Hey Guys, real quick.. - Darius Xavier - 10-25-2017 I just wanted to touch base on something for a moment: Use of OOC elements in a roleplay. As you all know, the use of such elements is forbidden. We're required as members of the XWF to live up to certain standards and to adhere to certain rules. Mistakes happen, and that is understandable. Sometimes the line can be blurred for some, or you may think mix up information, etc. As I said, things happen. What is completely unacceptable is the blatant disregard for our rules and standards, just so you can get a jab in at your opponent. Whether it's because you think it will give you the upper hand, or because you're mad at them for whatever reason that also stems from an OOC source. Here are a few examples: Knowing the handler personally in real life or online, and using knowledge gained out of character to benefit you in character. "I can completely see why you're not up to snuff, seeing as your girlfriend cheated on you last weekend with your best friend." That is obvious knowledge your character itself would not have if it weren't a part of the opponents in character story. "Look man, you can tell me how you're not going to show up, but I watch you login to the website everyday and sit on the OOC board.." Does the WWE refer to their website logins and forums in their typical promos? Not that I am aware of. Those are the more obvious OOC remarks that are prohibited. A couple that may not be obvious to everyone: "Your last promo received just as many likes as Guy A, thus proving that Guy A and Guy B = Guy C, you can't hide the truth from me! I checked your account registration date." Correlating things in general isn't frowned upon. But when you begin to correlate things based on OOC reasonings that's where we begin to cross a line that should never be crossed. Again, I just wanted to touch base with you guys and remind you that our rules and standards are in place for a reason. Moving forward, if you continue to break the the rule, there will be consequences. But the first time I'll just delete your OOC stuff and replace it with: ![]() ![]() Remember guys, have fun and enjoy yourselves. Just make sure you're following the rules so that others can do the same. -Dr. M Hey Guys, real quick.. - Grande Ricardo - 10-25-2017 Ok, I had actually thought of this. We obviously refer to promos as being uploaded and able to be viewed, if I had Ricardo throwing a fit because I couldn't like his own promo video, or would that be an issue? Hey Guys, real quick.. - The Engineer - 10-25-2017 Thanks for bringing this up. I've seen overt references to OOC stuff in otherwise great promo's that really made me grit my teeth. I'm also not a fan of making it seem like the promo's win you the match IC. It just seems....bizarre.... re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - Vincent Lane - 10-25-2017 To Grande's point - I don't think referencing the website or the promos as such is in itself OOC. The XWF site is sort of in an in-between area where it exists both OOC and IC... but we have to keep in mind that the reps and likes aren't something that the handlers can control about their characters, so it isn't really fair to use them as ammo. For instance, Vinnie Lane's whole gimmick is that he's a handsome rock star type with (now) loads of money. If you screengrab my profile and show that I only have 200 xbux, that undermines the character. It's also just sort of cheap and boring. To me it's along the same lines of taking a pic base and saying "duh huh, you look like Kevin Bacon!" or whoever the IRL base is... it's fourth wall breaking and jarring to the reader. Basically, if you wonder at all if something might be OOC, it probably is and you shouldn't do it. Hey Guys, real quick.. - Grande Ricardo - 10-25-2017 That's what I figured, I just wasn't sure it was ever addressed. re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - Theo Pryce - 10-25-2017 (10-25-2017, 02:42 PM)King Vincent Said: I'm sorry what? re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - Vincent Lane - 10-25-2017 Quiet, you. re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - Thomas Nixon - 10-25-2017 (10-25-2017, 01:01 PM)Maddy and Engy Said: Thanks for bringing this up. It just seems....bizarre.... Whenever someone insinuates that there's a relation to posting promos and winning matches, it ruins RPs for me (and this happens a fuckton). Like "I'm not worried about so and so, he hasn't even posted a promo". That makes zero fucking sense in character. One of my biggest pet peeves. re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - "Dark Warrior" Micheal Graves - 10-25-2017 (10-25-2017, 05:46 PM)Thomas Nixon Said:(10-25-2017, 01:01 PM)Maddy and Engy Said: Thanks for bringing this up. It is still annoying to read however. re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - Finn Kühn - 10-25-2017 There is a way to