.:: He may be only one and one since his X-treme Wrestling Federation debut, but Shawn Steele has been nothing short of impressive. According to some. According to others, maybe most others, all he’s accomplished is managing to win a Battle Royal over a group of relative unknowns. Really more of a toss up than an actual match. He followed that up by losing to John Austin, a match Shawn Steele feels he should have won. Handily. But he didn’t. And he’s embarrassed about that. He’d never admit to that, obviously, but deep down, it’s been eating him up inside. For the two weeks since that loss in London, he’s been silent. His anger allowed to fester and grow. Intensify. But now, through a pure stroke of luck, or maybe the brilliance of Madness General Manager Paul Heyman, Shawn Steele has almost the perfect bullseye for which to target all of that anger. That brewing hatred. With John Austin having moved on into the picture for the XWF European Championship, he has no reason to step back into the ring with Shawn Steele. But he will. Because Paul Heyman has seen fit to put Shawn into that XWF ring with Ricky Desmond, leader of The Connection. The same group that counts John Austin, the “King of Wrestling”, amongst it’s members.

Shawn Steele, a man once lost, simply left to float among the thoughts of his own failure, has been found. His listless boat has been righted and pointed in the direction of The Connection. One man set to take on an entire force of nature. His kind of odds.

As we begin we see the face of Shawn Steele, for the first time since his loss to John Austin at Leap of Faith in England. Surprisingly a wide smile adorns his face and, if you look closely enough, you’d swear you see a sparkle in his eye. Though that could be as a result of the massive amounts of sweat that is pouring down his face, dripping from his nose and jaw. Slowly as we begin to pull away, we see that Shawn is standing, again, in the middle of the ring in the run down old style gym that we’ve seen before. Only this time, he’s not alone. Instead, there’s a sea of bodies lining the ring. Half a dozen beaten and battered bodies, all moving just slightly and groaning in agony. Looking down, glimpsing momentarily at the fallen bodies, Shawn chuckles before looking back up.

Shawn Steele: You’ll have to excuse my absence. I’ve been a little busy getting ready. Ready for what .. well that much I didn’t know. Not until now. Now that Paul Heyman has given me the greatest gift I’ve been handed since I was a child on Christmas morning. I’ll have to have Miss Beasley send Mr. Heyman a thank you note for his generosity. I get the feeling this gift will provide me even more times of enjoyment than that Super Nintendo ever did. This .. this is going to be fun.

Looking down at the mat, Shawn steps over a couple of the fallen bodies before climbing through the ropes and jumping down out of the ring, grabbing a bottle of water and a towel that was on the ring apron. Wiping his face before tossing it away, Shawn returns his attention to the camera.

Shawn Steele: What happened at Leap of Faith .. that wasn’t a fluke. Any given man can lose on any given night. Saturday night in London was just my given night to taste defeat. But mark my words, John Austin, that’s the last good night you’re going to have at my expense. Now I know you’ve been riding high, Johnny. Defeating Shawn Steele. Almost winning the XWF European Championship. Getting paid to join The Connection. You’ve been a busy man.

Unscrewing the cap on the water, Shawn proceeds to down the entire bottle before tossing it aside to continue.

Shawn Steele: A busy man who’s riding at. At the top of the ranks on Madness. Little did you realize at the time, but that moment in London, when the referee’s hand hit the mat for the third and final time, that’s when the ending of your story began. Because your entire world is about to come crashing down around you. I’ll admit it, John. I want my revenge. And I shall get it. I was going to ask Paul Heyman for a rematch. Hell, I was prepared to beg for it. Little does Paul Heyman know it yet, but he’s gone and done it one better. Leave it up to the mad genius himself to strike gold, without even knowing it. And that ...

Turning a corner, Shawn heads into a locker room, continuing to talk.

Shawn Steele: Brings me to you, Ricky Desmond. I actually have a lot of respect for you, Richard. Or at least I did. I’ve been watching you since you signed with the X-treme Wrestling Federation, and it seemed like you had promise. I’ve had my dealings with businessmen before, and you seemed like a bright one. And that made me assume that you’re a hell of a talent inside of that ring. You don’t need the money this business provides, so you’re clearly in this profession for a different reason. I can only assume that’s for the challenge. I can respect that. But what you did at Leap of Faith .. that I don’t understand. Help me to understand, Ricky. See, putting together a group of the biggest and the best to surround yourself with. To quicken your pace to the top of this company. That .. that I understand. Hell, I even understand getting Andrew Morrison to join. And John Austin? Well that makes perfect sense. What doesn’t make sense to me, is the fact that you didn’t approach me. True, I would have told you to go fuck yourself, but you had no way of knowing that. So I have to wonder. Why didn’t you want Shawn Steele as part of your little group?

Sitting on the bench in the locker room, Shawn leans over and begins untying his wrestling boots, continuing.

Shawn Steele: I’m only coming up with one reason, Ricky. You’re afraid of me. And you should be. Because your little group, your Connection, I’m going destroy it. Piece. By piece. By piece. The order may be a little odd, seeing as how I’m starting with the leader of this little group, but you can thank Paul Heyman for that. Because I’m going to start at the top and work my way through your ranks. And I’m not going to stop until I get what I want. And what I want, is my revenge. And that means John Austin. You’d better hope I dispatch of him quickly so that you can keep the rest of your little Connection intact. Because I’m a man on a mission Desmond. And right now, you’re standing in my way. That’s a fucking dangerous place to be. You’re a smart man Ricky. Do the right thing.

Setting his now untied boots aside, Shawn stands and begins to head towards the showers as the scene begins to fade away.
