Backastage at the Nationwide Arena
Columbus, Ohio

Steve Sayors-
Okay, guys.

XWF reporter Steve Sayors is standing backstage with a camera crew.

Steve Sayors-
This guy is really hard to catch up to... And it seems like he disappears between events. So, here's our chance! A one on one with the Doctor!

Doctor Louis D'Ville was just victorious in the battle royal to name the #1 Contender for the XWF Television Title. After outlasting eleven other competitors, the Doctor stands alone in the ring straring down the current champion, Gator, as he leaves the arena.

Steve Sayors-
Okay Gator is leaving. So after the Doc comes backstage, we grab him.[/b]

Steve Sayors waits several minutes and notices on the monitor the next match is starting, with no sign of Doctor D'Ville.

Steve Sayors-
Where IS he? He should've come out by now. Has anyone seen him come out.

No one seems to be paying to much attention to the reporter at the moment. Across the large backstage area, Steve see's someone a bit bloodied walking away from the crowd of people. He cuts around the corner and is gone. Steve signals the camera crew to follow him as he begins jogging that way.

Steve Sayors-
I seen him! Was that him?! Come on, we'll find out!

The reporter and his crew make their way quickly over to the corridor where Steve thought he may have seen the Doctor. Steve turns to the camera and runs somewhat backwards. He moves his one finger in a circular motion in the air to signal the cameraman to begin filming.

Steve Sayors-
Ladies and gentleman! Steve Sayors of the XWF here, backstage at the Nationwide Arena at Monday Night Madness! We're making our way through this hallway, trying to catch the first word with the Doctor, Louis D'Ville! A man victorious in battle royals two weeks in a--

The reporter, not paying attention to what was in front of him, trips over a large crate and topples over it. Landing on his head on the hard floor knocks him out cold and the chance for him to get the one and only interview with the Doctor is over. Or is it. . .?

The reporter wakes up face down in the dirt. He spits some from his mouth and quickly pulls himself to his feet. He looks around and he is no long backstage in the Nationwide Arena. He's alone, with no camera crew, standing in the middle of a vast green field. About 50 yards away from him he sees a small, odd looking cottage. It looks as out of place as he feels. Taking a gulp, he slowly walks through the high grass towards the cottage.

The world around him seems endless. All the reporter can hear is the wind blowing across the field, whistling a plaintive melody of its own for the trees surrounding the field to sway back and forth. As the reporter approaches the small cottage, he just barely catches a smell of something burning. He climbs the stairs onto the porch and looks around once more. A wooden screen door swings open and slams shut from the strong breeze. He catches it and walks into the building.

Inside, the scenery is very different from what you would expect from the outside. A large single room with several book shelves, mounted taxidermy, and a giant fireplace just barely smoldering. The odor that the reporter noticed from the outside is more potent now and clogs the air. He walks across the creaky floor into the room and walks to the desk on the far side. He sits in the leather chair facing the desk and leans back. The fireplace ignites and blasts alive with a loud roar startling the reporter. When he opens his eyes a man is seated behind the desk. A small glass filled half full of scotch and a cigar burning in an ashtray lie on the desk in front of him.

Steve Sayors-
Doctor.

Doctor D'Ville-
Hello Steven. And what troubles you, my friend, that you've come to see me today?

Steve Sayors-
Um, well. I'm a bit confused right now.

Doctor D'Ville-
Not an uncommon reason to be here, Steven. Many of the patients whom visit share similar symptoms. Confusion being a major one.

Steve Sayors-
It's not that, Doctor... I was just backstage waiting for you to come back and I woke up here. Am I... Dreaming?

Doctor D'Ville-
Waiting for me backstage as you were will serve no avail. My doors are always open, my friend. However, my sessions belong behind closed doors. You were searching for me and you have found me.

Steve Sayors-
Wh-... Where's my camera crew?

The Doctor takes a sip from his glass and places it back on the desk. He reaches into a drawer beside him and pulls out a small tape recorder. Setting it between them, he presses the red record button.

Doctor D'Ville-
Unnecessary. If our session must be recorded, I will do the honors. Now, what is it that really brings you, Steven. Why were you searching for me?

Ben takes a deep breathe and wipes a bit of sweat from his brow.

Steve Sayors-
Well, Doctor. No one in the XWF has really had a chance to sit down with you and get to hear your story. You've been here for nearly three weeks and you've been victorious in two different battle royals. You have two title shots in the future, one to be announced and the other for the XWF Television Title. Your thoughts please.

Doctor D'Ville-
Steven, my friend, I am humbled by the opportunites that have been created for me in my short time here. When I first arrived I stated that titles and wins mean nothing to me. I am here for the people. I am here for the treaments. I am here to cure. You may be unaware of this, but most of the XWF roster suffer from severe mental illness. Although my treatments have started, to break any ground we will need more time and more sessions. The two I've been involved with already, the two 12-Man Battle Royals. Between them I have seen twenty-two patients. All of which, should now know what I am capable of. Should know. It seems a few competitors still fail to see.

Steve Sayors-
I suppose you mean. . .

