Chambers settles in... - OneInTheChamber - 08-08-2016 August 9, 2016 Just after midnight Charlotte, North Carolina It has been raining all night in Charlotte, North Carolina. The sky is light up brightly by the building lights due to the low clouds and the rain reflecting the light. The camera pans through the streets that are nearly empty due to the water standing in the streets. A few drenched people with broke umbrellas run down a side street and a few are huddled under the corner of an apartment complex awaiting a break in the storm to make the run to their car. The camera continues to pan around and ends up zooming into the window of an upstairs apartment and in the window, Chris Chambers stands staring out the window taking in the view of the rain. Chambers standing there in nothing but a pair of cotton boxer takes the view in and closes his eyes and takes a deep breath before he speaks. Chris: What a beautiful thing to take in, watching rain. Every drop different, every destination unknown, truly one of the most beautiful marvels of the world that God has blessed us with. When it rains, it is like the heavens just open up and the earth is refreshed once again, washed new. And that is what I think about my entrance into the XWF. I came here to wash clean the filth and dirt that is the current upper echelon of the XWF. When I got here, I really didn’t think I was going to stand out right away, I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m not surprised at myself, just at the reception of the rest of the XWF superstars. And here I am, already won my first match, albeit by count out because I respect my boy Jakob. And now, I’m about to face the number two man in all the history of the XWF, John Madison. What an absolute blessing! I can’t tell you how excited I am that I get to show off my skills and abilities against John. I really do appreciate the fact that you have called me out John, and when we step into the ring, and we take it to the Xtreme with our Fire Truck, Ambulance, and Police Car match, truly the world will finally see what I have been talking about lately when I say that I am going to be the new face of the Xtreme division. Chris walks over to his couch and lays down across it. He kicks his feet up on the coffee table and reaches for the television remote. He starts flipping through channels and stops on ESPN. He catches a glimpse of Michael Phelps winning yet another gold medal. Chris smiles and looks back to the camera. Chris: Now that is a real champion. People judge him for his actions outside of swimming, but the fact of the matter is that we are all battling our own demons, and for him to persevere through drug allegations and a DWI, and to still come out fighting like this, and still being at the top of his game, dominating everyone he faces in the pool, that is what I strive to do in the XWF. Madison and others have come out making fun of the fact that I don’t want to cuss, that I want to be a person that makes the XWF better, not worse, yet all I hear is words, and see no action. When Wednesday rolls around, I will have already defeated Robbie Bourbon and Jakob, you will just have to witness to what I have been telling you since you decided to call me out. Now I understand you still have beef with Shane , and I understand that, but you have to realize that through all this pain, you need healing, and I want to help you with that. So when you come face me, you do what you have to do, you give it your all, you let out all that frustration that you have built up man, but just know that whatever you dish out, I can take, because at the end of the night, I will be the one with my hand raised, whether you show up or not, that is on you, but I am going to give it my all and I am going to walk away victorious. And as agreed upon, when I win, you will support me financially or however possible in my quest to become the next X-Treme Champion of the XWF. Chris reaches over to the table and grabs his cellphone. He pulls up his twitter feed and scrolls through for a few minutes not finding anything that peeks his interest. He continues through his phone and as he is about to put it down, the phone rings. Chris looks at the screen and sees the picture of his sister on the phone and he immediately answers. Chris: Jenny, is everything ok?? Jenny: I am so sorry. I couldn’t sleep and figured you’d be up bro. I just wanted to tell you congrats on your win against Jakob and just tell you how much it meant to Tiffany that you won. You really are her role model Chris, and I’m just grateful that you are my brother. Chris: Jenny, it is okay. God blessed me with you two as family, especially after we lost mom and dad, you are the only family I have left, and I will always be here for you guys. Now go to bed dear sister, and I’ll stop by and see you two before I head off to Rio for my match with John Madison. I’ll do what I can to make sure you two get your flight and tickets and hotel taken care of. Jenny: Thanks bro. You do know who John Madison is right? Number Two