But those are domestic cases. Domestic violence and going AWOL not once, but twice for the Marines are two entirely different things.

I'm not sure if you just mean that they aren't federal, but all of those guys were accused of criminal acts, not civil.

But, going AWOL during peacetime or war time is still running away, and breaking an oath taken multiple times. Leaving during basic is one thing, but the sign up, go through basic, A-school, and then run away is a huge disgrace. Maybe I see it a lot worse because I was raised by a drill sergeant, and never really escaped the military life.