Doctor D'Ville-
Well there are two that come to mind. First, my dearest friend, Luke Gunnar. Still bitter, I see? You just couldn't stay away could you, my friend? Trust me, I am just as disappointed that our sessions could not continue following our battle royal. Sadly, you are still in much need of my treatments. You hide under a hooded shirt and walk around aimlessly through the shadows, popping your head up in places you have no business. Your efforts to thwart me were impressive but unsuccessful. Thinking you and Mr. Harrison were on the same page was a mistake. He is far different from the likes of you. This war against the unworthy and takers you claim you are fighting is an illusion. I've taken nothing from you, my friend. Well, maybe a bit of pride. But you don't seem to be the proud type. Even after YOUR two victorious you continue to be humble. Do you not recognize your achievements? No, your focus is elsewhere. Showing up in Columbus two days before your match in South Korea... Where is your head? Certainly not above your elbows. Granted, you won your match after a bit of a circus. But an attempt to get my attention could be as simple as a phone call, my friend. Why risk missing your match? Please know, I haven't taken my eyes off of you yet. Yet you lurke and the shadows and show up for a session without an appointment. Who is the one that's hiding? Certainly not I. Who is avoiding who? Hm. I am quite easy to find, Luke. My doors and ears are always open. If you truely wish to find me, you will. And if you stop looking, I'll find you after I win the Television Title. If I am unworthy, Luke, show me someone who is.

The Doctor takes a long drag from his cigar. The reporter continues to sit quietly as he continues.

Doctor D'Ville-
As I said, Luke Gunnars efforts could only go so far. He left it up to another one of my patients to remove me from the match and it failed. LH Harrison you seem to be everything but inspired. Unless it was the inspiration that had you exit the ring in such a fashion. Your boy scout ethics and honesty have led you nowhere, my friend. Your falling backwards with no one to catch you. With another big match coming Monday, you must catch yourself. You are right to speculate that a victory in this match could lead to great things for you. Three top competitors in the XWF and yourself. One, as a matter of fact, a future patient of mine. The soon to be former XWF Television Champion and former X-treme Champion, GATOR! How excited I am for us to meet, Mr. Gator. You are surely my next greatest patient. Your history in this business and the dangers you've faced. The issues you have with your father. Your addictions. I only wish our sessions could begin sooner, my friend. My treatments will cure your mind and I will rid you of those two burdens you carry over your shoulders.

The Doctor takes one last puff from his cigar before he snuffs it out. Taking a drink he raises is eye brows as the reporter speaks.

Steve Sayors-
Very impressive, within your first month you have a chance to hold three title belts at once. Moving on, Doctor. Your match coming this Monday in Los Angeles, a triple tag team match that has you teamed with Kristen Silver and Socrates. This will be the first encounter you've had with Socrates, yet, the third week in a row in a match with Kristen. You're just on the same side now.

Doctor D'Ville-
Aha! My dear, dear Ms. Silver. It seems we just cannot get enough of each other, can we? Yes, Steven, for the third week in a row Kristen and I will be in the same ring. Only this time, we will have to share it! After our two sessions before hand I'm sure there is a question of trust. Can you trust me, Ms. Silver? Have you ever NOT trusted me? I trust that no matter who my two comrads are in this match that the results should not differ.

Steve Sayors-
The three men you face, Tony Santos, Chris Fame, and Cain. Two former champions in Santos and Cain. And a man you're already familiar with, Chris Fame. Cain has already made himself known in this match. Doctor?

Doctor D'Ville-
Mister Cain. Hello, my friend. Hmm. Let me start off first by saying you're the biggest cry for help I have encountered yet. You make Luke Gunnar seem like care bear. That's sad. Without saying and breaking my code, Luke Gunnar actually has issues. You on the other hand, I see nothing. This image you give yourself as a serial killer and psychopath. A villain in a cheap action thriller in search of a hero to put a stop to his madness. My, my... As a perfect judge of character I would say your previous therapy sessions weren't as unsuccessful as you just giving up. I am sure things will be different for you this time around. I don't accept quitters, my friend. You now have a chance to be cured from those things you claim drive you mad. I am no hero. I am no arch nemisis, but I am a friend. I am sorry if you fail to recognize me for what I am. And it seems you've already recognized five enemies in this match we're in. Two on your side and three on my side. I'm sure you have good reason but I believe you've missed the point. If you're familiar with my work inside the ring, I'm sure you can tell I don't play well with others neither. But I never back myself into a corner. You've done just that, Mister Cain.

After the Doctor finishes speaking, the reporter thanks him for his time and stands up. Looking around the room he remembers where he is. Well, he doesn't know where he is. He begins walking towards the door and turns around. Everything in the room, including the Doctor, has disappeared. The reporter begins to get a little nervous and reaches for the door. The door knob is stuck and cannot be turned. He begins pulling very hard on it as the small abandoned house begins to shake. The floor boards rattle and parts of the walls and dust begin falling from all over. The house was coming down.

Voice-
Steve! Steeeve! Wake up!!

Several people stand over Steve Sayors watching one from his cameramen try to revive him. Steve lies on his back on the floor and springs up nearly headbutting the other man in the nose.

Man-
You clumsy asshole. Watch where you're going! Good luck finding that Doctor for an interview now...
