Robert S. Vance Federal Court House
Birmingham, Alabama

I steer my brand new BMW M6 Coupe into the parking garage just across the street from the court house. A little bit of Southern Rock blastin' from the speakers. My lady, my darlin', Charlotte Dyson occupies the passenger seat. My boys remain at home with my momma.

It took me awhile to find the right car. It's fast, powerful and will take a hell of a beatin'. With Willow now out of my house and potentially out of my life, I decided to play nice guy and let her have the Mercedes SUV I bought for her a couple of months ago.

If nothin' else, it'll look good on paper when her and I are in court.

I'm lookin' forward to my life without her. As good of a mother and wife as she was, she's most certainly taken a nose dive in her quality as a human bein' let alone as a mother. She tested me. Her mistake. Now, she'll live the rest of her life in fear. She'll never know when I'll decide to strike her down. If I ever decide to, for that matter.

At the end of the day, it's all about my three wonderful boys. That dumb cunt can't have them. She'll have two options. One, she can be persistent and insist on seein' my boys. Or two, she can go away quietly. If she chooses the former, she'll still go away. Albeit, it won't be quiet.

Today though, is not about my boys or my disintegrated marriage to my wife. No, this is a legal issue that's been lingerin' for quite some time. Several years ago, I'm alleged to have conspired with my friend Mason Charles in burnin' down a nigga church in Selma.

Hell, it's not alleged.

I'm guilty as charged.

Unfortunately, no niggas lost their lives. Mason was caught, tried and found guilty. The thing is, he was the conspirator. I was the one that actually torched the place. Like a true friend, he took the fall. Mason served his time, and was paroled.

Then, they decided to come after me. Of course, what they don't realize, is that I will never spend a day of my life behind bars. I'm a connivin' man and I always get what I want. Nothin' about this case will change that fact.

I steer this orange colored German engineerin' art form into a parkin' place and kill the engine. After Charlotte and I exit the car, I set the alarm and we head toward the court house.

+++++Wyatt Anderson Reynolds+++++
Well, darlin'. Here's hopin' my plans don't backfire.

+++++Charlotte Dyson+++++
Honey, you know it'll all work out.

+++++Wyatt Anderson Reynolds+++++
How can you be so sure? I'm the one that carried out the plan and even I'm not completely certain, darlin'.

+++++Charlotte Dyson+++++
One of the reasons I love you so much, Wyatt, is your confidence. Your confidence in your own abilities pours out of every orifice in your body. What's different, Wyatt? Why are you not so confident now?

+++++Wyatt Anderson Reynolds+++++
Hell, Charlotte. My life hangs within the balance here. One wrong move and I could spend the next few years in federal prison.

+++++Charlotte Dyson+++++
Wyatt, you know that ain't gonna happen.

She certainly is a convincin' devil, ain't she?

We stop near the bridge that allows foot traffic to travel over, rather than in the midst of vehicle traffic below. She presses me against the wall and gives me one of her famous kisses.

+++++Wyatt Anderson Reynolds+++++
Hell, darlin'. You're right.

+++++Charlotte Dyson+++++
In Charlotte, you trust, Wyatt.

Hell that ain't no lie. We proceed across the bridge to the entrance to the court house. After passin' through security, we enter the court room. I'd be remiss if I didn't still notice that bailiff with the heavenly body. A few months ago, I would have taken her to bed. These days, I'm a one woman man. My relationship with Ms. Dyson has no doubt changed my life in ways I can not explain. She's opened my eyes to things I never realized. For that, I owe her a debt of gratitude. The future Mrs. Wyatt Reynolds is one amazin' woman that none of you out there in TV land have had the chance to know.

Charlotte takes a seat in the first row, just behind the Defendants table. The bailiff, that one with that heavenly body, tries not to look at me, but fails. Miserably. Dallas Hartman, the man that will attempt, but ultimately fail to prosecute me, enters the room. Much to my surprise, my wife Willow, enters and sits behind him. I do nothin' but smile at my future ex-wife.

The bailiff takes the attention of all of those in the room.

+++++Bailiff – With That Heavenly Body+++++
All rise for the honorable Judge Lawrence Joseph Baxter.

Judge Baxter with the slut psychiatrist of a wife enters the room and takes his seat on the bench. He pounds the gavel.

+++++Judge Lawrence J. Baxter+++++
Be seated.

