Gods and Monsters (Rp 4) - Darkwynd - 11-03-2014

You're all no doubt wondering "where the fuck is Darkwynd? What is he up to?". Well, first of all, you guys are some nosey flickers. But yes, he hasn't been heard from in a couple of days. The reason being that he has been busy getting to know his personal interviewer, Shelly Simmons. As I speak, the two have just walked into an Opium Den in China. Well, it used to be an Opium Den. Now, it's simply a tea house. A place where people come to sit, conversate, and have tea. The two are dressed casually. Nothing special about it, just a chance to talk. As they are seated, the camera follows them. Shelly looks around then sighs nervously.

"Ummm...this place is nice, DW...but uh, I don't speak a word of Chinese."

He looked at her quizically, ordering two mint teas in perfect Mandarins. He then asked her a question.

"Exactly what do you mean by you don't speak Chinese? My dear girl, there is more to this country than just one language. There are many different dialects. Such as Mandarin."

"Excuse me?"

"Nothing. I was only expressing my interest in this country. Did you know that it's army is like UBER disciplined? Or that Chinese food is more popular than Mexican food where I'm from? Red China is awesome."

She giggles a bit. She hasn't heard China referred to as "Red China" in a long time. Her great grandfather was totally against communism after all. But you see, Shelly hasn't paid much attention to China lately. She was an all American girl from Philadelphia. She loved apple pie. She was Miss Teen America three times in a row. She has only dated three men, separately, in her life. To hear this slightly insane man speaking of "Red China" was amusing. Indeed. The two took their tea and set it on the table. Shelly looks around the table.

"Ummm..."

Darkwynd tilts his head in confusion.

"What?"

"Err...I need some sugar..."

"Woman...I barely know you."

She narrows her eyes.

"You know that's not what I meant. I am a professional, DW!"

"Shhh!" He places a finger over his lips then whispers. "You'll wake the baby."

Shelly facepalms. Her confusion around Darkwynd grew, day by day. He was just so unpredictable. She just shook her head.

"Darkwynd...you know as well as I do that there is np baby here."

"....what?"

"You said that I'd wake the baby. Look around. Do you see any babies?"

He looks at her oddly, sipping his tea.

"I didn't say that. You're imagining stuff, Michelle."

The two just looked at each other, until a loud BANG was heard.

BANG BANG BANG! People dropping to the floor like flies, blood splattering everywhere. Darkwynd grabbed Shelly quickly, pulling her under the table with him. Of course, she was screaming. He quickly placed a hand over her mouth as three men in suits burst into the dining room, machine guns in hand. He whispered to Shelly.

"The rioters...they're here..."

"You mean the extras from the Tyson Fury promo?"

"No....they're not extras. They really don't like Tyson Fury. Now, they're taking it out on everyone else though."

The two hid under the table, conversing. Jim, the ever loyal cameraman caught their conversation on tape. Soon, on news stations around China, the hostage situation was being broadcast. The headline on the six o'clock news read "Debuting Wrestler and His Personal Interviewer Held Hostage at the Dragon's Den". The men were shooting patrons, one by one. Shelly looked at Darkwynd in a panic.

"We should call someone. Like the police. Do you have your..."

Where did he go? He was there one second, gone the next. Like the wind.

"...Great..." she looked up and gulped as she saw an AK-47 pointed right at her cute lil unturned nose. "...wait! No! I'm just a reporter, please, don't! "

The man grabbed her arm, threatening her with his weapon as his other two friends unbuttoned their pants. This was a special treat for them. A blonde white girl.

"Darkwynd! Help!"

Just as the young woman was to be penetrated, a black wind lifted her hair. It was evil...but at the same time, she felt a bit of benevolence. Suddenly, the first man's neck twisted at an awkward angle and he fell. But the attacker remained unseen. Just the black wind howling through the Dragon's Den. Attacker two felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around. Noone there. But the pain in his abdomen was there...and so were his intestines, laying on the floor. The third attacker's Beretta twisted upwards toward his mouth by an unseen force, his finger was forced down...and...

BANG!

Assisted suicide. Then silence...Shelly peeked out from the table to see Darkwynd knelt over a child...gold light emanating from his right hand.

"What...the...fuck?"

"Shhh...I must focus..."

She watched as he went about his work. Their wounds were healing, and they were waking up. Darkwynd healed the last person, then moved over the the bodies of the three rioters. He shook his head, sadness in his eyes. She saw a different side of him. Plus she'd seen that he was..."special". Exhausted, he sat back in a chair. The obvious question was then asked by Shelly.

"What....what was all th-"

Later on, the two sat on the top of the very same restaurant where the massacre and healing had taken place. The cherry at the end of Darkwynd's cigarette flashed in the dying sunlight as he stared into the sunset. Honestly, he was still tired from using his gift. Silence now the only sound between the two friends, Shelly just stared at him. Finally, that silence was broken by Shelly.

"How...what..."

She began, but he interrupted.

"...when I was born, let's just say that I wasn't so much born as I was created. Genetically engineered."

It was true. As we dove deeper into his past, Darkwynd became stranger. Indeed, he was weird. Shelly thought so as well, but being the sweet young girl that she was, she said nothing. She put her hand on his shoulder. He pulled away from her.

"Please don't touch me."

She sighed.

"I'm sorry. I just figured maybe you needed a friend, you know."

He chuckled under his breath.

"Hah. Friends. Do you know what those mean to me? When I was a young creature, the only friends I had were the robots at the lab. The scientists even made me a little robot puppy. But you know something, Shelly? Those scientists weren't my friends. Oh no. They wanted nothing more from me than to run tests. To prepare me to destroy the man who's genes I sprang forth."

"You still haven't told me your father's name. Or your daughter. Or your wife."

He looked down, his eyes filled with tears. Unlike his father, he had a heart. The other donor was a nun. Straight from the Vatican. That was his home though. That was all that he knew. They had instilled him with the power. But it came at a price.

"The only part of yhat which wasn't a lie was about my father. The most prolific murderer in history. The memories were implanted by the scientists to make me feel normal. You know. So as not to make me feel like a monster. But you know, when you were engineered as the perfect being, things don't exactly happen like that. You don't have a wife. You don't have a daughter. You escape the labs, and then you save lives. But then, you must realize that there must be balance. Some must die so that others may live."

"Wow...so...when you said that you wanted to protect the world from people like you, you meant-"

"Gods and monsters, Shelly."

"Which one are you?"

Another sigh escaped his lips.

"A bit of both."

"...but you seem human enough to me, DW..."

He smirked.

"...it's James."

But he was far from human.
