after watching the most recent podcast and browsing the forums, i have seen many people use real wrestlers or drawn/custom wrestlers as their avatar. Is this necessary and if so how should i create one?

It's not necessary but a lot of people like to do it so they can get photos of themselves on PPV posters, etc. It's not super deep: just pick a famous person or famous wrestler that looks like what you want Dean Rose to look like.

You don't necessarily need to have a picbase, but I'm not sure why you wouldn't. It doesn't have to be a wrestler though. A lot of Hollywood actors, a lot of models, etc are also used as picbases. And there's a few people around that can help you out with artwork for your picbase.

I use myself which is a lot harder but use whoever you think envisions your character best.

It can be a little difficult with toons or posers or whatever, but we have some pretty amazing graphics people here. Robbie Bourbon has used a video game character all this time and it's worked just fine.

I prefer models, they have a broader range of looks and photos to choose from than the typical wrestler/actkr/toon base.
