Nate Higgers grew up in a Southern Baptist family and followed in his father's and older brother's footsteps by joining the US Marine Corps out of high school. After a year and a brief tour in the Middle East, Higgers was honorably discharged for psychological reasons.
After coming home, Higgers joined the local police force and quickly rose to Detective, the youngest ever in his department. He had a very high bust and conviction rate and kept his small district very safe until he was accused of a bad shooting of an unarmed black male in 2011.
Cleared of criminal wrongdoing after several delays for his trial resulted in a prolonged stay in jail, which introduced him to the ways of the Aryan Brotherhood. Though he has not officially joined their ranks and does not publicly acknowledge their influence, the grudges he holds against people of color are evident.
