XIII - Marlow Raxis - 08-20-2017

"Some of the most frightening aspects we endure cannot be seen through the eyes of the living," Marlow says walking through an underground system of tombs, holding a poster of Jody Matrox in his hands, kicking aside rats, snakes, and corpse beetles from his path. "But what harbors in our souls. Fear is the instrument, Jody, that can crack the foundations of one's sanity; leaving one cascading through a void of light lost, alone, and forgotten. You may deny you know fear, but little prey, I will show you the error of your ignorance."

Dragging the poster along a lighted scone, Marlow drops the burning piece of trash to the ground; a symbol of things yet to come. Rounding the corner, leaving thoughts of his opponent to flutter away like night chasing the last vestiges of day, he enters a scantly illuminated chamber; where corpses, in varying stages of decomposition, line the walls in rustic chains, decorating the chamber like portraits. The four girls, his girls, kneel inside a painted circle surrounded by four lit candles, representing the four elements of Earth; each lost in their own individual chant.

Ignoring the ritual, he casually walks to the two satin, sheet covered bodies resting on alters erected from the hosts of these tombs. Looking from one to the other, while reaching to pull one sheet back...he speaks the incantation:

"I call thee! Spirits of the ancient realm of the dead. Thee who were the breath of a panting, fleeting world, still giving birth to life. I resurrect thy consciousness. I resurrect thy primal instinct and thy will to survive one more. I wrest thy disembodied presence from eternity to come forth now and serve me as you would serve your Gods. For I am your Master by the continuity of life and I inherited this era that was prepared by your hand, your existence, your death and now your resurrection."

"By the universal elements that I command and am a part of, I rip thee from thy limbo, thy prison and the nothingness of the abyss. I give thee new purpose, a new life, and salvation from the oblivion of being forgotten. Hear me as I call thee! By the presence, power and wisdom of time, space, distance, matter, light, dark, death, and life. I call thee ancient dead."

"Ancient dead when the earth was young and unencumbered. Hear me Ancient dead who worked magic and danced alongside Gods, communing with the Crone and the Horned One. Ancient Dead who walked between worlds as easily as modern man breathes and walks through thresholds. Hear me Ancient Dead! Hear me Ancient Dead! And RISE!"
