My Trash Talk - Dolly Waters - 10-21-2016 On a scale of 1-10, 10 being your Rock level trash, 1 being horrendous Fred Rogers type shit, where would you rank Dolly's trash talk? And in what ways could I improve? re:My Trash Talk - Unknown Soldier - 10-21-2016 Better than Ghost Tank but not as good as Peter. My Trash Talk - Dolly Waters - 10-21-2016 Better than nothing I suppose My Trash Talk - Dolly Waters - 10-21-2016 Dumb thread, shouldn't have posted it, just bored re:My Trash Talk - Unknown Soldier - 10-21-2016 I don't think it's a dumb thread I was just being silly. I think the problem sometimes with people that 'think' they struggle with trash talk lies just within that thought process. The problem is that they put people like Feder, Maddy, Luca, and Gator up on a pedestal. Like the hot girl way out of your league. What makes a good trash talker is confidence. Have confidence in yourself and you'll deliver better trash talk. Peter has the most confidence out of anyone at trash talking and look at the fire he delivers! ![]() My Trash Talk - Dolly Waters - 10-21-2016 Yeah probably shouldn't have noted individuals, just pointed out some of my favorites. Couldn't list them all and gilly is one of them... Going to edit the post My Trash Talk - Mr Killjoy - 10-21-2016 I really like it, your one of my current fav trash talkers, 8/10. One thing about your promos though that bugs me is your color for your narrative text and talking text is both pink which sometimes makes things confusing. Try using different shades of Pink or different colors all together. EDIT: nevermind just gone back and realised you did use alternate colors in your last promo, think it was the promos before that I noticed everything was all pink. My Trash Talk - Dolly Waters - 10-21-2016 No your right I've been using my "self talk" when dolly is the narrator the same color as when she's speaking directly, something someone else pointed out, I'm going to be correcting moving forward. My last promo had a separate narrator which was white text. That is for the props though, means a lot. My Trash Talk - Hunter Payne - 10-21-2016 Hey your trash talk was good enough to beat me. ![]() I'm curious, what did you think of my trash talk when we went at it? re:My Trash Talk - Dolly Waters - 10-21-2016 (10-21-2016, 09:26 PM)Hunter Payne Said: Hey your trash talk was good enough to beat me. Trying not to over simplify, but it was just really hard to come back against. Solid work, thought I was going to lose. My Trash Talk - ThEWiTcHDoCtOr - 10-22-2016 I think examining yourself is good, then going back weeks or months later and rereading with fresh eyes to be honest and you'll be like wtf was I doing here or that was good I should do that more.
I may be in the minority on this but I feel trash talking in general is a vastly overrated thing, if you can master it there is a talent and use for it, but when your rps become 90% trash talk I think it takes away from setting the tone and mood of an rp which when done well can really help trash talk be more meaningful and to the point. Promos are effective when they are funny or connect, that doesn't always have to be trash talk to me. That being said, I like a lot of what you have to do as Dolly, it is not boring, it reads smoothly most of the time in what small samples I have seen so far. That in itself is hard to accomplish at times. I would worry less about what you say and worry more about how it is delivered and making sense then, when you do that you can always go back and change content to be more potent, but then you ensure the setting and placement are always on par. My Trash Talk - Chris Chaos - 10-22-2016 I am not sure how old you are but I know that it might be tough sometimes to write as a twelve-year-old especially as a 12 year old girl. I think your trash talk has to be on par with the intelligence level of a 12 year old which is always tough to do because you want to use big vocab and complex disses and stuff sometimes but that wouldn't make sense in terms of the age of your character and the realism of the RP itself. Overall dude I think you are pretty solid I mean when I faced you as Muddy Waters I was almost positive I was going to lose. Really enjoy reading your stuff. I hear you though sometimes I'm My Own biggest critic as well and sometimes I feel like my character get stale and monotonous because it's the same thing every week but then I remember that my character is an asshole and it all works out LOL re:My Trash Talk - Vincent Lane - 10-22-2016 (10-22-2016, 12:02 AM)ThEWiTcHDoCtOr Said: Just wanted to chime in a little here. I was always on that same side of the fence as you, Witch Doctor. I always focused on story and a lot of times didn't have any sort of shit talk at all towards my opponents. Now, that's fine in some cases, and if your opponent isn't heavy on the exchange it won't matter much anyway - BUT - it does play a factor. Just like we are "grading" stories and general enjoyment of the reading, the zingers and the shit talk plays a factor. For one, it keeps things relevant. You might write an incredible story, and from what I've seen of you you probably can, but if it has nothing to do with the match coming up, you will lose "points" that way. By addressing your opponent, even though it may seem disconnected from the story (it almost always does, honestly) it makes things relevant to the match and to the opponent. Remember, the whole premise of the XWF is centered around this insane wrestling promotion existing somewhere. The matches happen. I didn't reach any level of real success until I started focusing more on my opponents and volleying with them back and forth, even though people always complimented my writing and stories. Hope this helps! My Trash Talk - ThEWiTcHDoCtOr - 10-22-2016 It's a balance.
