I wanted to know the view on the use of images in RPs as I read about and noticed a lot of people using them...
I personally haven't used one yet as I believe that half the point in a RP isn't just to entertain but is surely to paint a picture in the readers head through description. I wanted to know what other people thought of this ?
Will it effect my RP impact if I don't use images?

I believe its just to make the rp feel more creditable. You can read cnn news story. But then there are some news stories with a pic about the story in it. Just helps the reader i suppose. Dont believe it gives advantages. I can be wrong tho

Pictures/Music can provide more visuals and help paint the overall picture of your story.
The judging of the role plays is solely based on the writing presented. A picture may provide more entertainment value to a piece to help keep a read more engaged, but the overall judging of who wins is done by the entertainment value/writing quality of the text provided.

In my case, I 'pretty up' my RPs a bit. I use a picture, a song from youtube, and usually a message about it being an Ann Thraxx RP....

I did change the style a bit in that last one. I just do it because I think it looks nice. Same reason I used the border (besides the last link)
I like to set a mood, usually, that's why I use the music.
But, you don't have to do anything. Prime example: Kate Astrofey.
I love her writing. And that's all it is. Writing. No pictures, no music, not even coloured text.

In no way, shape or form would it effect your roleplay in my opinion. I have used images in alot of my roleplays and at other times none at all. Sure it helps paint a better picture of the RP and gives it that extra umgh, but the roleplay is all about the writing.
I mean honestly how long do you actually look at the picture anyways 1 maybe 2 seconds 9unless it shows a little skin for you pervs lol). The true entertainment in a roleplay is by showing off your skill and making things entertaining. Alot of people add humor which always catches readers attention, while others like myself like to add detail. For instance someone will say their character reached for the door knob and left it simple like that, when I on the other hand would write something like "Sarah Saint James reached for the door knob the cold metal sending a shiver down her spine."
It's all in the writing I wouldn't worry too much about images unless you want to, I honestly do it for my own satisfaction because I don't want people to forget what my character pic base looks like since I don't use it as my avatar.
