Signatures - "Loverboy" Vinnie Lane - 02-10-2014

I've noticed that as we move forward, more and more people are getting longer and longer signatures. When I say LONG I mean the distance physically from the top of your sig to the bottom of your sig.

Your banners can be as wide as you want because the boards will shrink them automatically in posts so the posts don't get distorted BUT when people start stacking banner on top of banner on top of banner, it makes people have to scroll too much to get past your signature. If you reply in the same thread several times, that's a hell of a lot of signature people have to try and ignore.

So, without me making a specific ruling by number/measurement, I'd like you guys to just start shortening your signatures.

Any questions, or if you want me to tell you if your sig is fine, reply here.

This also applies if it's a lot of text or formatting that is making your sig physically long from top to bottom. I'm not just referring to pictures.

It's even longer than mine and mine is already too long! lol

Yours is about a long as they should get, so it's fine. I'm not a huge fan of the animated name graphic just because I know some people have slower connections/computers and have trouble when animated pics are trying to load.

The way to think of your signatures is to ask yourself, "how would it be if everybody did what I'm doing?" ...and then imagine yourself looking through threads where every single person has the same type of thing you have. If you have a big pic, plus an animated gif, plus other things... imagine going through a 50+ reply thread where EVERY person also has those things. Pages will start loading slower, the page will "jump" out of place while you're reading as more pics load up and take their full size, etc...

Plus it looks tacky

RE: Signatures - Peter Fn Gilmour - 02-10-2014

so should I take the name sig out?

It's up to you, but I'm just saying if you leave it, don't ever go past that and add more stuff... ok? Of all the things you could put in your sig, or mention about your character, et.... are you SURE you want a glowing picture of your wrestler's name (which we already know) to be taking up the first part? I guess I see it as pointless, but if YOU value it being there, then it's fine...

RE: Signatures - Peter Fn Gilmour - 02-10-2014

to be honest i put it there cuz it was cool. ill take it out later tonight cuz i dont feel like having it anymore

RE: Signatures - Christine Nash - 02-10-2014

What about having the video in the Sig. Should I take it out and just leave the banner?

Why not shrink the banner and then put the picture and video side by side? You could still have both that way, and they wouldn't make the signature be longer than some people's computer screens. lol

Here is one way that might work well in a sig...

Code:
<img src="YourBannerURLhere" width="350px" align="right"><iframe width="300" height="225" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/1SNRGtOYso0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The result, after you put your own picture URL into the quoted spot for it above (keep the quotes around the url) is this:

RE: Signatures - Christine Nash - 02-10-2014

Is this any better?

Signatures - "Loverboy" Vinnie Lane - 02-10-2014

Looks good to me. It's funny that the right alignment of the pic is making the like button be right next to her on my screen. lol (on the blue layout)

RE: Signatures - Morbid Angel - 02-10-2014

how can I put all my wins in here? I might have to take some out lol

Good question! Here's what a lot of people have done in the past. You can search online for more advanced colors/methods too...

Code:
<select>
<option>All My Wins!</option>
<option>Cyren</option>
<option>raYne</option>
<option>JP Corino</option>
<option>Blacklisted Sore Loser</option>
</select>

The code live looks like this:

Signatures - Morbid Angel - 02-10-2014

you calling me a sore loser?

Signatures - "Loverboy" Vinnie Lane - 02-10-2014

No it's the official nickname of a sore loser from about a year ago or so... lol

Signatures - Wyatt Reynolds - 02-10-2014

Now I must figure out some way to incorporate everything I want...

Thanks Shane...

You bastard!

Signatures - Theo Pryce - 02-10-2014

No way was Shane talking about you Wyatt. No way at all. Your sig is perfectly acceptable.

Signatures - Sid Feder - 02-10-2014

This gives me an idea -- Can I make a sig with giant glowing text that jumps out of the signature box and takes over the whole screen no matter where you look?

RE: Signatures - Caliban - 02-11-2014

How can you be a 2 time UFO champion and say you never lost? lol thought Id tag this on while making sure Im all good on the sig front

Signatures - Neonero - 02-11-2014

This is pretty much why I decided against using the gif sig I made in the bitch session, although I really like it I know I would be sick of scrolling past it after a few times, nevermind everyone else. XWF isnt myspace yo.