address that kind of style of attack in kayfabe though. I've said in my RPs before that half of the battle would be the mind games, the verbal sparring, etc. Ideally if I would get into a situation where my opponent wasn't posting I would say that I was in their head, and that's why they're too scared to post a promo, and if it's that way with uploading a promo then beating them in the ring would be no sweat. Still, people don't like that in general and that's fair. re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - The Engineer - 10-25-2017 (10-25-2017, 05:57 PM)Finn Kühn Said: There is a way to address that kind of style of attack in kayfabe though. Sure, but there's a difference between saying someone who doesn't promo "doesn't care" (which I have personally done), or is lazy, or is shook....and saying "you will lose the match because you didnt promo before deadline". The latter is nonsensical. Hey Guys, real quick.. - Peter Fn Gilmour - 10-25-2017 If I had any promos that had stuff from ooc I apologize greatly. That is all re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - Unknown Soldier - 10-25-2017 Also, I haven't been around for awhile, but if your opponent calls you out for your ooc as being nonsense that doesn't make sense it used to significantly hurt you almost to the point you're guaranteed to lose. re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - JimCaedus - 10-26-2017 (10-25-2017, 09:32 PM)Peter Fn Gilmour Said: If I had any promos that had stuff from ooc I apologize greatly. That is all lol This is all because of me bro, at least the execution of the thread. I completely agree with what's being said, in fact, there was a nice chunk of time I took a past warning as seriously as it needed to be and stopped one of my strategies which is this melding of some ooc things into an IC format for attack. Of course, when ooc comments about my IC dead wife being alive or my personal appearance (I believe the words were "losing my hair" or going bald or something, obviously targeting that I have a high hairline identified from pics sent in Skype chat) with the insulting descriptive not at all describing my avatar, then watching as handlers Liked the post and not only witnessing the writer himself not being punished but winning said match definitely sent me the wrong message. It wasn't something hard to miss, but it was missed. Then getting edited for my ooc attack against Ally (which I assure you, I had no idea would be considered ooc) felt incredibly double standard. Now it feels like a bit of an attack, especially with several of you (one of which Hated my last RP) hopping on this thread to not offer anything constructive, just your own opinions bashing what I've been known to do. And a few of you have precedent for debating me on a few of these subjects as well, adding to the feeling of a gang up and myself being majority called out without a namedrop. The thread theme is correct but the message being sent by ancillary voices isn't very just, it's bullish. I personally have no problem adhering to these rules, just make sure I don't have to tattle like a child to let it be known I'm not just a perpetrator but a target of the same kind of attacks in promo, which, no one seemed to mind as long as it was used against me. I already spoke to a brass member about this but it seems it was ignored. Don't mistake this as me being angry, I'm not. I'm just not gonna not offer my side of things. re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - Mr. Oz - 10-26-2017 "What is this OOC you speak of, Brother Matthews?" re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - The Engineer - 10-27-2017 (10-26-2017, 10:00 PM)JimCaedus Said:(10-25-2017, 09:32 PM)Peter Fn Gilmour Said: If I had any promos that had stuff from ooc I apologize greatly. That is all For me personally, when I first responded here I didn't know it was about you. I only saw the promo that got edited after the fact and was then like "so that's where this thread came from". As with most things, what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and if OOC was used against you that no, thats not fair either. To play devil's advocate that stuff you described could have been missed by a judge, it wasn't super overt. However, if a rule is getting busted I don't think it would be tattling to call on the brass. While this is a game, it does have rules which should be followed and we can't count on staff to police everything, thats a tough job especially for volunteers. We kinda need to police ourselves too. So yeah, I would say if you catch someone using it on you next time, feel free to call it out. Furthermore, I don't think you should walk away from this feeling like there is some kind of wave against you. You're very well regarded and you just won a big match at the PPV. You're clearly respected, just maybe tone down the overt usages of message board reg dates ![]() re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - Vincent Lane - 10-27-2017 Jimmy - In this instance it really didn't matter one way or another since your opponent was a no show anyway. That's why I asked that a big deal not be made of it, just a quick explanation of stuff and a thread like this to help remind EVERYONE about the issue. Fact is, Shane had posted quite a long time ago about not using profile screen caps and stuff like that, I just haven't been able to find the post. Sometimes they go missing, as is the way of the boards. I'll tell you this, though - you've got to stop giving a shit about who hates or likes your RPs. It means nothing. Some people do it in character, some people just hate everything (like Gilly) and guys like Soldier I still haven't figured out, and I've been chatting with the dude for like three years. Stop taking things personally. Sometimes someone does something and I see it as an opportunity to bring it up to the fed as a whole. It's not you being singled out, it's more you reminding me of something that's probably been forgotten by the masses - in this case, the pics of reps/profiles being OOC... which you HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING was made against the rules, because I can't even find the post that states it. Also, trust me, any time anyone is brought up as possibly going OOC, we look at it. I tend to be a lot more lenient with it personally because I think it's interesting to see people try to creatively nudge at OOC stuff without being insulting, but realistically it should just be avoided as much as possible. It's pretty hard to make a case about a hairline comment, honestly, because I insult people with absurd stuff all the time. I've said people looked completely different from their pic bases just to get under their skin. So maybe it was in reference to those pics you mentioned, I don't know, but maybe it wasn't... that's what makes it hard to say. Anyway man, relax. No one is out to get you. Except the government. Hey Guys, real quick.. - Kropotkin - 10-27-2017 AGAB. All governments are based. Hey Guys, real quick.. - Peter Fn Gilmour - 10-27-2017 Jim... fuck skype lol I cant even get on it because some ppl continue to not take me out of the group cg at so I can log in. It freezes all thr fn time! And yes the govt sux too re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - Vincent Lane - 10-27-2017 Gilly we have take you out and put you back into that chat so many times it's ridiculous. You know you can leave it yourself too, right? You are the only human being with the skype issues that you have. Are you using version 1.0? Hey Guys, real quick.. - Peter Fn Gilmour - 10-27-2017 Ive tried that but its still freezing. Maybe I gotta get rid of those nude pics of the sugay sisters ![]() Hey Guys, real quick.. - Cadryn Tiberius - 10-27-2017 Gilly, if you're using an Android device try force stopping the Skype app in your app settings. There is a well known memory loss bug that forces it to freeze or to lag up quite often. Otherwise, I'd uninstall and reinstall, and if all else fails try one of the other versions of Skype on the app store. At one point there was Beta, regular, and I believe one other one worth looking into. Hey Guys, real quick.. - Peter Fn Gilmour - 10-27-2017 Ive tried to reinstall/install skype.. same fn problem Hey Guys, real quick.. - "Loverboy" Vinnie Lane - 10-29-2017 I kind of skimmed through this so this may have already been covered by someone, but there are more ways than I can even count to creatively take something that's OOC (and still feels OOC when mentioned sloppily in an RP) but craft it into a successful IC comment or jab. Think... it's all so obvious. But... and it's a plump butt... be careful, because when you think you've figured it out and it still comes off too OOC, you'll be destroyed if your opponent knows how to turn such tactics around on you full blast. In other words, it's not worth the risk if you're not sure you've got this somewhat tricky strategy down. Almost anything (except events that only happened in the handler's personal life) can be turned IC if done creatively enough through your written words. If anyone ever has a question about something like this or about an idea they want to try, feel free to message me and I'll definitely respond with my take. Just be warned, sometimes it takes me several days to get a message on here. Public questions right here in this thread are also welcome! re:Hey Guys, real quick.. - Doctor Louis D'Ville - 10-29-2017 (10-29-2017, 06:06 PM)Blacknut Shane <img src="https://i.imgur.com/pUgtAVa.gif"> Said: I kind of skimmed through this so this may have already been covered by someone, but there are more ways than I can even count to creatively take something that's OOC (and still feels OOC when mentioned sloppily in an RP) but craft it into a successful IC comment or jab.
