Switching away from these board permanently - "Loverboy" Vinnie Lane - 12-17-2015
Words cannot describe how tired I am of these boards not functioning the way they are intended since the upgrade I went through endless hours of stress to perform, simply because it was basically being forced on us.
Over the next few weeks I'll be doing some research to find an entirely new board system for us to use. Â One that actually works correctly and has a competent support team that actually answers questions with real answers/help. Â MyBB boards are an absolute joke at this point.
If anyone has any good experiences with boards that are either free or NOT several hundred dollars to acquire a license for, please feel free to share. Â I'd prefer to switch to a system that will accept an import of our existing files (threads, user accounts, etc) but even if we end up having to start fresh it will be better than running into new and completely unacceptable errors multiple times a day the way I've been doing ever since we re-opened.

Yes VB is great, and is what a forum I used to be a major member of (non efed) was using back in around 2007. VB is the reason I eventually stumbled upon MyBB... VB is the paid version of MyBB as their similarities are closer than any other competitors.
Unfortunately, VB is expensive. I don't remember off hand how expensive, but I will say when I took over XWF, I wanted very badly to launch our new site/forums under VB but then I defaulted to MyBB due to their similarity and affordability. We'll have to do some serious investigating not only to determine what is the bottom line cost for running a VB script that would offer everything a place like XWF needs, but also to make sure their current software isn't putting their users through the same hell that the current MyBB (their shit upgrade v1.8) has been putting their users through since they released it over a year ago and still haven't fixed. I'm completely unaware if VB has recently had some major upgrade that is frustrating its users(customers) to no end, but their similarities across the board does concern me in that light.
All in all, VB is definitely worth another look because they WERE absolutely wonderful back in around 2007.
