An excerpt from the diary of Tera Vincent:

"Conceived by force by a stranger in passing,
a premonition that perhaps misery would be everlasting,
a mother who saw me as a mistake and her greatest shame,
a stepfather who saw me as a toy for his sexual games,
punished for years for my very existence,
so little I could do in terms of resistance,
I begged and pleaded and prayed for an end of my pain,
but all I saw when I looked toward the sky was rain..."

"Then, the night came when it was too much,
he came after me to rape me and to take the little innocence left in me,
that is when I had had enough, I stabbed him with a knife in his knee,
I told him to go to hell and I ran away to the streets..."

"I thought that then I would finally find peace,
I found nothing but the nothing I felt inside of my soul,
I had nothing in my possession and nowhere to go,
the nights were cold and dark just as my soul was becoming,
a place I truly belonged was what I was longing,
I thought I had found it with one that saw me in the dirt,
he told me I was beautiful and that it wouldn't hurt,
I fell for his trap and I fell for his lies,
he wouldn't let me go, despite all of my cries,
I cried for somebody to save me and take me away,
afterwards, I lost hope with each passing day..."

"One stormy winter night, I laid freezing to death,
with every sniffle, I hoped for my last breath,
until out of the corner of the darkness and the corner of my eye,
I saw a man who came to kneel by my side,
he told me he would help and I almost resisted,
until I looked into his eyes and saw that a passion existed,
he was sincere, a man of his word, he took me into his arms, he was so warm
I knew then I was being carried away by a storm..."

"That night, my life changed forever and for eternity,
he gave me shelter and food, he was the one who saved me,
he lends me his ear, he listens and hangs on every word,
he gives me more love than I have ever deserved,
I thought I knew what I believed in at first,
until my life, instead of better became worse,
that was until the night that he saved me from demise..."

"It is of this, I believe his word and stay by his side,
together, we shall cut through this unforgiving world like a knife,
Andrew Morrison, the storm, the man who saved me, the savior of my life..."
