It was difficult leaving...but there had been a few problems with the pregnancy. The way the twins were growing, how fast they were growing and how sick I had gotten. I ate as much as I could without getting sick and normally that was enough but the twins drained me, taking what they needed and not leaving my body anything. How Michael's first wife survived was a mystery to me but...the doc thinks that because she was the same race, it didn't matter.

Zak had laid me down on the bed in my...er...our house and hooked up a bag of blood. His face was calm, cold and collected but anyone who knew him knew he was just as worried as Michael and myself.

"Zak..."

He looked down at me, brushing some hair from my face, "Yeah?"

"Go see Nova. I don't need you getting sick over worry."

"I'll worry even if I'm with him."

"But you will forget for a few hours. You need a break too."

Zak didn't say anything, just sighed and sat at the edge of the bed, "I don't want to leave you here without some help..."

You could tell in his voice he was tired. The strain to talk, the soft hiss and low groan. Even his eyes gave it away, it looked like he had two black eyes and they lost their spark.

"Leave a note for Michael so he knows what to do and go. Even if its just for a few hours."

"You gonna tell him the sex of the twins?"

"Yeah."

Zak sighed and stood, kissing my forehead before taking off to Nova's apartment. I was kinda glad he had the man...Zak would need all the help he could get.
