This was one day I wanted to forget. Michael left, Ally was taken hostage by Duke...Griffin was still in the hospital last I knew and it was just a shitty birthday. Zak had taken Madyson and Mackenzie to the apartment he and Nova shared to let me have time to myself. It was nice knowing Lila and my twins had taken a liking to each other.

I had just stepped out of my jeans and crawled into bed when the bell rang. I didn't know who would show up this late but I pulled my blanket around me and headed downstairs, a gasp escaping my lips once I looked through the peephole.

"No fucking way..."

I opened the door, my eyes locking with the one man I hadn't seen in years...

"Damien?"

"Micah."

Damien stood at the door.

"I think you know why I am here."

I stepped aside and let him in. My eyes stealing a glance at his ass. Damn...the kid really filled out those jeans.

"Uh...yeah...Ally's vanishing act."

"It was no-"

"Yeah I know. It's not hard to figure out but as much as I want to help, I can't. This is Griffin's fight and until and if he asks for it, I'm not helping."

I moved towards the stairs but gasped when he grabbed my wrist, stopping me just story of the second step.

"When did you start bailing on Alexis?"

Damien looked at her.

"I thought you were her best friend."

"I am but I also know your sister. I've been in her head and in his. He's just as stubborn as she is and I know if we both jumped the gun and tracked her down...it would just make it worse."

Damn that look...fucking fuck.

"I love Lexi but I'm not about to get shot for doing the job of someone else."

I pulled my wrist back but caught my foot on the blanket, stumbling back just as Damien grabbed what he thought was my arm. I landed on my butt on the stairs, groaning slightly in pain as Damien held the blanket.

"So who is this Griffin guy? I mean she told me she had a new man. She told me about how he's great to her and stuff. But I couldn't point him of out a crowd."

Damien glared at her. What was this girl attempting to do? Seduce him. Not going to work right now. His sister was missing. There was no way he could be happy right now.

"Sorry."

He handed her back the blanket and sat down on the bottom step.

"Look, I just want to make sure my sisters okay."

"She's fine...a little stressed out but fine. Duke won't hurt her ... Scare her but I doubt he's so far gone that he would hurt her. She's not weak, Damien."

I took the blanket and covered myself back up, "Griffin is a redneck. He stands out when he tries to blend in. He's got a no bullshit mentality and he was the one who got his ass handed to him in the ring."

I moved down next to him, sighing softly as I put my hand on his knee.

"Look, she'll be fine and we can't really do anything until Griffin asks. This isn't our fight and as much as I want to track their scents, I can't without the okay. I just bite my tongue and wait...that's all we can do."

"I guess I will have to meet this guy sometime. I just hope he can be the hero my sister is going to need. That Duke guy doesn't play around. I'm not a fool Micah. I know what people can do. Just because someone seems sane, doesn't mean that they are."

Damien looks down at the floor, burning holes into it.

"She may be older than me.. but that's my sister. I can't just sit by while she's suffering. I need to..."

He stands up and starts pacing around the floor, pissed off. His anger building.

"You always see the best in people Micah.. But I can see the parts no one wants to see. I can see the base and vile bullshit behind it all."

"I've never seen or met Duke."

"Then how-"

"I'm going on how Griffin and Ally see him. Their thoughts and perception of him. I don't see the good in everyone. Never have with you and your not exactly Officer Friendly but that never stopped how I've felt about you."

My hand snapped to my lips as Damien stopped pacing and looked at me, "What?"

"Nothing. Not important. What more can we do? We don't know where she is and we will only make the situation worse if we just start busting down every door. We just have to sit tight until Duke fucks up or we get information."

Damien paced again.

"Right.. wait.. I can't just rest on my laurels. Micah you know that. I can't. It's not who I am. As for Officer Friendly, I'm not the good guy, I never was."

'Your pacing is driving this vampire fucking nuts!'

My eye twitched and I stood, dropping the blanket and reaching out, catching his arm in my hand and spinning him towards the stairs. My hand slid under his head to keep it from cracking on the stairs but my fangs and lips brushed against his rough neck.

"Stop pacing before this becomes a problem for both of us. I know your not the good guy since you scared the shit out of me the last place we were at together but bite the bullet, Damien. We need Griffin to get to Duke...and Griffin is hurt. Train until he comes to us or let's information slip. Then you can go for the attack but I promise you this, cause Alexandra to lose her new family and I will personally see to it that you will pay."

I lifted my head, my eyes flashing darkly as I shifted above him, making sure to keep myself just barely touching him.

Damien looked at her, his brows furrowing.

"Let me up Micah, and get your fangs away from me. I don't feel like being dinner right now."

Damien looked away, trying to sit up.

