbies would come in and start breaking the fourth wall and making up their own lore and giving themselves all these achivements rather than start fresh.

Anybody? lol - The Engineer - 03-12-2018

I'm not a huge fan of it, but I won't stand in the way of it either. My biggest question though is will that character's past history be intact then? For example if Austin gets booked is everything he's done throughout his career considered to have happened? How does that work for people who are actually dead then?

Anybody? lol - Hollywood Hulk Hogan - 03-12-2018

Well let me tell you something brother!!!

What was I saying?

Anybody? lol - Sting - 03-12-2018

Hogan! You’re a coward!

re:Anybody? lol - Vincent Lane - 03-12-2018

I'm not against allowing it, but I'm not a huge fan of it personally. I think some people can really nail the characters and it's fun and amusing, but there's not a lot creatively there. To me, if you're going to write original stories with existing characters, why not just make up the character too?

Then again, I'm not really into fan fiction or extended universe novels either, so it may just be me.

re:Anybody? lol - Prof. Bobby Bourbon - 03-12-2018

I think it's fine so long as the player understands they are incorporating their favorite wrestler/persona into the XWF, and that strange things can happen to them, and that the XWF isn't designed to change automatically because someone decided to play Vince McMahon and that IRL such-and-such would actually happen. If the player gets upset that 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin gets put through a table because IRL Stone Cold just shows up and gives people stunners, or unhappy that John Cena loses match after match even though IRL he doesn't necessarily, there could be a problem.

Anybody? lol - "Dark Warrior" Micheal Graves - 03-12-2018

It's not just you. I shudder everytime I see a Steve Austin and a Macho Man, but I'm all for letting people do what they want.

So to expand on what I said earlier, I don't like it personally, but I'm not against it.

I'll probably regret that statement if we end up with a WWE lite roster though lol

re:Anybody? lol - John Cena 2099 - 03-12-2018

Just then...

JOHN CENA 2099 ARRIVES FROM THE FUTURE!!!! OH MY GOD HE'S AA-ING EVERYONE!!!!

"YO DAWG I heard you said my name! But if you ain't got the BALLS to man up and prove you got what it takes to beat the Face that Runs the Place and also Lives in Outer Space, then I guess you just a BITCH!"

Half the crowd boos while half cheers. Some people starting singing John Cena Suuuuuucks" to the tune of his theme music, which was number one on the Billboard charts for an unprecedented span running from 2035-2080.

"Hey, some of y'all love me, and some of y'all hate me... and that's okay! Y'all paid your tickets. As long as I get my road to Wrestlemania!"

Cena 2099 points to the Wrestlemania sign that you didn't know was here until just now because it actually follows him wherever he goes.

I think it's a fantastic idea and would be ready and willing to participate.

This is a really salient point too. I've always found incorporating real life characters in to be tough on a number of levels. I mean, we're talking real life bankable stars who may end up jobbing to people's CAW's and that could be hard to swallow.

If you're willing to think outside the box enough though there could be workarounds. I once played a character in another fed who was a crazy person but was convinced he was Blackjack Mulligan right down to his music, promos, thinking he was still wrestling in the Deep South Territories in the 70's, not understanding modern technology, and thought his psychiatrist was Bobby Heenan. He was, for all intents and purposes, Blackjack...but not.

re:Anybody? lol - The Engineer - 03-12-2018

Goddammit if I didn't just laugh at that Stone Cold promo though....

re:Anybody? lol - Jeremiahdixon - 03-12-2018

I think if your that big of a fan that you want to portray a Hogan, Savage, Rock, Cena, etc, just change the name. But we all should police it and make sure the ideas are new and not just rewriting a history book, that ruins the brainstorm and creativity of those of us who brainstorm actual stories to write about.

Anybody? lol - erikblack - 03-12-2018

Meh..I can see doiing it though I'm not one to do it. I like doing original shit....Though I can't wait to read Erik Black possibly kicking the shit out of Barry Allen. I hate that show...never could get into a super hero show where the hero looks like a guy I would legit destroy in two seconds

Anybody? lol - Imperial - 03-14-2018

Personally, I disagree with it. Simply because half the fun of playing a real-life wrestler is their backstory, mannerisms and the entire lore surrounding that character. This, when applied to a fed with a mixture of the two, really makes it hard to reconcile. It would make little sense for a fresh wrestler to match up against The Rock for instance.

It would also hurt my soul to see a The Rock lose trash-talk battles.

However, I do think exceptions can be made in that it requires GM/Admin permission before a real-life wrestler is allowed. This would guarantee that the handler handling him is known to be responsible, and has the ability to use the wrestler of his choice. I don't think we should do any policing as a fed, but the admins regulating it makes sense to me.

re:Anybody? lol - Vincent Lane - 03-15-2018

There HAVE been some really fun takes on real wrestler feds. I know a while back John Samuels was in a fed as Ric Flair, and the shit he wrote as Naitch was fucking hilarious.

Anybody? lol - Z - 03-15-2018

Maybe give it a test run or their own division or show to be sure they are not put into certain situations. I just don't see guys like the Rock, Cena, and Undertaker competing in scat matches. It all depends on the situation though. Would love to see a Voodoo Lumberjack match between Z and Taker though.
