Hey everyone!

It's time, once again, for everybody, to climb about the SOTM train.

Obviously, February was a bit of an atypical month. No XWF PPVs here, but we DID have the Denzel show with some of our talent on it. Other than that it was two Savages, one Anarchy, one Warfare, and the Madness show (which is sort of a different animal altogether)

With that in mind, we compiled a handful of folks who had a decent month and tossed their name onto a list of nominees. As always, this is not an exhaustive list. I just stopped picking names when I thought I had enough. There was a lot of good stuff out there all month long and a bunch of people did great. There were probably not any singular "OMG" moments this month, though.

Anyway, hit the vote and then drop a comment letting us know why you voted the way you did. Choose OTHER if you think it should be someone not listed - AND TELL US WHO THAT PERSON IS.

We'll piece together the RP poll here in the next day or so as well.

Thanks!

I went with Kido cuz he knocked off duke and cent in the same month, back to back, as match #2 and #3 of his XWF career.

Y’ALL READY FOR MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH?!?!

Disclaimer: My SOTM math does NOT definitively or statistically prove who should be Star of the Month. If I had, like, so much time on my hands, I’d calculate stats like WAR (wins above replacement, as in real sports) and AOD (average opponent difficulty, an unquantifiable statistic that I just made up) and use those things to determine who actually had the strongest performance month. As such, I just parse through results, record wins and losses, then largely follow my gut.

If you completely disagree with my math, your vote is equally likely to hold truth as mine. And as such, is of equal voting power. I’m not telling you how to vote, I just like the stock wrestler.

NOW, COMMENCE THE MATHS!

Nominees:
Angelica Vaughn
February Record: 1-1
Lost on 2/12 Savage vs Jenny Myst
Won on 2/26 Savage vs RL Edgar

Raion Kido
February Record: 2-1
Won on 2/12 Savage vs Centurion
Won on 2/16 Warfare vs Thaddeus Duke
Lost on 2/26 Savage vs Charlie Nickles

Charlie Nickles
February Record: 2-0
Won on DPI Night 1 w/ Thunder Knuckles vs S.E.X.
Won on 2/26 Savage vs Raion Kido

Corey Smith
February Record: 2-0
Won on 2/16 Warfare vs Jin Ishida
Won on DPI Night 1 w/ Flynn & Duke vs Vaughn, Lux and Granger

Calvary
February Record: 2-0
Won on 2/12 Savage vs Cadryn Tiberius
Won on 2/17 Anarchy vs Tommy Wish

Jason Cashe
February Record: 1-0
Won on 2/17 Anarchy vs Barney Green

Jenny Myst
February Record: 2-0
Won on 2/12 Savage vs Angelica Vaughn
Won on 2/26 Savage vs Barney Green

OTHER (Names that I lobbed in to see what math would shake out)
Alias
February Record: 2-0
Won on 2/12 Savage vs Unknown Soldier
Won on 2/26 Savage vs Xavier Lux

Mark Flynn (WHOA HOW’D I GET IN HERE)
February Record: 2-0
Won on 2/16 Warfare w/ NK vs Barney Green and Bobby Bourbon
Won on DPI Night 1 w/ Corey and Thad vs Vaughn, Lux and Granger

Vita Valenteen
February Record: 1-1
Won on 2/12 Savage vs Thunder Knuckles
Lost a tag match on 2/28 Madness w/ Sierra Silver vs Team KTFO

Damn, we had some really good superstars here that had excellent Februaries!

So… Okay, first (completely arbitrary) rule I’m going to apply is, if you lost against another Star of the Month nominee, you probably weren’t the Strongest Star of the month.

Which means, we’ve gotta cut Angelica Vaughn and Raion Kido, who fun-facts, was the only XWFer to work across both Savage and Warfare this month, picked up two incredible wins and if he had beaten Nickles, probably would have taken this month in a walk. Great work, Raion!

Okay, so we’re down to…
Nickles, Corey, Calvary, Cashe, Myst, Alias, Flynn, Vita

I’ma cut Vita and Cashe first… Cashe worked one match this month (undefeated in February woo!) And Vita did only lose one tag match on Madness, but, that does mean she’s last nominee standing with a loss in February.

So now the list is…

Nickles, Corey, Calvary, Myst, Alias, Flynn

Cutting myself cuz I’m not gonna vote for myself lol.

…Wow. So we’ve got FIVE XWFers that all went 2 wins, no losses. That’s definitely good enough to put you in contention. And also, man, I’m trying to think of a way to break the field apart that isn’t “well, this guy’s a champion so that means more…”

…Damn.

Okay, so… again, arbitrarily, I’m going to cross-reference three variables to try and see if that shakes anybody off…

First, let’s recalculate records if we remove no-shows

Corey: 1-0
Nickles: 1-0
Calvary: 1-0
Jenny Myst: 1-0
Alias: 2-0

Okay, now! Let’s also calculate combined February wins of defeated opponents…

Corey: 1 combined win
Nickles: 2 combined wins
Calvary: 0 combined wins
Jenny Myst: 1 combined win
Alias: 1 combined wins

Interesting…

Okay, last thing I want to try is highest profile win for the month…

Corey: Peter Vaughn (w/ Genesis vs Exiles)
Nickles: Raion Kido
Calvary: Tommy Wish
Jenny Myst: Angelica Vaughn
Alias: Unknown Soldier

So okay. In a very, VERY close race…

I’ma go Corey.

When you log a win over the active Superstar of the Month, that seems like a pretty good indicator of being worthy of the next Superstar of the Month.

Plus, he’s had the Supercontinental Belt for like 5 months, if anyone deserves the SOTM curse, it’s Corey Tongue

Incredible months for everybody!

Kido.

Beating Cent and that mouthy dickhead back to back is a pretty big deal. Still shocked Charlie beat him, but... we know what Charlie's capable of when he's got a little fire.

Still, Kido.

*Wearing a rediculous disguise*

Boy howdy that Flynn guy just might be on to something!

But for real, this one's a struggle for me. Kido seems like the clear choice, but I've always felt like this award should go to people more established. I can think of quite a few occasions we rushed to give this to some new house of fire only for that fire to burn out fast. I certainly hope that doesn't happen! But I'll feel much more comfortable tossing out this accolade when the guy wins his first title, which is probably not far off.

All that was basically a lot of words to say I turned heel and voted for myself.

I was tossing up between:

Raion Kido - In terms of who grabbed people's attention the most this month, I don't think anybody else fits better.
Charlie Nickles - aka. the guy who knocked off the guy everyone was looking at.
Corey Smith - aka. Corey fucking Smith, who continues to steamroll.
Mark Flynn - picked up the win for his team at the Denzel show. Typically I think that goes to the person who rped best on the winning team. Who were his teammates? Thad Duke and Corey fucking Smith. Big deal that.

I literally put it in a random number generator alphabetically (Charlie, Corey, Mark, Raion) and it came up Corey. I'm comfortable with that

Do you have a light?

Tough decision this month. Went with Corey both because of math, and because he's been so low key consistent for so long that it's high time he has some recognition.

I'm always late with these, so if my vote doesn't count I understand.

I went with Kido. All good arguments made above but what tipped it for me was the fact that all 3 matches of his were XWF competitions and Corey's big win was in an invitational, not to discredit the win or the event, but it's like a showcase event right? Whereas Kido's 2 wins (and a main event championship loss) were 3 competitive matches against some of the best XWF has to offer.
