“Up next, the Universal title is on the line in a highly anticipated triple threat! Azrael Erebus makes his first title defense right here at Madison Square Garden against Shelby Cobra and Eli James IV. The very man responsible for Azrael even becoming the champion.

“The referee for tonights main event? None other than Sebastian Duke, who has gone on record saying he'll call it down the middle, but has an undeniable history with both of these men.

“Maniacs, it is time, for your main event!”

JOEY STYLES: “The ever-ominous presence of the King of Darkness! Former Xtreme, former United States, former North Korean, former Tag Team, former Trios Tag Team and former Universal Champion, Sebastian Duke!”

”Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns 'N' Roses plays.

JOEY STYLES: “Shelby Cobra! The definite odd ball in this match! She's a newcomer, yet finds herself in the biggest match of her young career.”

”Open” by Hellblinki plays.

JOEY STYLES: “The awesome force that is Eli James IV. He held numerous championships, but of course, he's also vacated most of them. Tonight, he gets an opportunity at the top championship in the industry! One title, he's never held!”

”Mercury Falling” by Poisonblack plays.

JOEY STYLES: “Here he comes! The two time Universal Champion! He's nearly done it all just like Duke! There's so many parallels with those two that it seems almost fitting that they continue to cross paths! Some day down the road, I'd expect them both to meet yet again!”

MAIN EVENT XWF Universal Championship Azrael Erebus © - vs - Eli James IV - vs - Shelby Cobra -In Order to Win the Title, You Must Pin the Champion REFEREE: Sebastian Duke

The bell rings and the main event Universal title match is under way. Eli smiles, bouncing back and forth between Azrael Erebus and Sebastian Duke. Nobody pay any attention to Shelby Cobra, right? WRONG!

She bursts onto the scene attacking Eli James from behind.



JOEY STYLES: “Cobra! Full of piss and vinegar tonight!”



She continues to work over the much, much, much larger Eli James as Azrael kind of hangs back and waits, quietly conversing with tonight guest referee. Cobra continues to hammer away on Eli, dropping him to one knee.

She runs toward the far side ropes, on the rebound, she whips Eli around and slams him down to the mat with a swinging neckbreaker. Shelby quickly goes for the cover. Duke goes down for the count.

JOEY STYLES: “Eli kicks out just after two!”



Shelby gets back to her feet and Azrael is there to hit her with a roundhouse kick. She goes down to the mat and rolls to the apron.

Azrael sets his sights on Eli James. James is slowly getting to his feet when Azrael grabs him and pushes him back against the ropes, using the rebound momentum to send him off the far side. Off that rebound, Eli hits Azrael with an avalanche, dropping the champion instantly.

Eli drops a series of vicious elbows repeatedly into the sternum of the champion. Eli then grabs Azrael by his hair and rips him back to his feet before planting him right back down to the mat with a belly to belly suplex. James then rips Azrael back to his feet.

Duke steps in, admonishing Eli for pulling the hair.

Eli ignores Duke and sends Azrael hard into the corner, then follows it up with a huge clothesline, crushing the smaller Azrael Erebus in the corner. Azrael staggers out and Eli James runs toward the ropes. After the rebound, Eli delivers a running big boot to the face of the Universal Champion, sending him to the mat.

Eli hooks the leg, attempting to go for the win.

JOEY STYLES: “Azrael Erebus with the kick out!”



Eli stares, smiling at Duke as he gets back to his feet. Eli makes a title motion around his waist.



JOEY STYLES: “Discount double check?

“Woah! And Duke flips the bird!”



Shelby Cobra sneaks up behind Eli and drop kicks him in the back of the head. Duke steps out of the way and Eli tumbles through the ropes and out of the equation for the time being.

Azrael is back up though, and drops Shelby with a reverse DDT. The champion grabs Cobras arm then flips her over into the Hells Gate submission.



DUKE: “HEY!”



JOEY STYLES: “That submission looks a lot like Pandoras Box!”



Shelby doesn't stay trapped for long though, she flips over Erebus, pinning him to the mat.

JOEY STYLES: “Azrael breaks the submission. Its either that are lose the title!”



Azrael gets back to his feet. Cobra gets back to hers, but slowly. She turns around and Azrael immediately plants her with a spine buster. Azrael considers going for the cover, but chooses against it. Instead, he pulls Shelby to her feet by her hair.

He grabs her head and turns her around for a neck breaker...



JOEY STYLES: “MULE KICK!”



Cobra catches Arael with the low blow. Azrael immediately hits the mat, clutching his crotch. Shelby takes a moment to catch her breath before going back to work. She lifts him off the mat and delivers a swift kick to the side of Azrael's head, sending him back down to the mat.

Cobra, still in offense mode, lifts Azrael off the mat and scoops him up before slamming him into the mat. Shelby immediately runs toward the ropes. On the rebound, she delivers a snap leg drop to Azrael and goes for the cover.

JOEY STYLES: “The champ survives here!”



