Punk is the guy with the Drug Free thing on his knuckles, Cena is the rapper, Undertaker(if he is still around) is the ominous guy with the druids, Triple H, if he is still around has Motorhead as the artist of his theme song(best time to like Triple H was during the group Evolution) HBK(retired) probably doesn't even appear anymore was my favorite wrestler, and one of the few that doesn't do roids(or didn't do them) and that is the only that I showed any interest in during the Laurinitas era, which again was shitty top 10 all time favs are in order

1:HBK
2: Randy Orton
3:John Cena (before 2006)
4:Triple H

Yeah, that list is missing a few names and is ordered weird. Randy is talented and all, but I wouldn't rank him above any of those guys.

My top ten...

1 Steve Austin
2 Hulk Hogan
3 Undertaker
4 Rock
5 Shawn Michaels
6 Bret Hart
7 Ric Flair
8 Kurt Angle
9 Sting
10 John Cena

IMO these are the guys who have done it all, had great matches, and remained popular as fuck over the years.

It depends on how you look at things. There's a case to be made for every era of wrestling. If you want to look at personal favorites then I'll give you my top ten. Oh, and by the way, sorry to burst your bubble but Shawn Michaels WAS NOT the goody goody you think he was. I can't say anything about 2002 on, but previous to his return in '02, Shawn Michaels was a basket case. He was on steroids just like just about everyone at that time, and he also loved dem little pills.

Anyhow, my top ten favorites all time:

1: Shawn Michaels... the greatest in-ring performer I've ever seen.
2: Randy Savage... great performer, great on the mic.
3: The Undertaker... Even when I was a youngster and hated wrestling because it was fake, THIS GUY brought me into the living room when I heard his music.
4: Ric Flair... Can't say enough about vintage Ric Flair.
5: Curt Hennig/Mr. Perfect... Not bad on the mic and a great mat technician.
6: Bret "Me Man" Hart... Even though he's his own biggest fan, I have much love for the man.
7: Owen Hart... Probably one of the more under-rated and underutilized talents in the history of the business...
8: Steve Austin... One of the greatest brawlers ever, yet when it came down to it, he was a great mat wrestler also.
9: Brian Pillman... See Owen Hart. There's no doubt in my mind that had he lived longer, he would have been WWF/E Champion multiple times.
10: CM Punk... If they'd keep him heel and release the muzzle, there is no telling what heights he could soar to. See the famous worked shoot and the summer and fall of 2011. Wildly popular.

That's because what I am getting from is you just started watching wrestling, most of the guy's we just named off are either died before they were done/or after, or are retired, HBK I think is actually probably the most recent to JUST retire, and yeah, I know he was caught with them in 1993 and didn't return until 94, but as far as I can tell he was clean after that, it is a shame they didn't have him win anymore WWE or World Heavyweight titles after 2002's Survivor Series, and that reign only lasted a month.

Damn Triple H, had to always be the one in the spotlight

Shawn Michaels was on drugs hardcore until late 2001, early 2002. I think he talked about it in his DVD, which is damn good if you haven't watched it.

Also, Shawn didn't win more titles because he didn't want them. He was, for the most part, a changed man when he returned. Titles meant nothing. He just wanted to do what he did best. Make the fans happy that they came to see him.

I'm doing 2 lists:

People who I think have been the best since I started watching:

1. Stone Cold - need I say more?
2. Ric Flair - hate that he went to TNA, but so much love.
3. HBK - best in ring performer
4. John Cena - this ones gunna hurt people, denying what Cena has accomplished would be ludicrous. I don't enjoy his character that much but respect may be shown.
5. Edge - every time I heard his music I marked out.
6. The Undertaker
7. Kane
8. The Rock
9. CM Punk
10. JBL

Now my personal faves.
1. Carlito - always has been always will.
2. JBL
3. Edge
4. William Regal
5. Kane8
6. Goldust
7. Booker T
8. CM Punk
9. Daniel Bryan
10. HBK

WWE had to compete with WCW in a massive ratings war. Vince McMahon was losing talent and viewers because the millionaire Ted Turner owned WCW AND the network it was broadcast on. He used his financial advantage against Vince to make WCW a top wrestling television program by cutting into WWE's market and 'buying' a lot of Vince's upcoming talent. The biggest example is obviously Hulk Hogan but their are many others.

It's known as the 'Attitude Era' in WWE.' In order to seperate and put his 'brand' ahead of the competition, Vince McMahon knew he had to create ways to reach out to a wider audience. The era was marked by a shift to more adult-oriented programming content, which was accomplished in a number of different ways; including an increase in the level of depicted violence and the incorporation of sexually suggestive, horrific, or otherwise politically incorrect characters and storylines created for shock value.

Ya I was reading a little about the ratings war, the NWO was the big force in WCW, the only two I recognize from that is the Razor Ramone and Diesel guy I remember them wrestling when I was younger. Had a foster brother that was really into it and I do remember those two.

And just to add to that, some would say WWE stole their "attitude" from the original ECW, depending on who you ask of course. By the way, the rise and fall of ECW was the best WWE DVD's I've seen. You should definitely check out some ECW stuff on youtube.

DX's most successful years were during the attitude era, as sad as it is, HBK's back injury left him out of most of D-X, it is not far off from the attitude era if you watch their 2006 stuff in 06, but yeah, after the attitude era wwe slowly reverted back to being a "Family Program" The two most historic events of the early attitude era, are Bret Hart defeating Undertaker at Summer slam 97, and the MOST famous would be the Montreal Screwjob, in which according to Bret he was suppose to win that match due to preagreement by Vince, however in fear that Bret wouldn't follow through with his end, he gave HBK the win at Survivor Series 97, this was Bret's last match regardless of how it turned out in WWF, look Rock funny moments 1999
