I'm trying to finally make Nico a legitimate threat, but I'm not sure if I have the writing chops to be able to do so. So, am I good enough to actually become relevant and stay relevant? What do I need to change to make myself a better RPer?

I think you do fine. You just need more consistency.
Maybe because you have your ideas spread across too many characters it seems to dilute your point of view. It could simply be an issue of not doing enough once you actually have matches booked (1-2 RPs aren't going to win against someone good).
Other than that, I think your story and writing are perfectly fine.

Thanks, but I feel like my descriptions of what my characters are doing are just... wonky. They feel clunky and run-on to me.

Edit.
If you don't like your product, edit it. Read it over, cut out unneeded words. Look up synonyms to keep your language fresh and non-repetitive. Try to use action instead of passive descriptors.
Write what you would want to read.