Shelby gets back to her feet. She stands in wait for Azrael to get back to his feet. As he does so, Shelby nails him with the code breaker!



JOEY STYLES: “The Universal champ just got Skull Fucked!”

JOEY STYLES: “Eli James just saved the championship!”



As Duke's hand was coming down for the three, Eli James yanks Shelby Cobra out of the ring and floors her with a lariat. He then climbs into the ring and tries to pin Azrael Erebus by himself.

JOEY STYLES: “The champion kicks out! I think Eli and Cobra figured out they needed to wear down Erebus to even have a shot at the title!

“And they're doing a good job of it here!”



Eli lifts Azrael to his feet and tosses him into the corner. Eli then sits on the top rope, then applies a sleeper hold to the champion, hanging him in the air. Duke steps in, ordering Eli to break the hold, but of course, Eli James refuses.

Duke then grips Eli by the throat and finally, he releases Azrael who falls to the mat. Duke pulls Eli off the ropes and stares into his eyes with burning hatred.



JOEY STYLES: “Oh you know he wants to! Duke wants to choke slam Eli James through all nine circles of hell!”



Duke releases his grip and Eli James starts to laugh.



JOEY STYLES: “Cobra out of nowhere!”



Cobra flies from off screen to take out Eli James with a spinning wheel kick. From behind, Azrael Erebus charges toward Shelby Cobra and delivers a shining wizard, taking her down to the mat. Azrael focuses his attention on Eli James.

Azrael lifts him off the mat then immediately plants him with the cross rhodes.



JOEY STYLES: “Darkest Light on Eli James!”

Azrael scales the turnbuckles. He leaps into the air with a senton bomb!



JOEY STYLES: “World's Descent! He nails it!”

JOEY STYLES: “COBRA WITH THE SAVE!”



All three competitors are down. Cobra and Azrael are fighting to their feet. Cobra swings at Azrael but he ducks it.



JOEY STYLES: “Darkest Light on Shelby Cobra!”



Eli James is back up and has Azrael trapped in a head lock...



JOEY STYLES: “The Cleansing! We have a new champion!”



















ELI JAMES!



JOEY STYLES: “What the hell?”



Paul Heyman emerges from backstage.



Don't you realize what this is?


You see? When this match was booked by the previous General Manager Ozymandias, he wanted you, Eli, and Sid Feder to compete for the Universal title. Two of the most over rated, underwhelming stars I've ever laid eyes on.

So, when I stole... manipulated... my way back into power here on Madness, I made a change. Sid Feder was out and Shelby Cobra is in. Why?

Why would Paul Heyman give a newcomer like Shelby Cobra a shot at the title?

Easy answer there, Eli.

Shelby being as green as she is and new to the scene, I was kind of feeding her to the wolves. You see, as much as I dislike you, Eli, you're definitely a worthy competitor. Not worthy to carry the Universal title, mind you, but worthy nonetheless.

So, the one thing Ozy had the foresight to do was add the stipulation that I order to win the title, you had to beat the champion. Let's face it, you're no match for Azrael Erebus. Hell, even a so called legend like Sebastian Duke fails every time he tries to beat Azrael Erebus.

Sorry Duke, its not personal.

Eli James, what was done here was appeasement while pulling the wool over your eyes. You see, you were given an opportunity to compete for the Universal title, but what you did not realize, is that you actually had zero chance at winning this thing.

You might win the match, but rest assured, you won't ever hold the Universal title.

Why?

Because you have no respect for the legacy and lineage of the titles of the greatest wrestling promotion on the face of the Earth. It'll be a cold day in hell, Eli, before you ever hold that title.



JOEY STYLES: “Eli James doesn't look happy!”



James returns his attention to the match but is immediately hit with a shining wizard by Shelby Cobra!



JOEY STYLES: “Overdose!

“Darkest Light from Erebus to Cobra!”



Azrael hooks Cobras leg.

JOEY STYLES: “Azrael retains! And Eli James is... OH MY GOD!”



Those dark hooded figures from back at Leap of Faith or on the scene. They've began attacking both Azrael Erebus and Sebastian Duke!



JOEY STYLES: “Duke and Azrael are fighting back, but the numbers game is just too much!



Both Duke and Azrael are nearly beaten down when the arena darkens and firey flaming pyro bursts in the arena.



JOEY STYLES: “Here come the troops! In the form of Enigma and Duke's Messenger!”



Enigma and the Messenger hit the ring and start evening the odds. Slowly the tables turn and Azrael, Duke and company thwart the Eli James Gang attack. As Eli and company are in retreat, Duke grabs a mic.



SEBASTIAN DUKE: “Your day is coming soon, Eli...

“What the rest of you need to recognize, is that with the Universal Champ, and my little brother Enigma, you are looking at the next XWF Trios Champions!”



JOEY STYLES: “Battle lines are being drawn clearly! Azrael and James! Duke and James! The Trios titles will be up for grabs soon! And we just got another team in the mix right here on Madness!”



Madness fades out.