Court is now in session in the case of the people of the United States of America versus Wyatt Anderson Reynolds of Birmingham, Alabama.

Mr. Reynolds, you are accused of conspiracy in the arson case that resulted in the total loss of the First Fellowship Church in Selma, Alabama.

During your plea hearin', Mr. Reynolds, you excused your defense team. As a result, you were forced to undergo a series of psychological testin'. Have you completed that court mandated order?

+++++Wyatt Anderson Reynolds+++++
I have, your honor.

+++++Judge Lawrence J. Baxter+++++
For the benefit of those in attendance, and for you, Mr. Reynolds. I want to remind you that this is not a trial. You are, however, in grave danger of proceedin' to trial. That is what we're here to figure out today. I'll hear the evidence and some witnesses and by the end of the day, Mr. Reynolds, you will know whether we will go on any further.

Do you understand what I've just explained, Mr. Reynolds?

+++++Wyatt Anderson Reynolds+++++
Completely, your honor.

+++++Judge Lawrence J. Baxter+++++
Good.

Would the prosecution like to start things off today with their opening statements?

Dallas Hartman stands in the front of the courtroom.

+++++Dallas Hartman – The Prosecutor
Today, ladies and gentlemen, Wyatt Reynolds is not on trial. What I intend to show you, is why he should be. I intend to display evidence procured by the Alabama State Police in their investigation of the events in question. You will hear from Mr. Reynolds' estranged wife, Willow Reynolds. You will see much of the evidence that will prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that one, Wyatt Anderson Reynolds of Birmingham, should in fact be charged and tried for conspiracy.

The federal government is prepared to adhere to whatever the honorable Judge Baxter rules on this case today.

I urge all of you in attendance to look at the evidence that both sides will present, and to think objectively. After all, Mr. Reynolds is not yet on trial. In accordance with the criminal justice system of the United States, Mr. Reynolds is innocent until proven guilty.

Hell, this moron is already softenin' them up.

+++++Judge Lawrence J. Baxter+++++
Mr. Reynolds, your openin' statement?

+++++Wyatt Anderson Reynolds+++++
In todays society, we have all different types of men and women crossin' God's Earth. Much like Mr. Hartman, I too, will show you evidence of the contrary. I will show you evidence in this case that will not only prove to you all my innocence, but also prove that this case needs to be dismissed.

The federal government considers arson, a local crime. The fact that it was a church would indicate to the government that I'm a terrorist. If I was a terrorist, brought up on these charges, do you think for a minute that I'd be a free man right now?

The federal government of the United States has imprisoned hundreds, even thousands of suspected terrorists without so much as allowin' them an attorney. More over, they've kept them that way for years on end.

If I really did conspire with others to burn down a church, which by the rules and laws imposed by the government, I would be labeled a terrorist. To that point, I'd be stuck in some buildin' somewhere. Maybe even Guantanamo Bay in Cuba with the rest of the mongrels that deliver terror to those around the world.

Yet, here I am. A free man. By the governments own definition, not a terrorist. If I'm not a terrorist, then by the laws instituted around the United States, I could not have had anythin' at all to do with burnin' down some random church in Selma, Alabama.

I do not have anythin' to prove, yet I will do so.

I take a small white envelope from inside my suit jacket.

+++++Wyatt Anderson Reynolds+++++
Madam Bailiff, if you would be so kind to deliver this envelope to His Honor, I'd greatly appreciate it.

She hesitates, but Judge Baxter nods and she obliges my request as I sit down.

+++++Dallas Hartman – The Prosecutor
If this is some kind of evidence, your honor, I have to object.

+++++Wyatt Anderson Reynolds+++++
Mr. Hartman, I can assure you, it is not evidence. It's nothin' more than a bill for my expenses. My psychological testin' was ordered by the courts and should be paid for by the courts. Yet I received a bill, sir. I'm merely attemptin' to get paid what I'm owed.

I watch as Judge Baxter opens the envelope. As he looks over its contents, the expression on his face changes and his color drains.

+++++Judge Lawrence J. Baxter+++++
Uhhh, we'll take a short recess while I look into this obvious mistake. Bailiff, could you escort Mr. Reynolds to my chambers please?

Court will resume in thirty minutes.

Just as I planned. The Judge knows what was inside that envelope and would like to discuss the contents in private. Although, what's inside, is not a bill. Just a receipt.
