Momento - JACK - 09-27-2014 Kendall... ...you're not the only one who depends on the bottles to get through the day. You are also not the only one with family issues that can't be resolved. So why exactly are you the only one that matters? Is it because you pride yourself with your intelligence to get out of crises? A smart person wouldn't depend on Samuel Adams or Jack Daniels to solve their problems. But then again, I'm sure that even the most intelligent of people suffer from what the world throws at them too. Take Einstein, for example. He was jewish and born in the most unfortunate time of human history. You should already know what it is. That is, unless the spaceman is fucking with your mind just as badly as the alcohol is. We want you to know that you're not alone in this homicidal, oppressive world. However, you're probably the only one that we have to knock sense into, at least at the moment. Maybe this match could be enough of a wake up call to realize that you just might be one of the million people that you insult everyday over television. Maybe then you'll realize that you're not so different from us... ...all seven billion of us. Caleb is walking through his neighborhood with his small dalmatian puppy, name unknown. He is still shaken from the scene with his dad found dead in the shower not too long ago. His eyes are bloodshot and wide open, looking dry as all hell from all of the nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, and whatever the hell else might have penetrated his eyeballs. He looks down at his companion, who is busy just panting away and looking happy all the while. This gets a small smile out of him as he takes a knee and scratches the dog's head. It responds by wagging its tail and licking her owner's hand. Caleb: Aw, it's okay, Angie, I'm sure we can handle anything life throws at us as long as we just stick together. That's the philosophy that I'm sticking with, anyways. Angie barks with delight as her owner tells her this and seems more eager to continue along the road. He gets off the ground and happily obliges his pet's wishes, gaining confidence the more he follows her. He continues walking with her for a while before taking a quick look at the photo of his family that he stored in his pocket. His father is smiling as he has his arm wrapped around his mother and a hand right on Caleb's head. He takes a long look at it, since this is probably the only way he'll be able to see his mother and father in one place. It is possibly the only time he gets to see his father happy about something involving his family before he started blaming himself for driving into a large semi-truck that completely totaled the family car. His father started drinking after the events, not just because he was grieving over the loss of his one and only, but also because she was pregnant at the time, creating two fatalities on his hands. Caleb, with tear ducts all dried out, puts the photo back into his pocket and sits down on the sidewalk. Angie follows suit. Caleb just so happened to stop nearby an old, rickety household where a man looks at him directly through the window, his eyes burning with hatred. Now that Caleb is sitting on his front lawn, the man storms out of his house, grabbing a shotgun as he does so. ???: Get out of my yard, you ![]() Caleb stands up, hearing the man's voice sent goosebumps running down his skin. He turns around to face the man with a lethal weapon, making him take a couple steps back, fearing that he might shoot either him or Angie with it. His dog takes a defensive stance, ready to protect her owner at any cost. Caleb: Please sir, put the gun down. I don't want to cause any trouble, alright? ???: You've caused enough trouble already, you know that? You were sitting in front of my lawn! Now all of the people in this town think I'm some kind of ![]() Caleb raises an eyebrow out of confusion. Caleb: Dude, I didn't even step on your lawn! All I did was sit down on your sidewalk! ???: Oh, don't act like you're all sweet and innocent with me! You've tainted my reputation! Caleb: I didn't taint anything! You just saw me sit on your sidewalk and pulled out that gun on me! I don't understand what you mean ei- The man fires a warning shot, causing Caleb and Angie to duck. The bullet hits a neighbor's clay pot from across the road. Caleb looks back up at the aggressive man who is in no mood to compromise. He takes a couple steps back while his pet stays exactly where she is. ???: I already had to deal with three other thong wearing boys already who said the exact same shit to me! You're just lucky I'm in a good mood or else I would've blown your head clean off! Caleb: Look man, I really don't want to upset you, so I'm sorry for whatever it is you think I've done, alright? Just put the gun down and- ???: Apologizing will get you nowhere, you hear me, ![]() The man moves a little closer to Caleb, shotgun still pointed high. ???: Two have already passed. Since the man is so damn close to Angie, she lunges at him with a snarl. She manages to bite the man's left leg, making him scream out in pain. He tries to kick her off, but to no avail as she tightens her grip on his leg. During this commotion, Caleb manages to take a good look at the name tag on his auto mechanic's uniform. The man's name is "Hector Samson", the worst mechanic in town. Just then, another gunshot rings out; this one hits Angie in the cranium, killing her. Caleb looks down at the corpse of the only other surviving member, seemingly frozen in place as he hears her yelp one last time. Hector points his gun at Caleb again, the barrel right between his eyes. Hector: I'm sorry about that, boy, looks like your little friend there took up the rest of the time you had left. You should have ran when you had the chance. Now it looks like I have to ruin my lawn with your useless blood as we- Caleb is still frozen, unable to move any muscle off of the corpse of his canine companion. However, Hector sees a bandaged man looming right behind him. His lips are quivering as he takes a few steps backwards. However, the mummy doesn't wait as he shoves Caleb aside and rushes toward Hector. He tries to turn around and run back into his house, but a knife pierces him through his neck, killing him instantly. Caleb, awake from his trance, gets to his knees and crawls towards his dead friend. The murderer, seeing this, moves towards Caleb slowly, trying not to frighten him any more than he might have already. Caleb rips Angie's collar off of her neck, setting aside on the grass. He then hugs her for one last time, sobbing as he holds her tightly. Jack: You've lost a lot in your life; I can tell by the way you're clutching that corpse there. Caleb, still sobbing, looks up at the strange man. However, he can't respond to what the man said. Even if he could respond, he'd be too choked up to say anything coherently. Not wanting to see the boy cry over a dead dog, the stranger offers a hand to help him stand up. Jack: Stand up and follow me. I have a few friends that know what to do in situations like this. Not having any other choice, Caleb takes the man's hand, lifting him up to his feet with ease. He is handed the dog's collar, which he takes without hesitation. Neither of them speak as they walk away from the camera's field of vision. With that, the scene fades out. |
