TV TITLE THOUGHT - Vincent Lane - 03-03-2017

What would you guys think if I added a little something to the TV Title...

I'm thinking of making it sort of a 'temporary' thing. Waht I mean is, if someone wins it and defends it successfully for say... I dunno... 8 weeks? 12? That person then vacates the title and has earned an X-Treme or Universal Title shot.

They could then go back and go for the TV again if they chose to after their title shot, if they fail to claim the gold.

I only think about it because I know that defending the TV every single week probably starts to feel like a burden after a while. This could give it some incentive, and also give a reason for others to try and get the title themselves.

I'd like to hear what you guys think.

TV TITLE THOUGHT - "Dark Warrior" Micheal Graves - 03-03-2017

TV for 8 weeks to earn and Xtreme shot sounds good. If you hold the Xtreme for so long you get tag shots and a briefcase already, so it would be like climbing the ladder.

re:TV TITLE THOUGHT - Shade - 03-03-2017

I like the Idea like the gift of the gods championship

TV TITLE THOUGHT - Oliver Last - 03-03-2017

Seems like a legit good idea.

TV TITLE THOUGHT - JimCaedus - 03-03-2017

(nods) I am proud of the title Vincent, very proud to hold it, but this is a good idea and I support it

TV TITLE THOUGHT - Thomas Nixon - 03-03-2017

I'm somewhat for it and somewhat against it. I kind of don't like the idea because it pretty much confirms that the belt alone isn't particularly valuable. I kind of believe that instead of making the belt the path to higher tier belts, you should just help it become more prestigious.

So instead of having the TV title be the opener on Savage it should return to being a main event or co main event spot. Then, it feels like it matters as its own entity.

There could still be a consolation for holding it 8 weeks or something, but the tv title alone should have value.

Because personally, even though the X-Treme title is the #2 belt around here, it comes off as meaningless because the whole point is to win a briefcase for a different and better belt. That's just my perspective on it. Feel free to disagree.

TV TITLE THOUGHT - JimCaedus - 03-03-2017

Well like I said, I am proud of the TV Title and clearly in my promos that comes through. Thomas you started it on a road to prestige and I've been trying, hopefully succeeding, in keeping it elevated. I agree both ways, I support both sides but I'll accept whatever decision is ultimately made.

TV TITLE THOUGHT - Thaddeus Duke - 03-03-2017

I tend to agree with Nixon here. It might send the message that it's valued less. When a guy wins that title, they pretty much move up the ranks anyways whenever they do finally lose it. What if you made the first month rigorous weekly defenses then, month two knock it down to two defenses per month from then out? I don't know that making it a disposable title is the way to go.

TV TITLE THOUGHT - "Dark Warrior" Micheal Graves - 03-04-2017

I retract what I said originally, Thaddeus and others have made good points.

It may be best to just leave it as it, or do as Thaddeus said and drop the defense rate down after the first 4.

re:TV TITLE THOUGHT - Vincent Lane - 03-04-2017

Good points guys.

I certainly don't want to devalue anything, I thought it might help bring more attention to it and give a reward to a guy who's consistently defending and winning.

As far as it opening the show... well, I always made it the main unless there was an X-Treme or Uni shot on the same show... those obviously would come after. I don't think Kato putting it on first really hurts anything, necessarily, since his first show had some huge matches on it.

It's a different approach I guess, to start off with a title defense. I know he doesn't mean it to come off as less important.

I dunno. I'll think about it.

TV TITLE THOUGHT - Jefferson Jackson - 03-04-2017

If you want to add more to it than just defending it maybe add more incentive via xbux. You already get paid for a title defense, maybe as you defend it for consecutive weeks the rate of pay goes up so much each time.

And just so it doesn't get too outrageous there be some sort of scale. I forget what the actual payouts right now and find it unnecessary to look it up.. So this is all hypothetical..

wk 1 - 5k

wk 2 - +500

3 - +500

1 month - +1000

5 wk - +500

6 - +500

7 - +500

2 months +2000

Maybe have a max somewhere or something. We've already made xbux great again by adding to the shop. There's a lot of valuable items that guys can pick up in there and we're only going to add to it. This could be an easy way for guys to accumulate some like you can do with the HMW and Federweight when they're hot.

Just a thought.

TV TITLE THOUGHT - JimCaedus - 03-04-2017

More excellent points. I don't think as the strap holder I should really even be weighing in on this anyway. Whatever is figured best for the XWF is what I'm behind. Honestly I'm just happy to have held any title at all you guys and in case there's concern about how I may react to losing a belt please don't be worried. I'm not goin anywhere and loss comes with the territory just as much as wins do.

TV TITLE THOUGHT - Kropotkin - 03-04-2017

Perhaps, and this is a bridge between the two ideas, when one holds it for 2-3 months, they earn a universal title shot only after they lose the title? That was it's not devaluing anything, and it's rewarding someone for their work. There's no stepping stone, just a reward for showing talent.

TV TITLE THOUGHT - Peter Fn Gilmour - 03-04-2017

im all for this

TV TITLE THOUGHT - Muddy Waters - 03-04-2017

I actually like the idea too. I think the title is already a stepping stone by nature any way.

Same for the Hart.

It would build some competition down for some of the lower card folks.

8 weeks as TV Champ gets you an XTreme Shot
12 Weeks with Hart gets you a Uni shot

TV TITLE THOUGHT - Jefferson Jackson - 03-04-2017

I don't really like the idea of so many title defenses leads to a shot at a different title. I like the separation between the titles.

The TV Title is special, I think, because you defend it each week. It's not like we're over flowing with guys around here, so, if a new guy comes in and picks up a couple of wins he's usually fighting for it. It's cool that it gives new guys a chance to fight for a title if they come in hot and it gives the champ a little twist because it's not like he can really know the competition coming in. It may look like a lower tier belt with new guys getting their shots, but it is, right? At the same time, the dude defending it every week looks tough as hell and gets a better payout every single week with his title defenses.

I'm not saying that the TV champ should never get his chance to climb the ladder, but maybe some guys just don't want to? If the dude has it for 12 weeks, I doubt it will go unrecognized. I just don't see a reason to be writing and counting down to something like that. Rewarding them with an Xtreme or Uni shot is just going to make the champ want to give the belt up for it, like for some after getting a briefcase.

The Hart I feel is a step up from that, as defenses aren't as often and it's a bit harder to get in the running for it. Same with the Xtreme Title and we know how it's unique.

I say keep the prestige in each individual title. It's not like anyone is denied around here. Anyone can challenge anyone and Chaos has made it clear that it could go for the top belt, as well.

TV TITLE THOUGHT - JimCaedus - 03-06-2017

As an aside I personally do want to climb the ladder, that's one of the more rewarding and challenging aspects as far as competition for me that I very much look forward to. I'm not saying you were referring to me JJ, I'm just throwing it out there so you guys and Vin know my personal short and long term goals in the XWF. I love the TV Title, I absolutely agree that it holds it's own prestige even as the lower of the main singles titles but as soon as someone beats Caedus for it it'll be that person's time to shine and maintain that prestige and I'll move on and take on all the challenges that lie beyond it.