My hand gripped his shoulder and forced him back down, "As long as you stop pacing. Your scent is diving me insane."

My eyes went back to normal and my fangs retracted as my eyes locked with his tempting eyes.

"Tell me your plan, Damien."

Damien looked at her.


"My plan is to sit tight until Griffin asks for us to help."

I smiled and nodded, getting off of him before walking into the kitchen. Might as well give him a beer. I walked back in just as he stood, my eyes giving him a quick once over as he adjusted his pants. Yep...that's one fine ass.

"Here, Hun."

He turned just as I leaned against the doorframe, arm out and holding an open beer.

Damien took the beer nodding his head.

"Thank you Micah."

He takes a drink of the bottle.

I smiled and cocked my head slightly, "Your welcome. Just need you to calm down a little bit."

"Why?"

Damien cocked an eyebrow and I stepped closer, one finger catching the the collar of his shirt.

"Your scent is quite...intoxicating."

I smirked and let his shirt go as I stepped around him and walked to the stairs, bending over as I picked up the blanket.

Damien shook his head. She was trying to seduce him. Damien was aware of Radio, but he wondered what happened.

"Micah I will be fine. I can show myself out."

He stood and walked toward the door, finishing off the beer and throwing the bottle away.

"Goodnight Micah."

I couldn't help but laugh as I stood, holding the blanket to my chest.

"Crash on the couch if you like. Another person here will help take away the quiet. With the twins and Michael gone, this house is too big."

I smiled and opened the nearby closet, pulling out blankets and a pillow, putting them on the couch.

"Stay. You did come all the way out here and I know you don't want to be alone either."

Damien looked at her.

"What about your boyfriend Micah? What happens if he comes home and finds me here?"

"He won't."

My eyes hardened slightly.

"What makes you-"

"He just won't alright?!"

My hands balled into fists and I shook slightly. I totally understand going to protect your son but I was more pissed at the fact he hid it until he was going to leave.

"He left me and his twins while he went to save his first born. I don't know when or if he's ever coming back."

Damien shut the door and walked back over by her.

"Okay I'll stay. Two things though.. no biting, and please tell me there's coffee."

I nodded, relaxing slightly, "Deal and the coffe starts brewing by 6am. Bathroom is the first door on the left."

I smiled and cocked my head, "Thanks Damien."

"You're welcome."

Damien shook his head looking at her. How did he always get himself into these situations?

My arms wrapped around his waist gently and I rested my head against his heart, listening to the soft, slow beat.

"She's gonna be okay...she'll come out of this like and become the Boss Bitch this place needs her to be..."

My voice started trailing off as I fought back sleep.

"Go rest Micah. Everything will be fine. You'll see."

He patted her head then lifted her hands from around his waist.

I pouted slightly and nodded, rubbing my eyes.

"Yeah....everything will be fine..."

I smiled and cocked my head, "Your hearts racing. You shouldn't worry so much, it's not good for a humans health."

Damien looked down at her.

"Dont you worry about me. I will be fine. Go rest, we can talk later."

He smiled at her.

I felt a blush creep across my cheeks and I looked away, nodding as I ran upstairs, slamming the door and leaning against it. Fuck...why did he have to come back? I took a few breaths to calm myself but jumped when knocking against my door rapped against my back. I opened the door, my hand pushing my hair back.

"Is there something you needed?"

I cocked my head when Damien hesitated slightly.

"Sorry I...nothing. Goodnight Micah."

He turned around facing away from her and heading back downstairs. His eyes grew big, as he tried to figure out what had just happened

I cocked my head, watching as he made his way back downstairs...

"Uhm...okay?"

~few hours later~

The smell of coffee made it's way upstairs, waking me up. It took me a minute to realize that I slept on the window seat, my head against the window.

"Fuck..."

I groaned and pulled out a hoodie, not realizing it was one of Damien's that I had stolen from Ally's closet last time I crashed there. I made my way downstairs, pulling the hoodie over my head. It fell to my knees and hung off a shoulder. Being just tired enough, I walked right past Damien, no good mornings, no hello...I forgot he was there.

"Micah."

I jumped, turning around and watching as Damien caught the empty cup before it shattered on the tile floor.

"What's wrong?"

Damien looks at her.

"You scared the living shit outta me. I forgot you were here."

I laughed slightly and rubbed the back of my head, a blush on my cheeks as he stepped back and looked at my hoodie.

"What?"

"Oh. Okay. Well, I need to get going. I've got shit to do."

He looked at the hoodie.

"How do you have my hoodie?"

"Stole it from Ally last time I crashed at her place."

I looked down at the hoodie that was from his old job as a cop...back when I first met him.

"Do you want it back and if you need any help...call. Its better to call the vampire for some sticky jobs...in the off chance Duke moves het."