on the All Time list for the XWF. Please be careful. I don’t know what we would do without you. Chris: You know I will be, besides, he is washed up and his prime has long past. He is no longer the man he used to be, he is a shell of his old self, and when he steps into the ring, he will regret it. I hope that it helps him deal with his demons, but in the end, it doesn’t matter about him, he is just one more rung for me to climb towards the X-Treme title. Good night. I love you! Jenny: Good night! Chris hangs up the phone on his sister and smiles as he gets up from the couch and turns off his television. He walks over to his bar and grabs a bottle of water and takes a sip and clears his throat. He walks back to the window and notices that the rain has started to fall harder and little bit more violently. He looks over back at the camera with a smile. Chris: And just as the weather changes and becomes more violent, how it will be when I truly start working my way toward Unknown Soldier and his X-Treme title. Don’t get me wrong, I will continue to uplift and pray for each and every one of my opponents, but when the going truly gets going tough, I am going to step up to the plate and show the fans of the XWF and the staff that I am not only deserving of a title shot, but the new face of the X-Treme division as well as the XWF as a whole. Madison, when it is all said and done, you will have to figure out where to go from here my man, because my journey is only just beginning and you will not stand in my way. When I win, you will push me forward, and whatever I can do to help you achieve your goal with Shane, I will do as well because I do not want you to live with that anger and frustration, I want you to grow from it and become stronger, hopefully towards the man you used to be, not the fragment you are now. Chris closes his blinds and walks into the hallway. He stops and looks at the pictures hanging from the wall. A picture of Chris’ parents hangs on the wall, his dad wearing a police uniform and his mother standing beside him. Chris sighs a heartbroken sigh as he kisses his hand and pushes it up against the picture. Chris: John, I’ll tell you why I recommended a fire truck, ambulance, police car match, and that is because my father taught me that helping people through life is one of the greatest things you can do to help build someone up. My father, God rest him, was a chief of police, part time fireman and paramedic, and those are some of the real heroes of our country. The ones that put life and limb on the line day after day, and what better way to pay respect to them, than by giving them a small but important part of our match. You know, my father and mother were shot and killed by a man that my father put behind bars, and one day, that may will know justice, but God will be the one handing out that justice, not me, I have found forgiveness for him, because we are all human, and have bits and pieces of Adam in us, thus we are all born sinners. And I pray that we all find peace in our storm. And here we stand, on the precipice of change John, and as you begin your journey of redemption, I pray you find it, I begin my journey to the top of the XWF, and I pray that you can dust yourself off and get the rust off after our match, because I know it will be a tough road for you, as it will be for me, but I welcome the challenge with open arms. Truly, I hope the best for you John… after our match that is. Anyway, enough for tonight. I’ve got to get my rest, going to be a very busy two weeks. Good night! Chris walks into his bedroom and plugs his cellphone into the charger and sets his alarms on his phone. He turns the lights off and face plants on his bed. He rolls over and pulls the cold sheet over his feet. He smiles as he starts to get comfortable in the bed. He closes his eyes and begins to pray. Chris: Father, thank you for allowing me to live yet another day. Thank you for blessing me with the breath of life and the freedom to live life abundantly. I am so grateful that you have given me this opportunity to step out in faith into this new adventure in the XWF and allow me to praise your name on national and worldwide television. Thank you for allowing me to lift up these men and women of the federation to you, that your will be done in my life and in my career. I pray that you keep a healing hedge of protection over my sister and my niece as they begin to travel as well as over me as I begin to train and prepare for my match against John Madison. Thank you Lord for being so good to me. I pray that one day you deliver the beautiful woman that you have called me to spend the rest of my life serving and providing for. Thank you for all you are doing and going to do. Amen. Chris rolls over in the bed and falls asleep with his head buried in the pillow. The camera begins to pan back out and falls back out the window. As the camera pans back out the window. Lightning strikes in the distance rapidly. The sound of rain echoes through the camera as the screen begins to fade to black. |
