It was dark, cold and I was starving. I knew what Zak and Niva were trying to do but if they thought they could win like this...they had another thing coming. Everyday I felt myself grow weaker. It was hard standing sometimes but I still tried to break the cell. I looked down at my hands and sighed. If my hands looked this bad, I didn't want to know how bad the rest of my body looked.

"Mommie?"

Mackenzie's soft footsteps made me look at the stairs.

"Hey baby..."

My voice cracked from lack of use but Mackenzie still smiled.

"Can I sleep down here? Lila keeps kicking me and I had a bad dream."

I nodded and watched as he moved to the cot Nova and Zak had been using whenever one of them tried to break me.

"Are you evil?"

"Sometimes."

"Am I evil?"

I smiled softly, "Do you want to be?"

"I don't know...It looks scary."

"Mackenzie, you are part vampire. Your grandfather is a very dark man. You have evil in your blood. It's the nature of the beast and sometimes...we aren't strong enough to hold it back."

"So...when I'm bigger, I get to be strong and dark and evil?"

I nodded and he looked down for a minute before looking back up with a smile, "I think that's okay. Madyson will be evil too...Daddy can't stop her from what is our blood. I get to play with my sister again."

The door to Nova's lab opened again and I growled, the shadow wasn't someone I had seen in these few weeks nor had I even believed they were brave enough to approach me again.

"You're either very brave, very stupid or very bored."

Mackenzie knew that he shouldn't be down here when I got like this so he took off upstairs with the promise of visiting again. The shadow turned to watch him vanish around the corner before they spoke.

"Well those phrases were never used to describe me before. Glad to see you haven't lost your rapier wit, Micah."

Damien looked at her.

"Pardon me, but I'm not the one caged like a rabid animal."

I glared at him before scratching at the box, "Don't remind me."

Humor flashed in his eyes and I growled again, "Did you come to taunt? Come to give me a lecture on how biting and killing is bad?"

I crawled over to the corner of the box that was closest to him, "Why are you here?"

"I'm about to go to England. Your brother asked me to do something."

He looked at her.

"No Micah, I'm not here to taunt you."

Wait...Damien is doing something for my brother? Did hell freeze over?

"You...doing a favor for Zak? Why? What did he ask?"

Damien took a step closer, his eyes scanning my face.

"Am I really that bad looking?"

"No. You've just lost your way. That's all."

He looked at her.

"It happens to all of us in time. He asked me to go check on something. I can't tell you what just yet. But I promise, you'll see me again."

"I don't think I'll find a way back. It was kinda nice living in the madness. Causing blood to flow and hearing the screams. Now, I'm just a weak, starving vampire trapped in a cage."

Sighing, I placed a hand on the cool crystal, "Why did you agree? You've always hated him and do you mind staying for a bit? It'll be nice to talk to someone who's not trying to torture me or under the age of ten."

"I have my own reasons for doing it. Reasons that in time will be known. For now, just rest assured that someone has your best interest in mind."

Damien sits down next to the crystal box.

"It's true that he and I don't get along, that's no secret. I dislike him for what he did to Ally. But he asked me to do something I can't refuse."

"Why can't you?"

Damien chuckled, "I can't tell you."

I pouted and laid against the wall closest to him.

"Can I get a hint?"

He laughed again and I smiled, "Pwease? I'll do anything to pay you back once I get out of this thing."

The sounds of footsteps echoed and finally the door opened.

I walked in and saw Micah In a cage and Damien Sitting down.

Damien... I would like to talk to my wife if you don't mind.

I stared at Michael, shocked he even showed up...and right when I was just about to show him what I really looked like. Not that it mattered, he would think I was dead like the others who only knew of this face. He would never believe me once I come back.

Damien stood, his eyes narrowing in a glare at Michael. I still didn't know what Zak had asked of Damien but he said he would be seeing me soon...maybe...no...Zak would never risk that. We both watched as Damien walked back upstairs, his soft voice floating downstairs along with Zak's. Both were muffled by the distance and the box but they were getting along...Yep. Hell froze over.
